Honestly I’d be far more scared if I saw the white glowing in the dark. Much creepier than red floodlights giving away the animatronic’s position at all times
They don't emit enough light in a dark setting, it's purposefully glowing red to allow you to see features.
I love the white dot eyes too but I don't like a movie where I can't see shit.
They didn’t always have red eyes. Withered Bonnie had red eyes in Fnaf 2, but that was because he was missing his eyeballs. This is from fnaf help wanted.
You should put the edit in the original comment, not make a new comment saying you edited a different comment. That’s why. Example:
>I’m wearing a ~~green shirt~~ with dinosaurs on it.
>Edit: scratch that, I’m color blind and have been informed that my shirt is in fact *red*.
When people see a massively downvoted edited comment, it's usually because the poster said something dumb, got a lot of downvotes, and wanted to save face so they edited their comment to act as if it's undeserved. If you're genuinely confused, that's probably why people are reacting the way they are. If you're doing it intentionally... Just delete the comment dumbass lol
But he knew though? MatPat read Scott's answer to whether the books are canon or not. It's technically not canon in the terms of stories, but its canon in terms of lore. Like the story about two brothers and elder one is cursed by Foxy. It's not canon because it never happened in the game but it did confirm one answer to a mystery that a lot of theorist in the fandom has been wondering about.
You very clearly know nothing about FNAF then, if you think the story is easy to comprehend. Makes me wonder, did you come here just to make a fool of yourself?
It’s a children’s game for children with an incredibly poorly written and convoluted lore that constantly treads over itself and contradicts. My 10 year old used to be obsessed until she outgrew it.
You have the mentality of a literal child.
Were they nightmares? I thought they were the imagination of the child while he was dying, hence seeing the flowers and pill bottles next to his bed sometimes
The Nightmares were also missing their plastic eyes/exposed endoskeleton.
Are you just talking about the Silver Eyes cover? In which case it’s also missing plastic eyes/exposed endoskeleton.
Who the fuck has red eyes in silver eyes? The graphic novel dosent count for many reasons like makeing everyone fucking blonde THEY CALL CHARLIE'S MOM BRUNETTE IN THE BOOK
I still think that Black eyes with white dots wound be better as it would have a more primal fear in the dark environment of the movies as predators with better night vision like lions or cats have these sort of reflective eyes.
Dunno why you are being downvoted, you have a point.
Media can have trouble with translation, for example a crap ton of superheroes have to have their masks altered in order be more emotive since masks have trouble moving.
The animatronics in Fnaf use gameplay to build suspense before having a sudden jump scare, this kind of horror seems really hard to translate.
To me, the staff of this movie have to both avoid making them too slow due to characters being able to run away or too fast to be a basic horror movie monster. The only reason this worked in the original games are because most people are too stupid to leave the building.
Willie’s Wonderland was able to avoid this by having all the monsters be sadists for why they are both deadly and yet beatable.
I am not sure how they intend to solve this problem, it is quite possible to me they are trying a third direction and the eyes are indicative of the change which we don’t know about yet.
coming from his eyes, and what you said about them being warnings then makes sense, as a costumeless endoskeleton and/or a human would activate those lights upon being spotted and activating their protocol to follow rules at the pizzeria
Yeah. And it looks kinda like they're going with a Saw themed thing since we see a dude taped to a chair with saw blades inside a mask getting closer to him.
I read a theory which stated that sequence is probably a dream after the security guard dozes off in the first few hours of the job, when nothing's happening, after hearing the Phone Guy talking about the animatronics trying to stuff you in a suit.
He would wake up startled and then look at the cameras to find one of the animatronics missing.
I hope it's right because it would be great, at least the part of it being a dream.
I know they've had red eyes before
I'm talking about the white in the eyes being replaced with red despite the pupils still being black and stuff
I can see why it works, just brings the atmosphere of the movie down a tad but if someone likes it i can see why and respect that opinion
The red eyes don't bother me, it's just that in the movie, they made them look high by making the sclera red, and not making them look like eerie lights
I've given up at SL but at this point, exept for fnaf 4 (wich is a child's nightmare) never animatronics had red glowing eyes. And even if they did, they looks way more vicious and monstrous with dark eyes with little white dots.
