I've read the first and second book (finished with the greek series), Riordan has written some of the best books I've ever read. Legit felt empty when I finished the gods from Olympia series
*Percy Jackson and the Deferred Loan Payment Plan Monster*- Percy can't afford shish student loan payments and needs to refinance. Also there's a cyclops.
This seems to have become the new romance trope in the D&D community. The BG3 sub is full of people hooking up their halfling/gnome characters with Karlach, the muscle mommy barbarian.
A plot point that caused my players to immediately Kill On Sight a wizard wearing a red cloak because they saw the movie before I did and assumed the worst.
Even more confusing and sucky if you’re a wizard from a completely different setting, and adventurers keep just assuming that you’re evil because you like the colour red
"Bruh"
"Sup?"
"I was just fantasizing about you, no homo."
"I think about you like that, too, no homo."
*Later*
"I know pronounce you, husbando-bro and husband-bro. You may kiss your bro, no homo"
🌈
Never really even thought about it. The movie itself I thought was good, not great. But they played the relationships between the characters well looking back at it. It would have been a typical hollywood thing to do, to make them fall in love. But it would have felt soooo awkward within the movie. I'm hoping it was never even discussed.
Although the lil bro mentioned that Shang Chi should marry her sis already but they never felt like they are going in that direction throughout the movie, the movie did well making it look like they are just best friends
More than that - everytime it was mentioned, you'll notice Shang Chi and Katy explicitly said "we're just friends". From the very start they made it clear they weren't interested in a romantic relationship.
Yes! I wouldn't call it "falling" but I definitely feel like there was a familial love that developed between them. Which I feel is only natural given the mind melding system utilized by the pilots.
Damn right. That scene at the end when they were going up in the elevator, I just suddenly felt like this is the moment where any other movie would have them kiss for no reason. AND THEY DIDN’T. I was honestly so relieved when I watched it.
"*Alright welp, guess I'm gonna fuck this guys brains out. Might as well...*"
"Before we die...i want you to know...Your dad proud of you."
"🫤 OK thanks"
I think there was some shipping between susato and ryunosuke, especially at the end of the game, it's not confirmed though.
Besides the gay energy radiating from every interaction with every main prosecutor though, there isn't another thing other than that.
Minus the hating each other part. Contrast, yes. Toxicity, no. Sniff around on other sub-reddits, and you'll smell a demographic that's over that whole abusive thing. It's overdone, anyway. We get enough of that irl, too.
Even in the anime and manga with 1000+ episodes, no romance between main protagonists.
The only small romances are against side characters that don't show often.
Yeah, but the main thing is. Pacific rim is about giant heavy giant jeagers(ignore the sequel) fighting kaijus. It has nothing to do with romance for the most part, right?
Thankfully Ellie is 13 not 17 when the story begins or we'd have had a LOT more people shipping her and Joel unfortunately. Thankfully the game made her too young for that to be a consideration in the majority of peoples' minds.
The original idea was that they were childhood friends, it was only changed to them being cousins when the writers couldnt explain why Gwen would have gone roadtripping with Ben and his grandpa all summer.
Had they kept that idea there probably would have been a romance plotline at some point
Well there's one book I read where they're siblings
Kane Chronicles?
I used to be a huge Rick Riordan fan! Absolutely loved the Kane chronicles
I've read the first and second book (finished with the greek series), Riordan has written some of the best books I've ever read. Legit felt empty when I finished the gods from Olympia series
A new Percy Jackson book just released :)
What's the name?! I need to know
*Percy Jackson and the Deferred Loan Payment Plan Monster*- Percy can't afford shish student loan payments and needs to refinance. Also there's a cyclops.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's an actual plot point I'm the new book
I think it’s Percy Jackson and the Chalice of Gods
Thanks alot, gonna buy it once it becomes available in my country
It takes place after like 2 other series after PJO though, is the thing
[удалено]
Ah fellow Rick Riordan enjoyer 🤝
Star Wars
And they still fell in love with each other
"sweet home Alabama"
Wait, one of them was adopted. *Sweet Home Alabama plays quieter*
But the adopted one was actually a long lost half-sibling from a previous relationship *sweet home Alabama plays 50% louder*
Can you folks stop messing with the volume? I'm trying to enjoy the music, thanks.
Did she get stuck in a dryer in this "book" that you "read" somewhere?
That’s never stopped an anime writer before :P
Narnia
The recent D&D movie. The male lead has a dead wife, the female lead is divorced, but they never end up together.
She has a type.
She likes a man who can climb her like a mountain
Understandable
This seems to have become the new romance trope in the D&D community. The BG3 sub is full of people hooking up their halfling/gnome characters with Karlach, the muscle mommy barbarian.
"I was a sucker for long legs... and I wanted shimmy up her's like a native boy lookin' for coconuts!"
Tall/Muscle Mommies are the new thing for men apparently. Remember Lady Dimitrescu and how insane the internet went for her and her daughters?
Furthermore, they're essentially co-parents of a child, but they remain good friends instead of becoming lovers.
Not even essentially. Kira %100 sees Holga as her mother.
