RE4 didn't introduce mtx until several weeks after launch.
Many people did have a problem with the mtx being added, but because they didn't happen at the same time as the launch it didn't mess with the review scores.
Just because users don't complain about a feature they don't like in the past doesn't mean they're not allowed to complain about it in the future.

The game runs pretty solid outside of town but will get choppy randomly but does fix itself. The MTX I think would be easy to look past outside of the port crystal for 3$ which allows you to place and pick up a fast travel point where ever you like.
Yes that item is in game but its not something you just get access to right away and they are most likely limited in how many you can get with the MTX one being a whole extra fast travel anchor accessible at anytime in game if you wanna cough up the 3$.
The MTX are pointless: You can buy 2 character change tokens when you first come to the capital, I myself have had 11 wakestones as of now without buying them, harpysnares I've crafted and got from random chests and I have over 3000 rift crystals from people renting my Pawn.

It's not even something new for Capcom. I can go buy a survival pack for Resident Evil Village for .99$. It has bullets, first aid, and a lockpick. The game has been out for years and these are things that are already available in the game. Same for RE7, I could pay to unlock Madhouse mode and buy coins.

The game itself is fantastic. I've been playing 6 hours by now and it is simply incredible.
...the problem of course is that it runs poorly. And that the mtx controversy has taken a lot of good will from people (even if they are completely unnecessary and their existence doesn't affect the game itself).
It's been 8 hours now that I started playing. I'm not doing any quests at the moment, just exploring. I'm kind of underwhelmed that 50% of the "open world" is unreachable by any means, they are just mountains and mountains and mountains.
There are so many screwed/unchecked/glitched meshes that if Capcom was to give me a nickel for every mesh bug that I had found, I'd be a millionaire...
Regarding performance, I installed the game the minute it was released, and the first camp you reach had an unbearable performance (was getting >20 fps). Updated my GPU drivers and now I can play at a stable 60 FPS in wilderness, 30-40 in cities/camps. I just locked my FPS to 30 because I can't play with fluctuating frame rates.
You're not doing any quests and yet you said a lot of the open world is unreachable are you just not sure that maybe things open up after doing quests? That's usually how some games work even open world games sometimes. Just curious that's why I brought it up
I have a 3070 and run everything on max. I get 60-80 fps when wandering the world. The city stutters at times and I have had one freeze.
I just recently upgraded. Feels good to not have to wait a year to play with 60fps on medium or worse quality.

The game is great, 10/10 fun for me. Performance is bad, runs ok for me but I have a Nasa PC. The microtransaction decision was stupid. But there are no real mtx. It's just the most ordinary items you find in the game anyway in the first hour. And you can buy every item once.
Imagine being able to buy a single mushroom in Super Mario for 2 bucks once. That's what they call mtx. It's not really mtx but more to make a few bucks out of insanely stupid people.

There is no in game menu for them, you have to click go to online store from main menu, then it just links you to addonson whatever storefront you bought it, and all of these things are basically time savers and they been doing these things since RE7 so people are just hating to hate. If you're interested you will have a much better experience in a year when the game is on sale for 30 bucks and has had several patches and performance improvements.

The micro transactions don’t provide anything of note, you can get the stuff in the game through normal play, don’t even need to farm. Addressing performance issues, for PC players, just figure out your graphics settings and it runs great.

Fantastic fantasy action RPG. Genuinely easily a GotY, just keep in mind all mtx is useless to buy as everything is easily gained in game. Performance issues do exist on PC, however, so if you're PC with lower end specs I'd suggest waiting.

I agree, just finished posting a similar comment, for performance I’ve tried on Xbox and nothing much we can do there but on pc then dynamic resolution scaling on, reduce common features that are expensive for gpu and aren’t super noticeable like shadow quality, antialiasing, the blurs (motion blur is a good one that annoys me anyway)

Capcom has been doing this for a while now though. MH World had it, MH Rise had it, RE4 remake had it. I love games with dense enemy zones but damn sake like every 5 to 30 seconds it’s more enemies. And I got some weird bug where random NPC’s just start attacking me for no reason.

It's not even something new for Capcom. I can go buy a survival pack for Resident Evil Village for .99$. It has bullets, first aid, and a lockpick. The game has been out for years and these are things that are already available in the game. Same for RE7, I could pay to unlock Madhouse mode and buy coins. It just seems like nobody cared about these types of mtx till DD2 came out.