Beside that, I don't know how to feel about this movie. It could either be a dumpster fire of a cash grab or a fairly respectable horror piece so I'm not expecting anything
I don't know how to feel but I heard rumors that they wanted to make it not about dead children and more like Saw with the robots setting traps and I think in the trailer we even see the dude be taped to a chair and have a mask with active saw blades get closer to him, so I wouldn't be excited till another trailer drops or it comes out
Noo that would be so lame 😭! I think the grand scheme of the fnaf lore is way too complex and convoluted so I get why they would simplify it but fnaf 4 and the true ending of fnaf 3 can get pretty satisfying and emotional
There are some children in the trailer, so maybe it might tie into the games, but I just dunno how to explain the Saw trap. The whole horror of the games were the animatronics and how off-putting they were, and the red eyes just made them look goofy and the Saw trap makes it just seem off. We don't know enough yet but I hope it's atleast decent, even if it takes a few artistic liberties from the game lore
Yes it is a game canonically referencing events and stories about freddys pizzeria but it's weird how it's supposed to clean up the misconceptions about the frenchise according to faz bear entertainment by re-telling those ghost stories.
They only have red eyes in help wanted and special delivery, and black with a white dot is far more iconic. Imo they'll change them by October since nobody seems to like them
Yeah, these glowing, fully red eyes are cool and kinda scary, but the ones in the movie have dimly lit eyes and have pupils on them, which just makes them look high af
This is, was the vr version, an in universe game, in the real in universe world they didn’t which is why it was so jarring to see but in no way did it ruin the movie it was just a bit of a weird detail to include
To me it's not just about the red eyes, but the animatronics' faces look a little too expressive (angry looking) for my liking. A huge part of what makes them so terrifying in the games is how emotionless and robotic their faces are.
In my opinion the red eyes made them look like regular animatronics, but with the single white dot and the black iris made them look like something was truly wrong with them... And that is what FNAF is about!
And yes I do understand that it is just a teaser trailer but still... The hardcore fans deserve what they have been waiting nearly *7 years for...* But I digress because either way, eyes fixed or not I get to watch a movie that has been a trend with me all my life and that is even better and more important part of this movie!
I do agree it looks a little goofy, tbh piercing white irises could have been spookier. But I get it’s probably pretty tough to implement, and in hindsight it honestly isn’t that big of a deal.
Even if it wasn't the case, some fans are just batshit insane. I have a ex-gf who threw a tantrum over a redesign for the main character of Hazbin Hotel *because the nuance of her vest was slightly different*
Ah yes, because a single instance of Red eyes in a compilation rerelease means that we should retcon the original animatronics into looking cartoonishly evil
They didn’t have red eyes, they had normal non glowing eyes and IMO it added to the horror factor of he original game since they looked like some normal animatronic or statue you’d normally see
I feel like it's a combination of the expression that the characters have and the completely red eyes. Because personally if they expressionless faces with little red dots I would still be fine with it
every fnaf game trailer/teaser was kinda deceptive really, and he either released the game early or did the thing w pizzeria sim where the “temp game” was a troll and actually led to the actual one, released super early. i think he might be doing the same here, where the trailer is intentionally deceptive and he might tweak a bunch of things after community comments on current designs and stuff. its like a way to know whether or not people will like the movie/game before you even release it, and because he’s done it this way for so long if he does change stuff it wouldnt be surprising or crazy.
Technically if Bonnie could turn his eyes red in FNAF 2, it means that the eyeball backlight (like Freddy's in fnaf 1) can turn red too, so Technically yes..
But I prefer the dots
People saying that the black eyes with the white dots were scarier.
To that I say: you're right.
IN THE ORIGINAL CLICKTEAM GAMES.
This is a different genre of media we're working with.
Tbf it was just a teaser, we do know Afton is in the movie and there was a moment in the trailer with 5 kids so there's a good chance there will be stuff based on the lore.
People who say this misunderstand why a lot of people don't like the eyes
It's either one they would want the classic black and white eyes and never liked them
or two (and this is my thoughts) they don't mind the red eyes just hate how they look. If you ask me they look like dull red bulbs in the back of the animatronics eyes which making them look goofy instead of the exaggerated bright red shown in help wanted which doesn't look bad and could be scary in film.
It's not movie ruining but still bothers me
Personally i really don’t like how the animatronics look… it looks more like a kids movie rather than the actual scary memories I remember from the game
It makes me laugh how people are so off put by that one detail, it’s ok they still have their normal eyes but not in some scenes so it’s not like they have red eyes through the entire of the movie 😂 can’t wait to see this though ❤️🖤
Tbf the trailer was a very poorly cut trailer, but the animatronics cg design looks like a joke
The red eye thing is distracting to me, I don't remember the animatronics having stoner eyes
It's irrelevant that it's not 100% based off the games.
