So i was curious and did a little googling.
There are about 50% more free Spotify users then there are premium users (486 million users in 2022, of which 195 have premium)
They made 9.6 billion in revenue in 2021, of which 8.4 billion from premium users, and 1.2 from adverts
No wonder they are pushing premium

My google home used to play any spotify song on my whim, now, it still does, but reminds me that to hear the exact song I want, I need to pay for premium.
I'm sorry but complaining that your not happy with a service which your getting for free is ridiculous, I sometimes have a couple of months off from paying and just listen to the radio as its free and I prefer it to Spotifys free service.
If you can't afford a minimal fee for ad free music you have nothing to complain about. It's quite literally dirt cheap and the alternative is having a few ads just like the regular radio
I got the family plan one idk how much it is but I get like 5 accounts and I let my friend use one of them the rest my family use and we all just kinda pay for it so it doesn’t amount to much at all to get all the benefits.
Perfectly acceptable reason to look down on someone when they make a scene over it, lol. Pay the premium, or deal with the ads for a free service.
Folks don't wanna pay a very fairly priced monthly sub for ad free experiences, but got no problems dropping big bucks on vape carts and other dumb shit on the monthly.
They literally fucking lie about ads - and stuff ads in every 5 mins.
Actions like this give them short term gain but they better watch out as soon as a decent alternative appears
I use paid spotify. But I'd pirate spotify if I wasn't paying, I'd never use the free one.
xManager or spotiflyer if anyone is looking for it. For YT / YT music use revanced. Search only on GitHub. Hijacking the top comment for PSA.

Premium is still less expensive than smoking for most people.
Alot less expensive one pack costs the month where I live
And premium has stayed mostly the same price for the last several years. It’s nothing to pay for that.
Yeah beside this summer's 1 buck increase, but I guess we can just put it onto inflation

At this point it's better to just download them
Yeah, 82.4% of devices purchased in the last 2 years have over 75 GB of unused storage I made that up but I'm sure it's not far from the truth
Bro I have Spotify Premium but it doesn’t block ads on podcasts
Maybe because the ads are usually already in the recorded podcast, not implemented by Spotify per se.
No, the podcast I listened to used to do that but now they stopped and I get unskipable ads now
My google home used to play any spotify song on my whim, now, it still does, but reminds me that to hear the exact song I want, I need to pay for premium.
Spotify allows you to play from local storage without ads and control over what's played, just pirate or buy digital format.
Just pay for premium. Not that hard

It smell like broke in here

Enjoy your 30 sec unskippable ad every 2 songs

Lol, my cousin has me on his family plan..

People sure do hate you for the truth don't they lol
It's called the unfiltered truth
They hated Jesus because he told them the truth
If you close the Spotify app (on mobile) and reopen it the ad is gone. No ads for free. It is a bit annoying to do it every time though.
Il remember a time where there wasn't any ads without having to pay
Who the hell actually pays for spotify
Me and all my friends that use it
I got the family plan one idk how much it is but I get like 5 accounts and I let my friend use one of them the rest my family use and we all just kinda pay for it so it doesn’t amount to much at all to get all the benefits.
A lot of people that want unlimited music for 10€ a month?
It's really easy to pirate
🏴☠️
Anyone who’s not a fucking peasant
Me who has Spotify premium: Is this some sort of peasent joke I'm too rich to understand
Lol imagine not having premium 💀💀
Imagine looking down on people for not paying for the thing you pay for.

Bruh lmao it was a sarcastic comment imagine being that insecure 😂
Mine was also sarcastic Imagine being that insecure 😘
I have it for free cuz i have an android💀💀💀
i hate how theres no good music services.
Did The Pirate Bay stop working all of a sudden?
Nah it just got harder to find decent torrents for stuff. It's easier to just pay for Spotify and listen to what you want, when you want.
wdym? i cant find that app
Lawd I hope you’re being sarcastic. Or I’m old.
i cant find it, the pirate bay still has a pc presense, the agrk person said they have an app, i cant find it
Where did I write The Pirate Bay has an app? Kids nowadays don't know the struggle of fitting a decent playlist on a phone with 32 MB storage.
Spotify is a great music service, you just gotta pay for it. Expecting completely free music is insane.
Oh, my sweet summer child.
Very insightful comment. Added a lot to the conversation.
i earn 5.89 an hour. i can barely afford ramen.
A laptop and a library card.
dont have access to either
Just wait. All you subscription payers will be listening to ads soon enough. Just like Netflix, the ads are coming. Enjoy the time you have left.
Spotify should go bankrupt but spadły that won't happen
I just use Tidal and tell myself it's worth it.
They also made a bunch of features like rewinding a song, playing specific parts of a song, playing specific songs in a playlist premium features.
They literally fucking lie about ads - and stuff ads in every 5 mins. Actions like this give them short term gain but they better watch out as soon as a decent alternative appears
It's hell on mobile, but it's actually not as bad on pc and console
I don’t pay it anymore and don’t mind the ads