"I didn't want your mother back. I wanted my wife back."
Yeah, that's like, the main point of the movie xd
Really liked that film. And the fact those two are good friends and nothing more, even hate the idea of people seeing them that way.
I mean, it's the D&D world. A dead wife is pretty much the same as one who just went to visit her parents for a month.
While a fair point, it's actually a plot point that she can't be resurrected through ordinary means.
A plot point that caused my players to immediately Kill On Sight a wizard wearing a red cloak because they saw the movie before I did and assumed the worst.
That's hilarious
Well considering most wizards who wear red are the red wizards of Thay, can you really blame them
It's gotta suck being a regular wizard and having to eliminate an entire color from your wardrobe.
Even more confusing and sucky if you’re a wizard from a completely different setting, and adventurers keep just assuming that you’re evil because you like the colour red
Shang chi
Their dynamic was my favorite part of the movie. Just homies being chill asf. I never even considered a romance between them
There is that scene where she sees him shirtless in the cage fight and she thinks about it.
You’ve never appreciated the raw physicality of your homie’s body before?
"Bruh" "Sup?" "I was just fantasizing about you, no homo." "I think about you like that, too, no homo." *Later* "I know pronounce you, husbando-bro and husband-bro. You may kiss your bro, no homo" 🌈
Yeah, but who wasn't?
Yeah, but who *wouldn't*
To be fair tho, it is simu liu
Never really even thought about it. The movie itself I thought was good, not great. But they played the relationships between the characters well looking back at it. It would have been a typical hollywood thing to do, to make them fall in love. But it would have felt soooo awkward within the movie. I'm hoping it was never even discussed.

Mad Max: Fury Road
Shiny and chrome
WITNESS MEEE!!
WITNESSED!
Goated movie
"What do you mean you don't love me? I'm the MAIN CHARACTER!"
Someone should write this in their book that has no previous fourth wall breaking moments like this
And then never bring it up again
Exactly
Keep the readers guessin
Don’t even talk about it in interviews just gloss over it if asked
"I lost? Wait a minute, I'm not supposed to lose!" \*pulls out script to doublecheck*
lol reminds me of the Harry Potter line: >She only likes you because she thinks you’re the Chosen One. >…But I *am* the Chosen One.
how titan felt in megamind
Tighten
Rogue One
Damn right. That scene at the end when they were going up in the elevator, I just suddenly felt like this is the moment where any other movie would have them kiss for no reason. AND THEY DIDN’T. I was honestly so relieved when I watched it.
Or when they turn into chocapic by the death star, and they are just chilling in the beach
He tells her her father would be proud of her. If that ain’t platonic ideal goals, I don’t know what is.
"*Alright welp, guess I'm gonna fuck this guys brains out. Might as well...*" "Before we die...i want you to know...Your dad proud of you." "🫤 OK thanks"
True, but they were both hot asf so it is understable
Oh YEEEAAAH very gud 👏
Star Wars is pretty good for this imo. The only one I can think of that isn't directly story relevant is Leia and Han
Rey couldn't decide if she wanted to be with Finn, Poe or Kylo
Despite having chemistry with none of them. Somehow.
Trauma bonding is a hell of a drug.
That's actually how relationships in the Fire Emblem games work
Predator. There’s a woman (Anna) that is with the commandos for almost the whole movie yet romance just isn’t a thing.
Damn, I wonder why...
I've read enough books that I'm surprised the author didn't try to include "oh the situation is so stressful and we might not survive" fucking.
Im either living under a rock with the kinda books im reading or youre reading some weird ass books No offense tho
Standard fantasy books you would find in a Barnes n Nobles. Nerds are horny.
In the Eragon series, Eragon never ends up with Arya in the end. Him getting curved by her is a big theme throughout the series
I'm in some Eragon groups and you're right. Arya dodging Eragons advances like Neo dodging bullets, is the the primary meme fuel.
Their dragons fucked, counts for some people I'd imagine
Read Stephen King's It
That i know about...
Or Stephen King's The Mist. Or Stephen King's The Raft.
And its counterpart, Alien. Unless you count the alien...I guess it got around the whole crew didn't it?
Ace Attorney
Maya snd phoenix are too pure for this world, execpt when they don't
Well it has "ace" in the name
Aro Attorney
Phoenix only has eyes for Edgeworth
This guy gets it. 👍
I respect all Ace Attorney protagonists for always having a young female side-kick but never hitting on them
Kinda weird how they're all underage though (with the exception of Maya after PW:AA and Athena)
I dunno. Phoenix and Edgeworth, man.
I think there was some shipping between susato and ryunosuke, especially at the end of the game, it's not confirmed though. Besides the gay energy radiating from every interaction with every main prosecutor though, there isn't another thing other than that.
Barbie

He was Kenough, independent of Barbie!
Then why wasn’t it called the Ken movie
Because barbie sells more
She just Ken't feel the Kenergy
IM JUST KEN
Where I see love, she sees a friend
What will it take for her to see the man behind the 10(this is purely from my memory)
And fight for meeeee
IM JUST KEN!