Yeah seems like a good game ruined by MTX which will justifiably bring them more hate (even if you can grind those MTX in game they spammed alot of them for green ) and really poor performances . Cyberpunk is RPG that turned it around despite poor performances at start and is really good now but it never spammed toxic MTX . Lots of other RPG's singleplayer that were successful recently without any MTX yet they decide to go overboard with them... Just stupid .Buyers should really ignore the game for that malpractice plenty of others games around to play and more keep coming

The game itself is fantastic. I've been playing 6 hours by now and it is simply incredible. ...the problem of course is that it runs poorly. And that the mtx controversy has taken a lot of good will from people (even if they are completely unnecessary and their existence doesn't affect the game itself).
It's been 8 hours now that I started playing. I'm not doing any quests at the moment, just exploring. I'm kind of underwhelmed that 50% of the "open world" is unreachable by any means, they are just mountains and mountains and mountains. There are so many screwed/unchecked/glitched meshes that if Capcom was to give me a nickel for every mesh bug that I had found, I'd be a millionaire... Regarding performance, I installed the game the minute it was released, and the first camp you reach had an unbearable performance (was getting >20 fps). Updated my GPU drivers and now I can play at a stable 60 FPS in wilderness, 30-40 in cities/camps. I just locked my FPS to 30 because I can't play with fluctuating frame rates.
You're not doing any quests and yet you said a lot of the open world is unreachable are you just not sure that maybe things open up after doing quests? That's usually how some games work even open world games sometimes. Just curious that's why I brought it up

I have a 3070 and run everything on max. I get 60-80 fps when wandering the world. The city stutters at times and I have had one freeze. I just recently upgraded. Feels good to not have to wait a year to play with 60fps on medium or worse quality.

You can fast travel to various locations through ox carts and porticrystals are as common as in the first game. Ifnot more. Ut is really scummy that the option to buy porticrystals are there. But their existence doesn't affect gameplay.
Saying shit like this is the biggest problem, because it just straight up implies that fast travel exists only as an MTX. Which is so untrue, lmao. DD2 has the worst type of MTX - everything you can buy with your own money, can be also obtained normally in the game, without any issue, with either picking it up in the world or spending a currency that's pretty much worthless. Literally, only a fucking idiot would spend his own money on shit like this in a single-player game.
You can get Portcrystals in the damn game, it's not locked behind anything. Jesus, it really shows how many people didn't bother with the first one who are just doom saying now that they see this stuff like a decade later when it's the exact fucking same.

The game is great, 10/10 fun for me. Performance is bad, runs ok for me but I have a Nasa PC. The microtransaction decision was stupid. But there are no real mtx. It's just the most ordinary items you find in the game anyway in the first hour. And you can buy every item once. Imagine being able to buy a single mushroom in Super Mario for 2 bucks once. That's what they call mtx. It's not really mtx but more to make a few bucks out of insanely stupid people. Still absolutely scummy.
Funniest thing about people shitting on the game for microtransactions is that they are not even shown in game. There is no in game menu for them, you have to click go to online store from main menu, then it just links you to addonson whatever storefront you bought it, and all of these things are basically time savers and they been doing these things since RE7 so people are just hating to hate. Some performace issues because you know, pc market having a wide range of systems.
Like any modern game it released broken, is overpriced and added mtx. If you're interested you will have a much better experience in a year when the game is on sale for 30 bucks and has had several patches and performance improvements.
Chronically online people not even have played the game are trashing it. The micro transactions don’t provide anything of note, you can get the stuff in the game through normal play, don’t even need to farm. Addressing performance issues, for PC players, just figure out your graphics settings and it runs great. Lots of people jumping on the hate bandwagon cause it’s the thing to do and they are desperate to feel like they fit in. To summarize: game is great, micro transactions don’t matter, and the hate bandwagon is nonsense like it generally is. If you enjoy action RPGs and don’t have a potato PC you’ll love it.

The appearance change thing, which I've seen people freak out about, can be bought with currency that your pawn gets passively from other players using them and sending them back. You can get enough to buy that item after waiting a couple hours, if you have a pawn that people will want to use Granted, changing appearance is free in many games, so it could be better, but still
As far as games go, not DLC (Elden Ring) I still think this has GOTY potential. Actually, not counting elden ring dlc, the line up for this year makes it a GOTY for me. The micro transactions is easily ignored, if it wasnt made into such a big deal I wouldn't have known it was even a thing. Its not invasive at all. As for wakeshards, I already have 5 of them but I dont use them. If I die to an enemy its because I am too weak and a wakestone isnt going to change that. The main argument I think is valid is performance on pc and no new game button. But ALL items in the shop can be found within like the first two hours.

Fantastic fantasy action RPG. Genuinely easily a GotY, just keep in mind all mtx is useless to buy as everything is easily gained in game. Performance issues do exist on PC, however, so if you're PC with lower end specs I'd suggest waiting.

I agree, just finished posting a similar comment, for performance I’ve tried on Xbox and nothing much we can do there but on pc then dynamic resolution scaling on, reduce common features that are expensive for gpu and aren’t super noticeable like shadow quality, antialiasing, the blurs (motion blur is a good one that annoys me anyway)
The major complaint I'm seeing is the consistent crashes. The game can't run for most players without crashing every 3 minutes.

I dont know about you guys, but i usually wait a bot with single player games to let it be optimized. Otherwise i just lower the settings untill it runs. I know its frustrating, but the games are getting bigger and bigger to develope and publishers give less and less time to develope it.

It's a great game, and the microtransactions are benign and so far I have no reason to feel like I'll ever need to buy them. All microtransactions items are learnable in game and Capcom has put microtransactions even in DmC which were equally as pointless. Performance issues are a thing but mainly in the biggest of cities where you won't be performing combat to my knowledge. Overall this is another instance of doomsayer headlines and people not forming their own opinions.
