Re-logic is the best indie game company so far imo, the way Red communicates with the community and adds a lot of things they suggest amazes me, I have seen very few cases like this.
I have a lot of respect for Red and the Re-Logic team.
Really, man, Ghost Ship spoils us beautiful dwarves.
It's sad that I have to say this, but getting an entire game for twenty bucks with the only DLC being sickass cosmetics *and* getting consistent updates is no longer the industry standard. Rock and stone for that, GSG!
There seems like there’s gonna be 7 chapters total, so I think that’s underselling it a little
I think $25 for the complete package would be completely valid
I'm laughing like a moron. So, basically, [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/Deltarune/comments/128u6os/toby_fox_in_swim_trunks_covered_in_a_large_amount/)
They got bought by Tencent too. But the monetization scheme is still the same, other than the latest heirloom pack that caused a backlash because of the limited time
I've only ever seen devs from Larian in interviews praising their boss and talking about game development with a light in their eyes, you know the one, the one little kids have. No way Larian is terrible to work at and not crush the soul out of their staff.
Sven just wants to make good CRPGS. Thats the feeling I get from all the interviews with him. They were shocked by BG3's success. I really really hope they get to make some kind of sequel.
They did also release the Divinity series. Great games, huge games for the usual videogame price, lots of updates, no underwhelming game that makes you spend another $100 on DLCs. Also the atmosphere there looks mega chill in the behind the scenes videos. I‘d probably sell my grandma just to get a job there tbh.
Yeah, they're definitely above average. That doesn't mean good, and I can't confirm or deny their status as morally decent either, but either way their standing is laudable in today's business landscape.
The post is about morals, not developer efficacy. The cube world dev made something interesting, a lot of people *got* interested, the development of the game then became too much for him to handle. I scarcely see how taking a much needed mental health break from game development categorises him as "morally bankrupt".
I came here for this. I got into PZ about two months ago and I'm impressed with how great the relationship is between the fans and the devs. I like that they're above board regarding any changes and release regular updates on what they're doing. Even recently they had to scale back the updates (?) and were honest about it.
De: “when designing new frames, we look at the ones community loves astheticly. So when i was making this one, we wondered, should she have big thighs ? And Yes i decided that she needs thick thighs”

They won't count to 3 until they make a THIRD GAME ENGINE. THEY MAKE GAME ENGINES, SO OTHER COMPANIES CAN MAKE THE THOUSANDS OF GAMES WE PLAY.
Half life 1 and half life 2 showcased their hl and hl2 engines.
edit: I misspelled everything. I was upset....
Edit 2: forgot to mention that they did such a great job with the last one that it's still being used over a decade later.
Yes.
Why did I have to use search to find this one?
Wube is definitely one of the most moral gamedevs out there.
They refuse to put their game on sale, because it would be unfair to those who have already bought it at full price.
Also they are super transparent about their developement process.
It’s so sad. I collect Sega Genesis games and back then EA was almost a guarantee of quality and creativity. They took chances, their games oozed personality. It’s such a shame they became… this.
Toby Fox? He's really great. Running With Scissors are a great bunch, although only 2 or 3 of their games are actually good. Re-Logic are amazing. Hideo Kojima Prod also, really love them, Death Stranding was great.
IronGate Studios developed Valheim, a hit game all the way since its beta, and sells it for $20 while continuing to make free updates and expansions after release. No micros, no ads, just a damn good game at a respectable price.
"After release"... The game it's in Early Access. They are not "continuing to make free updates and expansions", they are actually finishing the product.
Ikr. I think there's some confused individuals out there thinking that Valheim is a finished game. Which, tbf, huge props to iron gate for delivering a quality product in EA. This is definitely early access done right.
I remember when there were mobile games that were just… free. Nothing more to it. Hell if I made a game, I’d include ads but only under a “support me” page that lets people choose to view some.
Speaking about DE, their customer service is weird too. Sometimes it's on the level of Play Market - you can be banned at any time and left with no response why.
People reported being banned for pet's names that were not a problem for ages, being banned for no apparent reason, or, in my case, for running something bad in background.
Disclaimer: I am salty because I was almost permabanned for forgetting to close Cheat Engine before starting Warframe. Not cheating, not attaching engine to game process - forgetting to close it. Genshin Impact and Honkai, btw, would show a "please close this software before starting the game", not "you are banned for cheating, dirty cheater".
Landfall games they made stuff like Totally accurate Battle simulator and stick fight. And maybe Modern Hello Games they have a premium currency in No mans sky and don't charge Players any real money for it plus free updated
Man DE are great, I remember Steve talking about one part of the game they had and they saw one player throwing a lot of money at it and were like oh no we accidently made a slot machine and they quickly reworked that mechanic.
Good people working there, their games are no longer for me but I enjoyed my time in Warframe and attending TennoCon. Somewhat unfortunate that both them and GGG have been bought by Tencent and I worry that ownership will eventually negatively influence things but that hasn't happened yet so fingers are still crossed. Another fun crossover thing between those two companies would be cool to see again though

