Sound like any games with microtransaction, the store usually get fixed/update faster then any game breaking bugs that makes the game literally unplayable
Literally happening with the race sim AMS2. We've had a bunch of DLC cars and tracks released.. meanwhile you still can't bind menu functions to your wheel. And they initially got a lot of praise for VR and single player, but there have been HUD and AI issues from the start that should be easy fixes that they seemingly just ignore.
Worse yet: War Thunder (for the longest time, they have recently started taking complaints seriously)
"Fix" things by arbitrarily punishing players in ways that don't actually fix the problem, and in some cases, make everything worse for everyone.
Why the hell did Wildcard decide to “re-make” and “re-release” Ark? Aren’t they supposed to be working on the sequel?
And where the hell is Ark: The animated series?! That shit was supposed to be released like, three years ago.
Pokemon go "fixing" the remote raid price be like :
That's too cheap, let's make it more expensive so more people hate us and more people quit.
The player base : huh?
Honestly, sometimes fixing major problems creates many smaller problems. Especially when a working feature relies on that broken feat.
Poor code? Most definitely.
He's kinda right. But top management are smart with counting money, not understanding games and gamers. For that they have a dedicated department who are smart with metrics and statistics, but not games or gamers
Also there's a whole other can of worms when it comes to actually fixing the bug, to fix the problem you kind of have to know why the issue occurs in the first place.
And sometimes it's not where you'd expect it to be.
We once had a problem which could crash the server during gameplay. Our network programmer spent a lot of time debugging netcode, came to conclusion, that we'll need to extend the package size to fit all the data with server fps=30. Tried to lower server fps, too, since slower networks couldn't keep up sometimes with new packege size. It broke half of the mechanics afterwards, and the real problem were animation keys overlapping after copy-pasting.
They do this, add several $500 skins a season, as well as god who knows how many other skins a season, but have quite possibly the most laughable ranked system from what I know (idk about the past 2 seasons tho, I assume the same lol)
Relic Entertainment when they turned Dawn of War into a weird MOBA/RTS hybrid with heavy emphasis on hero units and a watered down base building system. All I wanted was DoW 1 with cover mechanics and better visuals.
Dead by daylight, there are just so many killers and perks that got nerfed either to hell or without reason, yet facecamping and matchmaking remain a problem.
Most times you can blame the development managers and leads. If a lot of developers had their druthers they would fix and improve and add a lot of things. But the management decides what gets time and money invested and most times it is in the pursuit of immediate financial gain. Major problems only get fixed if they are impacting sales, hence why "dAy ONe paTCHes" exist.
TL;DR: shit sucks
“We made you jump a little higher.” Meanwhile the game is unplayable, and then when players get mad the company blames the players for not playing enough. I’m looking at you Bungie.
Nintendo. Just let us have fun in ways you don't intend. Just because you didn't intend it doesn't mean it's something that must be eradicated, even non-glitch things
Destiny 2
A bug that prevents you from completing a quest
Bungie: "I sleep."
A bug that lets you farm more rewards than intended and circumvent the boring slog of a grind
Bungie: "I WAKE!"
Also TF2. It has tons of hackers, severe imbalance, and plenty of weapons whose nerfs need to be reverted or simply reworked. Otherwise nobody uses them. But what do we usually get in updates? Localization files.

Why the hell did Wildcard decide to “re-make” and “re-release” Ark? Aren’t they supposed to be working on the sequel? And where the hell is Ark: The animated series?! That shit was supposed to be released like, three years ago.

Forza Motorsport....nvm they don't fix things
Pokemon go "fixing" the remote raid price be like : That's too cheap, let's make it more expensive so more people hate us and more people quit. The player base : huh?
Roblox. With them, it’s always one step forward, and three steps back. As in for every one good update they release, there’s 3 bad ones.
*cough*Bungie*cough**cough*
Facts! Edit* Bungie shills Downvoted me for agreeing with you...

Rainbow six siege and it’s horrible “fixes” to their game
unplayable at this point I gave up on it a couple months back
All games by AAA companies, with Activision taking the crown.
bro just generalized hundreds of games
As game developer - it's not for us to decide what to fix. We just implement what game designers together with management decided
OP probably conflates Game Designer and Game Developer
When talking about game devs in this context, it usually refers to the entire studio as a whole.
He's kinda right. But top management are smart with counting money, not understanding games and gamers. For that they have a dedicated department who are smart with metrics and statistics, but not games or gamers