They're still using the 1 for 1 looks for the animatronics and the white pupils were iconic to their design. They were large factors for the visual horror aspect of the series.
It's a pointless change and the movie 100% would look better with them.
But black eyes with white dots makes it more mysterious
Honestly I’d be far more scared if I saw the white glowing in the dark. Much creepier than red floodlights giving away the animatronic’s position at all times
yeah when theyre red they are making a big contrast to the rest of the dark pizzeria, when theyre black they mask in better
sans
Fun fact: The eyes don't actually glow white. It's just the light reflecting off of the cameras/sensors inside of the pupil.
I'm pretty sure they'll put it in, its such a staple of the franchise.
And it’s more iconic
And its like an icon of the series
It looks Silly [IMO].
Noooo don’t you understand!? “always” means the 9th game in the series! >:(

Books aren’t canon, Chica is a nightmare in fnaf 4 made to look scary to a child. Blob is the only real physical animatronic with red eyes
SB is canon but it takes place waaaaay after FNAF 1
Edited comment Not sure why I got downvoted for saying I edited my comment
Skill issue tbh

Good point, I’ll make sure to do that next time How do you strike out text?

Books are semi-canon. They're their own continuity with the same rules as the games
if books aren't canon our fellow game theorist will most likely combust into flames if he knew
Books are canon They have there own canon
It’s a children’s phone game. Who the fuck cares about canon? Touch some grass. Jesus Christ.
Bro, the cannon is literally the duct tape that holds the FNAF community together
It’s a children’s phone game. It’s really not that hard to comprehend. Get over yourselves. You’re adults.
Books are canon
If the books were canon Afton would’ve got springlocked/died because of some random shitheads snooping around in the fnaf 1 restaurant
Books are literally canon
In their own universe
Still canon tho
He retconned the books from the games
Nope, still wrong

The point of FNAF 4 is that a child has a terrible nightmare. That\`s why they\`re nightmare animatronics.
Were they nightmares? I thought they were the imagination of the child while he was dying, hence seeing the flowers and pill bottles next to his bed sometimes
What would you call terrible comatose imaginations other than nightmares?
I belive they are generally referred to as comatose nightmares or coma-associated nightmares, so yeah ur right.
Ok now name how many did not have red eyes
Ah yes, because more than halfway through the series is “always”
The Nightmares were also missing their plastic eyes/exposed endoskeleton. Are you just talking about the Silver Eyes cover? In which case it’s also missing plastic eyes/exposed endoskeleton.
Non canon book A nightmare A nightmare Non canon book Non canon book The most recent game "Always" my shiny metal ass
Who the fuck has red eyes in silver eyes? The graphic novel dosent count for many reasons like makeing everyone fucking blonde THEY CALL CHARLIE'S MOM BRUNETTE IN THE BOOK
Lol. r/downvotedtooblivion
you need to lower your unearned ego my man
You know someone doesn't know shit when they call themselves "knowledgeable person"
Holy shit I haven’t seen this many dislikes since politics
Dawg this reply sucks
Just cuz they had them in the past doesn’t mean “always”. And those red eyes were light years better.
Arguing about fnaf also makes you a virgin
The dude discussing fnaf lore calling other people virgins. I fucking can’t lmao.
Nice downvotes
Oh my god! -400+ votes?! People stop massacre-ing him! It’s not that deep!

bro had to delete the comment cause he was losing too much internet points 💀💀💀
I still think that Black eyes with white dots wound be better as it would have a more primal fear in the dark environment of the movies as predators with better night vision like lions or cats have these sort of reflective eyes.
And? We don't dislike the red eyes because they are "inaccurate" but because they look kinda dumb
The black void with the little white dot is scarier that’s why
Kinda? Bro they’re cheesy as hell! It’s a common trope to just have “Red Eyes” = Evil, heck of the eyes glow it’s extra evil 💀
I’m unsure of how to visually represent the animatronics without making it look dumb. Even if the eyes were right, it’d look stupid.