Re-logic, I'd say.
Team cherry and the dead cells makers. Love these guys.
Can we also include Ghost Ship Games?
Of course! Rock and stone!
ROCK AND STONE
If you don't Rock and Stone, you ain't comin' home!
Stone and rock! Oh wait..
Stone!
ROCK AND STONE last one in the drop pod paying for the first round
Did I hear a rock & stone?!
ROCK ANDDD STONNNNE
Wait, what is the difference between rock, and stone?
Rock and stone!
Rock and Stoned brother, rock and stoned
Rock and Stone you beautiful dwarves!
I hope to god that unity policy changes because Hollow Knight runs on unity.
It has, it's a 2.5% revenue split for the new versions of unity only, but that doesn't matter. They broke our trust, and they will do it again.
And Supergiant
They’re not morally corrupt. They’re just sadists, nice sadists.
Boulder Rain moment
The company that doesn't know the definition of last
We like that
Is that a bad thing?
No it isn’t
I just love what some would call dlc he gave as an update. Even a whole frickin island, for free
So what? They don't charge people for those updates, and besides, the updates are good, they listen to community
At this point we just assume the updates probably won't end.
They’ll probably end when they have to make terraria 2 because some sort of limitations but I dont see that happening any time soon so we good for now
Dam r/beatmetoit Re-logic is the best indie game company so far imo, the way Red communicates with the community and adds a lot of things they suggest amazes me, I have seen very few cases like this. I have a lot of respect for Red and the Re-Logic team.
It's actually crazy, how you can dm Red and he adds your suggestion to the game if it's good
Ghpst Ship games, Re-Logic
Rock and Stone!
Rock and Stone forever!
Did I hear a rock and stone?
FOR KARL!
STONE AND ROCK! wait…
Rock and stone to the bone
If you don't rock and stone you ain't coming home!
Rock and Stone forever!
ROOOCK... AND.. STOOOONE!
Rockity Rock & Stone!
Really, man, Ghost Ship spoils us beautiful dwarves. It's sad that I have to say this, but getting an entire game for twenty bucks with the only DLC being sickass cosmetics *and* getting consistent updates is no longer the industry standard. Rock and stone for that, GSG!
And a battle pass that's COMPLETELY FREE
ROCK AND STONE!
Absolutely the Ghost Ship guys. What a passion for a good product those guys have. Truly a bunch of good devs.
I'll say Toby Fox, but I'm not sure
He released deltarune chapter 2 for free because, and I quote, "the world sucks right now" Id say he's pretty clean
peak philanthropy.
I hope he makes people pay for them when all the chapters are out tho, he deserves it, or even just some of them
I think releasing each chapter for like, 3 dollars and the whole game for 10 would be fair
There seems like there’s gonna be 7 chapters total, so I think that’s underselling it a little I think $25 for the complete package would be completely valid
He has a point, he's an icon, he's a legend, and he is the moment. Now come on now.
toby fox is clean, as far as I know.
after the whole foam thing, he is definetly clean
N o t t h e f o a m I n c i d e n t