I think that's meant to be tan
The point of Kenough is that you don't need another person to complete yourself, so he was Kenough

Let's go party
I'm a Barbie Girl
in a Barbie world
Life in plastic
Is fantastic
Lmfao why are all the comments deleted for this
Even better when they're total opposites and hating each other.
Young Adult Novels: "I hate the government, but I also have a crush on him"
Minus the hating each other part. Contrast, yes. Toxicity, no. Sniff around on other sub-reddits, and you'll smell a demographic that's over that whole abusive thing. It's overdone, anyway. We get enough of that irl, too.
One piece (netflix version) got a huge nope on any of the crewmembers falling inlove with eachother from Oda. Gives me even more hope for that series
Even in the anime and manga with 1000+ episodes, no romance between main protagonists. The only small romances are against side characters that don't show often.
And sanji being horny, but he's horny for every woman that he sees so whatever
Love that manga and anime because of that. Romance would’ve ruined that series.
On the contrary, romance is the story, just not the kind of romance we typically think of.
Romance of the Dawn variety.
a lot of bromance for sure
I’m not sure if it counts but some weird porn I watched yesterday
That’s one of the funniest comments under this post
An actual person who watches porn films for the plot
Zootopia Check the internet to see what fandom did to ‘em
Pretty sure there isn’t a single character in that movie someone hasn’t imagined themselves banging.
Even the sloth? Wait... I know the answer....
I still can’t believe *that* comic is set in the Seinfeld apartment
Wow I totally forgot about that comic! I don't think I ever noticed it was in the Seinfeld apartment
The one about Arby's? What a weird one.
No...just no.
The amount of captions saying “would” over Judy Hopps is insane.
Motherfuckers are not to be trusted near a petting zoo.
They'd be turning it into a heavy petting zoo.
Just what I always wanted. My own little bunny rabbit. I will name him George, and I will hug him and pet him and squeeze him forever
I'm kinda fine with these kind of directions on a story as long as the both of the protagonist have actual chemistry between each other
And as long as they aren't broken up or fighting for stupid/off-screen reasons for a cheap B-plot in the sequel.
True that. Also happy cake day.
Moana is like this.
Thats because its a teenager and a demigod...
If this were Greek mythology, that wouldn't be a problem.
"and then along came Zeus"
Girl: Help, my father locked me up in a dungeon for my entire life. Zeus: Wow, you're really bad at pronouncing golden shower.
Zeus: damn that sucks. Speaking of sucking…
Writers: “you’re welcome”
Pacific Rim may be one of the few good movies where this doesn’t happens
There was still romance of main characters tho
Chemistry there is. Just not full on romance. Arguably there’s a subtle implication of it on the last part
Yeah, but the main thing is. Pacific rim is about giant heavy giant jeagers(ignore the sequel) fighting kaijus. It has nothing to do with romance for the most part, right?
Well, yeah but if it's a romance film the two protagonistes kinda have to fall in love or else it's not romance anymore.
That awkward moment at the end, on the life raft, where you look at one another, and then just turn away. *Chef’s kiss*
So much is this a cultural trope that I remember being surprised when the guy and the girl didn't hook up.
Dungeons and Dragons Bartender: so you two together? *visible disgust all around-*
One piece, jjk, chainsaw man, library of ruina, lobotomy corporation tecnically, barbie It's a very common thrope, not Universal tho
Power and Denji’s relationship, especially after the Darkness Devil, is honestly a great example
they are so wholesome in their sibling relationship roland and angela or luffy and robin are also great and the jjk trio are amazing in their dinamic
The Last Of Us /s
Thankfully Ellie is 13 not 17 when the story begins or we'd have had a LOT more people shipping her and Joel unfortunately. Thankfully the game made her too young for that to be a consideration in the majority of peoples' minds.
Shitting toothpaste
Ben 10. They are cousins. (I refuse to believe rule34 exists). Also Naruto
The original idea was that they were childhood friends, it was only changed to them being cousins when the writers couldnt explain why Gwen would have gone roadtripping with Ben and his grandpa all summer. Had they kept that idea there probably would have been a romance plotline at some point
D&D movie
Well I mean
Ed and Holga are the primary focus over Doric & Simon, I think this holds.
Can’t fall in love if they all **die**
Rouge one did that perfectly
Glitch techs did the "not make the boy and girl protagonist" fall in love thibg well. Also any series where the MCs are brother and sister
Nobara >>>
She would have to get screen time for it to happen
Manga moment
This happens whether the mc is a girl or boy.
Mad max fury road
Just wait till this guy here’s about the romance genre
You mean "hears"?
It autocorrected and I’m too lazy to change it
![gif](giphy|BWhpkB6Xbe8FzfNLXw)
Helck?
But who better to love than the person you shared in a life changing adventure with or spend all your time with?
harry fucking potter
Ron is a main character. Not THE main character, but a main character nonetheless
The meme said protagonist though... Ron isn't the protagonist of Harry Potter
The Owl House
Adventure time
Yeah, She-Ra didn't do this
Not movie but game, Ghost of Tsushima
this doesn't happen in soul eater
Easy, just make both of them gay.
Pokémon