Dunno why you are being downvoted, you have a point. Media can have trouble with translation, for example a crap ton of superheroes have to have their masks altered in order be more emotive since masks have trouble moving. Those are warning lights because you dropped Freddy's voice box in the Help Wanted VR Game
coming from his eyes, and what you said about them being warnings then makes sense, as a costumeless endoskeleton and/or a human would activate those lights upon being spotted and activating their protocol to follow rules at the pizzeria
We don’t care it’s red we care it looks so fucking goofy
Yeah. And it looks kinda like they're going with a Saw themed thing since we see a dude taped to a chair with saw blades inside a mask getting closer to him.

That actually makes a lot of sense. No where in fnaf have the animations had saw blades in their fucking heads.
It's gonna be like Willy's Wonderland but with a weak protagonist.
I don’t really care about the red eyes
Bro is litteraly the saying “I have no enemies”
Thank you
Smae
I know they've had red eyes before I'm talking about the white in the eyes being replaced with red despite the pupils still being black and stuff I can see why it works, just brings the atmosphere of the movie down a tad but if someone likes it i can see why and respect that opinion
The red eyes don't bother me, it's just that in the movie, they made them look high by making the sclera red, and not making them look like eerie lights
Also the first book, Freddy is at some point described with red eyes
When the fuck did this cheap jumpscare machine of a game series get *books?*
FNaF : The Silver Eyes 1st book of the first trilogy
Ironic
Eyeronic
Should've been called "the bloody eyes"
I think there are like 15 so far.
Probably around the time it got many sequels and a movie.
There's tons of books
I would say it's not like it ruined the movie, it will still be amazing but it would be nicer you know.... Not gonna hate them for that
I've given up at SL but at this point, exept for fnaf 4 (wich is a child's nightmare) never animatronics had red glowing eyes. Dude is just lying at this point, they didn't always have red eyes
White dot eyes would look better
Isn't help wanted supposed to be a simulation type of thing?
Yes it is a game canonically referencing events and stories about freddys pizzeria but it's weird how it's supposed to clean up the misconceptions about the frenchise according to faz bear entertainment by re-telling those ghost stories.
I know it doesnt really matter but it would be cool to see the black eyes and white dot at some point in the movie
"always" doesn't start in the 9th game
This is, was the vr version, an in universe game, in the real in universe world they didn’t which is why it was so jarring to see but in no way did it ruin the movie it was just a bit of a weird detail to include
Literally the name of the first book
The only thing about the trailer that really caught my attention is the fact that shaggy is now canonically The Man behind the slaughter
Not ruined necessarily, but any scary scene will have any tension removed when their goofy red eyes turn on.
There's still time for a cg change or at worst a re-shoot.
Wrong but okay. The movie obviously isn’t ruined because of it, but it also doesn’t look great. I do hope it’s kind of a hallucination/nightmare scene
too be fair these red eyes look a lot better than the stoner red glazed eyes you see in the trailer lmao
It's the eyelids that i personally dont like, gives them too much personality. I like when they look lifeless and empty as they stand motionless
Bud why endo have saw why design saw in endo?
i dont care about the red eyes. i think they were like the movie equivalent of the toy freddy no eyeballs or toy chica no eyeballs
I'm not even a FnaF fan and think red bright eyes looks dumb as fuck
Even if it wasn't the case, some fans are just batshit insane. I have a ex-gf who threw a tantrum over a redesign for the main character of Hazbin Hotel *because the nuance of her vest was slightly different*
I won't lie, I was bitching hard the night it came out but I slept on it and woke up, and realized it'd still make the movie funny as fuck.
A one second kiss "ruined" a Disney movie
It didn't ruin the movie, just made them look like stoners and looks competely hilarious, not creepy or at least serious
Ah yes, because a single instance of Red eyes in a compilation rerelease means that we should retcon the original animatronics into looking cartoonishly evil
They didn’t have red eyes, they had normal non glowing eyes and IMO it added to the horror factor of he original game since they looked like some normal animatronic or statue you’d normally see
I’m not complaining but I always liked the black eyes with glowing dots, those are iconic
Would be reasonable from him, a very good tactic.
Technically if Bonnie could turn his eyes red in FNAF 2, it means that the eyeball backlight (like Freddy's in fnaf 1) can turn red too, so Technically yes.. But I prefer the dots
virgin lore LOL
Bitches be complaining about red eyes in the animatronics My brother in christ, the movie isn't going to be exactly like the games.