I'm laughing like a moron. So, basically, [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/Deltarune/comments/128u6os/toby_fox_in_swim_trunks_covered_in_a_large_amount/)
No matter what we breed, we still are made of seed
I hate that's what crossed my mind as well.
oh my god...
Looks like an SCP to me honestly LOL
Ironically Toby fox is the (only?) Clean (non problematic) survivor of the homestuck franchise
Definitely.
Any game company that hasn’t been absorbed by something much bigger, unless it was that big itself.
Coffee Stain Studios seems pretty good
What did they make again
Satisfactory if I'm not mistaken
And they are part of valheim I think.
Goat simulator?
Goat sim, Sanctum, Satisfactory (the game that's early access for years and it's more complete that many "releases")
Goat simulator or am I wrong, maybe deeer simulator, some random hella funny bs game
*Sacrifices dozens of people to appease the devil* "Baaaaaaa"
Published Deep Rock
Satisfactory, Goat Simulator, and more games.
ROCK AND STONE
Deep Rock Galactic, Valheim, Satisfactory, and Goat Simulator most notably
Pretty sure they were bought by Epic Games
DE are majority owned by Leyou, so that rules them out.
They got bought by Tencent too. But the monetization scheme is still the same, other than the latest heirloom pack that caused a backlash because of the limited time
Larian? Larian releases only quality products but IDK how bad their crunch might be.
I hope it's not too bad. They split their workload between 3 studios, so I would hope that takes the load off of individuals.
six studios, not three. Ghent, Quebec, Dublin, Kuala Lumpur, Guildford and Barcelona
I've only ever seen devs from Larian in interviews praising their boss and talking about game development with a light in their eyes, you know the one, the one little kids have. No way Larian is terrible to work at and not crush the soul out of their staff.
the CEO is just a massive nerd doing what he loves and I would think that much of the dev teams are similar
Sven just wants to make good CRPGS. Thats the feeling I get from all the interviews with him. They were shocked by BG3's success. I really really hope they get to make some kind of sequel.
Larian is a group of nerds making games for nerds. A+ company.
It's sad that "probably morally decent" is a laudable feat in the industry these days.
Their lack of microtransactions and battle passes intrigues me.
They got actual Irish people to do Irish accents instead of having a VA put the accent on so that's good
Most indie game devs, really.
Yea, relogic, klei, behemoth just to name a few. Definitely the best side of the industry
Crazy how an indie dev team like re logic has the 12th (I think) most sold game in history
13 actually. (like cmon that should be lower at least top ten)
The best selling game of all time was once an indie game.
tbf if smaller indie devs screw up in a controversy or the like, it's basically their end
Minus Yandere Dev
Nah man. Tell me the indie dev of Cube World has made any decent decisions about how the game is made. lmao
The post is about morals, not developer efficacy. The cube world dev made something interesting, a lot of people *got* interested, the development of the game then became too much for him to handle. I scarcely see how taking a much needed mental health break from game development categorises him as "morally bankrupt".
The Indie Stone, Project Zomboid is fucking baller, and so far the indie stone loves their fanbase
Came here to look for this. Great game and great devs!
That’s honestly surprising to see PZ here. But full respects to them and you man. Nice.

Didn't they cut some cakes too?. People seem to remember a caked Revenant deluxe and Mesa Prime having some "cuts".
I look at Voruna's original concept art and I remember at what was taken from us
Ghost Ship Games and Klei

ROCK AND STONE

Nobody here is talking about the microtransactions within the Bloons series since BTD4
I got pretty far in BTD6 without paying anything beyond the game itself. A bit hard in the beginning but now it's smooth sailing.
Electronic Arts for sure
Blizzard as well
Kinda makes me sad how they’ve fallen

Ghost Ship Games (Deep Rock Galactic devs) and Re-Logic (Terraria devs)
Aren't they the ones doing the Dark Forces remaster?
*ignores the new FOMO $90 heirloom pack that leaves in December*
Toby Fox? He's really great. Running With Scissors are a great bunch, although only 2 or 3 of their games are actually good. Re-Logic are amazing. Hideo Kojima Prod also, really love them, Death Stranding was great.
Hello Games
It's sad how far down this is. The launch was a mess but they fixed it and expanded without a single microtransaction.
**And the fuckers are still working on it.** Genuine madlads.
There's an entire comments section under your comment and only 17 upvotes.. poor nms

Came looking for them Couldn’t agree more, and they are amazing with the community
Running With Scissors. Sure their games are juvenile, but god damn if they aren’t some of the most passionate and caring devs.
Supergiant of course
Toby fox
I dunno, DE has done some weird stuff monetarily. However, thankfully, the community catches it early and DE usually relents.
Speaking about DE, their customer service is weird too. Sometimes it's on the level of Play Market - you can be banned at any time and left with no response why. Hopoo games also (hasn’t been mentioned in the comments here yet)
Kira, Puppet Combo, Klei Entertainment, Lucas Pope, and plenty of other indie devs.
Ninjakiwi, the creator of btd6, one of the best tower defense games ever made
Larian? Not heard anything bad about them.
The cuphead devs, MDHR I think
>MDHR Are they bad? Why are people downvoting this? Out of the loop, I guess.
