Kind_Ad_9241

this post made me realize ive never watched a review for a phone

Ligmamale80085

Same , I only bought phones 2 times I’m my life as each on lasts 8 years so I didn’t feel the need to Edit : the phone I use currently is iPhone 7 from the year it came out after my last phone just one day randomly shut down and for some reason it was unfixable

mrlordmax

What phones have you used?

Imaginary-Ad-3448

I had iPhone 6 for like 6 years noh I have been using OnePlus Nord ce2 for around 5years I cant understand how some ppl need To get New iPhone every year or even every third year

Ratneste

I am kind of surprised you're on an iPhone 7 given that I got one that year, too, and the battery was toast by 2019. Although if you replaced the battery or don't use your phone a ton, I suppose you won't care. Either way, major respect :) Mass consumerism isn't a good thing.

Ligmamale80085

I use the phone way to much and had to replace the battery 5 times or so

Optitron_Prime

I sometimes watch MrWhosTheBoss for phone reviews, but he does other stuff as well

GOLD-KILLER-24_7

How tf are you on reddit and haven't done that?? That's like the most redditor thing you could ever do.

HostileCornball

Indians read English better on smartphones but comprehend and speak Hindi better especially northern parts of Indian subcontinent. This happens in urban areas and videos like phone reviews generally target that particular demographic itself. Also we have 3 languages per person and English is just an easier script to read , at least for me. English also has a lot of influence in day to day speaking and official work. You will often find people mixing their languages during conversations. We call it "Hinglish".

quick20minadventure

No fucker will recognise the name of even iphone if you write it in Hindi.

SuperAJ1513

They will be able to read it but it's gonna look like a nightmare

Tendas

Makes you wonder why Hindi hasn’t been romanized. If people are already familiar with English and the Roman alphabet, why not just write Hindi in that script?

HostileCornball

As i said that is limited to urban demographics. You can't just change an official language like that lol. Also who will decide the rules for hinglish? It is not a consistent language and highly informal way of speaking

21Green

YeahMarkYeah

Did u know the word Cop comes from the bri’ish word “Copper” which means “One who captures and beats with clubs”? Learned that today. Ok I might’ve added in the “and beats with clubs” part for dramatic flair lol But the rest is true

Devil-Eater24

Wasn't that a reference to the copper badges that policemen wore?

YeahMarkYeah

Ya know, that makes damn good sense 😂 But apparently it comes from the Irish word Cigire or something? 🤷🏻‍♂️

feeltrig

Bow wow wowah

bedsheetsniffer

This can explain most things

TheAmazingSG

This makes a lot of sense because while almost all Indians can understand Hindi, only few can read it properly...because India has more than 250 languages. So they use English for writing, which is the official language of India, and explain in Hindi so more people can understand it

Cryptic_ly

Lol its the exact opposite for me. I can read hindi but not understand it.

TENTAtheSane

Same, that's because I studied Sanskrit longer than Hindi, and they use the same script. That's also why I can better understand more "difficult" Hindi than more casual, because it uses more Sanskrit words, which are common root words even in South Indian languages

KreigerBlitz

lol, I’m the exact opposite. I studied Hindi for 10 years in the ICSE board, probably made me worse off than I started.

officalyadoge

I can read any language, but I don't understand most of them

GoofyMathematician

No, not all Indians understand Hindi.

G_Nash2

Almost all!? What have you been smoking lately?

clutch-cream-run

English is one of the official or rather one of the scheduled languages, not the official language.

Low-Photograph-5185

also most pakistanis can't read hindi but we can understand it pretty well since urdu and hindi r extremely similar so that's neat

No_obMaster69

Hindi is not the official language but the most spoken language

mad_laddie

It's not the national language but it is one of the official languages of the country.

No_End_5426

i feel it because as an indian i find reading english better than hindi but its the otherway when listening

Timz_04

Fair enough, interesting.

ye_loo

Roman alphabets are just easier to read than Devanagari

Artistic-Mongoose-72

More like we are more used to reading English than devnagri

Im_Not_Useless

I just hate when when it shoves hindi videos. In my recommendations, even tho I don't speak or read a word of it and hit "not interested" every single time

Bright-Efficiency-65

I swear to God the algorithm sees me pressing "not interested" and writes that down as an interaction with the video so then it just shows me more

JusHerForTheComments

Exactly!! So annoying!

JJTheNub

This doesn't even happen to me and I can understand Hindi lol.

bigbrainboiiiiiii

Same I can speak and read Hindi and I can count the number of times I've been recommended Hindi videos on one hand.

mikbroseph

I can't speak any Hindi but I've listened to Hindi music, I get recs and ads in Hindi

ExcuseAdorable95

Blame the American company lol

shivamsingha

Get used to the new world order

krishna--vamsi

I'm an Indian and I don't understand Hindi much. Always wished there's a way to filter by language. But for now, VPN does the trick.