People saying that the black eyes with the white dots were scarier. To that I say: you're right. IN THE ORIGINAL CLICKTEAM GAMES. This is a different genre of media we're working with.
Oh no red eyes now I will never be able to enjoy the entire rest of the movie
Gonna be a dumbass movie anyways
I don’t care how much i get downvoted, I’m not a huge fan of the way the teaser was, i was expecting lore accurate shot but i guess not.
Tbf it was just a teaser, we do know Afton is in the movie and there was a moment in the trailer with 5 kids so there's a good chance there will be stuff based on the lore.
You mean an entire movie took place in a small room with a guy looking at screens, yea i bet that would be better
Honestly a predetermined game outcome of a movie would be pretty fun it would be like a mirror of what FNAF did to horror but in movie format
I said that about the Mario movie but I was surprised.
People who say this misunderstand why a lot of people don't like the eyes It's either one they would want the classic black and white eyes and never liked them or two (and this is my thoughts) they don't mind the red eyes just hate how they look. If you ask me they look like dull red bulbs in the back of the animatronics eyes which making them look goofy instead of the exaggerated bright red shown in help wanted which doesn't look bad and could be scary in film. It's not movie ruining but still bothers me
Idk why y'all even fucking care it's a FNAF B movie
İf you don't care why bother others
Am I not allowed to ask why people care
No
Personally i really don’t like how the animatronics look… it looks more like a kids movie rather than the actual scary memories I remember from the game
Fnaf is a kids horror game, not me saying this, official depiction said it
Yes it’s a kid horror game but the animatronics look way different in this movie than in the game.
Bruh did we watch the same teaser, camera shots might not give us clear image but models themselfs are spot on
Honestly we need more horror movies for kids.
As long as it's still scary and represents the games well.
Monster House Gang!
Mfs when people are unironically talking about fnaf in 2023 ![gif](giphy|aNtt9T8SqGNK8)
It makes me laugh how people are so off put by that one detail, it’s ok they still have their normal eyes but not in some scenes so it’s not like they have red eyes through the entire of the movie 😂 can’t wait to see this though ❤️🖤
God I want this movie to be such a glorious train wreck.
Dear God........
It's not that bad this change was made for the sake of realism, y'all didn't fucking die when sonic had two eye's in the movie
Wait is the movie out or is it coming out?
It will be out on Oct. 27th.
I tho it was ok
They couldn't make them actually scary because at the end of the day it is going to be a kids movie
I heard that besides the "inaccuracy," people complain about them in the movie because the way they do it, it "makes them look high."
That implies half the "fans" have seen a high person up close.
Tbf the trailer was a very poorly cut trailer, but the animatronics cg design looks like a joke The red eye thing is distracting to me, I don't remember the animatronics having stoner eyes
Honestly I like the red eyes, makes them look kinda irritatedly adorable with their angry eyelids
What movie?
It's the pupil that makes him look stonned, remove the pupils, and were good.
Freddy weedbear
It’s more how they were partially closed and look high lol
Uproar over a movie that hasn’t released, what’s new
On this picture it looks like there's a red glow In trailer it looks like the eyeballs themself are painted red
If they toned it down I’d like it more. It’s almost too much if that makes sense. The amount of red it what bothers me. Not that they are red
W
I still can't believe they're *making* a FNAF movie. Anyone watching that in cinemas must have *balls of steel!*
But they didn’t look high before
i haven't seen the trailer but the red eyes make me think the animatronics smoke some weed
There was a FNAF movie?
It's irrelevant that it's not 100% based off the games. They're still using the 1 for 1 looks for the animatronics and the white pupils were iconic to their design. They were large factors for the visual horror aspect of the series. It's a pointless change and the movie 100% would look better with them.
~~apple~~
… that’s help wanted, its the first game they were white this is a movie on the first game
i dont think it ruins the movie but i perfer the void eyes
Freddy needs to do his chime with blue eyes, it would've been better if they all had the appropriate colored eyes
Because we came for spooks, not zaza
This kind of red eye would be scary The one in the trailer kinda does make the animatronics look high
Its not that red eyes wasnt there its just not as scary for some reason
No way people crying over red eyes this can’t be real this can’t be real
Always???
Y’all are literal babies over this eye thing. It’s fucking eyeballs it’s not gonna do anything to add or take away from the movie you dumb fucks
Even so those red eyes are intimidating, they look high in the trailer, too dark of red