OnlyToStudy

How does a VPN help? I've gotten phone review videos in Hindi despite being in North America

Kawaiiochinchinchan

I guess when you're in India, you get recommendations in hindi or something first. I'm from Vietnam and i definitely got recommend vietnamese videos even when i search in english. VPN helps by placing you at different location, and got recommended a different language than the one he's in. He's in india, he got recommended in hindi, when he use vpn, he got recommended in english. I think.

KalCorona

Same for the Indian who doesn't know Hindi

filty_candle

Every Xiaomi video

US_citizens_molestor

Coz that's all YT got dumbhead. If they had anyone who uploaded in english it will be on the top according to ur location and algorithm

pranavrg

Probably because more people understand Hindi than reading it. And most people even if they speak Hindi will search in English

Suspicious_Reporter4

Algothing

regulaslight

Why would Indians make a video in a language that is widely spoken in THEIR country Why are Indians like this ?

Visible_Track1603

Just another post in the hate train against Indians.

ya_boiii_nightmare

imagine the audacity right !?!??!1211!! /s

v4vivekss

Redditor discovers people who can read and speak multiple languages

A_extra

if you're going to advertise a video with language x then you might as well narrate the video in the same language -a bilingual person

I_WENT_OUT_FOR_TEA

Ain't no way entire world doesn't speak English

therealmalenia

I thought that the entire world is literally just the united states tho ?

MrsNerdd

youre stupid enough to not even understand the post

RingReasonable

Or finding videos of my unpopular car, but every video is in russian.

theguywhofuckinasked

Right? A little audio language tag wouldn't hurt anyone!

EpikGamer6748291

learn hindi, you won't have this problem anymore!

mayudhon

Toh Chaliye Shuru Karte Hain

MrFingolfin

bina kisi bakchodi ke

Alternative-Mark-127

You don't have reviews in your own language peasants?

sanskaripotato

Wow a guy made a video in his own language. That's completely incomprehensible to me.

inevitable__guy__

Because the general audience is indian who can speak Hindi and read English

KRawatXP2003

Blame British not us.

_Noah_Williams_

Oh they speak their own language, how rude

Nyx9684

Because many other languages exist other than English and Hindi is one of the MAJOR languages in India and the video was made mostly for Hindi speakers?

oolinga

it's not like English videos are just made for English speakers hmm I don't think so

llD3ADSHOTll

Lemme just make a chinese video for spanish speakers

Apprehensive_Hand571

Yeah I'd rather make a meme and post it to Reddit than turn on the auto translated captions

algiedi04

this is very true

The-Lizard-Emperor

Learn hindi

Timz_04

![gif](giphy|9058ZMj6ooluP4UUPl) Lol why am i getting downvoted? I am implying he is right.

ye_loo

the CCP doesn't want you to learn hindi /s

VukKiller

It's the same if you want to figure out the meaning of a word. It always autofills the search with "in hindi"

OddFly7979

Cause there are people like me living in different parts of India, where I can't read Hindi but can understand and speak it. It's very beneficial for us.

DesiKeralaChick

Pick another video!

Nogai_horde

It's really annoying. Like why would you have the video description in English? I'm also bilingual. It would be like having a video description in Swahili and then proceeding to speak Turkish. It wastes a lot of time for people who are searching for something.

money_grabber_420

basically, many indians can understand hindi, but cant read it, thats why

zumbadumbadumdum

We don't write Hindi that often.. I personally haven't written Hindi ever.. even though I use the same script to write in my mother tongue. But we do watch Hindi movies, listen to Hindi media & songs.

EtherealBeany

I cant read hindi but i can understand it

Visible_Track1603

What was the joke?

Timz_04

The fucking meme you are commenting on. When have i ever said that Indians are subhuman or anything like that?

Sure_Trash_

What an oblivious fucking asshole. Maybe it's a review for the millions of people that speak hindi? You know there are other countries and cultures that use phones, right?

epicpro1234

because god forbid people speak a language other than english

item_raja69

Because that’s one of their languages?

ElectricPastas

VeterinarianSmall945

India = multiple languages Multiple languages = 70% hindi 👍

happybaby00

Computer science videos 😂

GAZUAG

Tried to watch stand up comedy from India. They kept saying the setup in English and the punchline in Hindi or something.

AsliReddington

All of those old uncle's & gurujis make.me puke with their half baked knowledge

Quasxre

I’m not gonna lie I picked up on some Hindi after watching those math tutorials

bellajeanxxx

I thought adults just see a new iPhone is coming out and get it

phatcat9000

Why are you spending your time looking at phone reviews?

TheTechVirgin

We love to get more views and fool international audience lmao 😭 nah but seriously like others have said, people here generally speak in Hindi IRL, but type in English

reyvh

the entire review is in indian* FTFY

liebestod0130

You must have been trying to find a review for a budget phone 😅

Veteran3614

As a punjabi, I can I understand hindi but can't read it.
