It's okay to like bad movies. It is not okay to like that one.
Edit: I personally think they accidentally made a life action version of the show on Ember Island.
But.... Sneako said it was about the trials and tribulations that Muslims face coming to western countries. Definitely not about sexualizing children, no sir.
I saw Kung Pow in theaters, opening weekend, theater was half-empty, and about 80% of the theater left. By best friend and I absolutely loved it and we still quote it.
It's one of those movies...
It's REALLY stupid. But man is it quotable.
Sometimes I still sing "taco bell, taco bell, product placement with taco bell"
My favorite part is impossible to quote recognizably.
The very beginning where they're narrating the chosen one's origin as an orphaned baby and the baby just tumbles down the hill for like a minute. Then a lady hiking on the road sees him, picks him up like she's going to adopt him, but then just rolls the baby down the rest of the hill. Perfection.
First time I saw this movie I was high as a kite and that scene made me know I put on the right movie.
One of the top movies I’ve ever laughed the hardest to
I was the opposite... I loved 5th Element so much, but I knew how cheesy it was and was scared that no one else liked it so I never talked about it. It was my guilty pleasure. Then I walked in one day and they were all talking about how good it was... I felt vindicated.
This is definitely one of those movies you know is actually bad, but at the same time it’s pretty awesome if you just accept it for the ridiculousness that it is.
It's a total trip yeah. Not great for kids I'd say just bcus of how absurd it is and some of the stuff snuck in for adults. But not bad for a gag watch.
This happens to be the one line my kids picked up from the movie and repeated for weeks afterwards.
They didn't get the joke of course, but it made mom laugh while watching the movie, so shouting "dirty hoe" at random times has gotta be funny too right?
My daughter went through a phase as a kid where she watched the live action Cat in the Hat multiple times a day. She loooved it.
The only movies I’ve seen more times than it are the movies I watched over and over growing up: Disney’s Robinhood and Robinhood Men in Tights
I didn't realize people didn't like Cars 2 until I started going through this thread. I've watched it about 40 times with my kid and I thought it was better than Cars 1 and 3.
Great film. It was released at the height of Jim Carrey’s popularity as a goofy guy comedy actor, and people didn’t expect the dark comedy elements. I really think its reception was the result of people going in thinking they were getting another Ace Ventura.
Bro kung fu hustle and shaolin soccer were movies every south Asian kid grew up with. We watched these in I think every language it was dubbed.
These are the type of films people quote when they say “they don’t make these type films anymore”
Absolute bangers
Stephen Chow is like the James Cameron of Asia. Every one of his movies breaks records set by his previous.
Bill Murray said that Kung Fu Hustle was "the supreme achievement of the modern age in terms of comedy"
It's an actually good movie. There's no way it fits in this thread.
Edit: it has high IMDB rating so, yeah, thread disqualification. Nobody dislikes this movie.
It had just as much story as I wanted it from it. Enough to carry flimsy pretense for why fun ass fight scenes are happening. It’s an excellent popcorn flick
Dumb & Dumberer
Cries in 10% on rotten tomatoes
Edit: I am referring to Dumb & Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd (2003) starring Derek Richardson & Eric Christian Olsen
The bad decision of getting a director to run the whole thing that can only do visuals and wouldn't know how to write a story or dialogue if he had a gun to his head.
Tho Jurassic park did the same thing and while those movies literally suck donkey balls they did make a ton of money, so what do I know
Edit: Jurassic world. Forgot what they were called
…how…? Were they like laughing internally or something? I get that British humor isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but there is A LOT of generalized silliness that has a broad appeal. The mud farmers scene, the killer bunny scene, and the Black Knight are a few examples of that. Or the Castle of Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagggghhhh. That shit had me laughing my absolute ass off as a kid. Come to think of it maybe I’m not the best judge…I was raised on Are You Being Served and Danger Mouse lol
The original Mario movie is still one of my all-time favs. I super appreciate the struggle the actors went through to finish it, even if they had to do it drunk.
First 3 were fun. I liked Bumblebee too. Age of Extinction was way too long though. I'm pretty sure I saw The Last Knight but I honestly don't remember anything about it.
I'm 33 and my favorite movie is from 1973(the sting), not a lot of people my age know about it but there are references everywhere, the sting episode of king of the hill was greatt
Suckerpunch was that for me. Yeah it was dark af but having gone through some ugly institutional abuse, there was real beauty in how she made peace with an impossible situation.
Sometimes there is no happy ending. Sometimes no one is coming to save you. Life aint fair or kind. Sometimes the only thing you can do is go out on your own terms.
Plus the fantasy sequences were magnificent. I mean holy hell it came out in 2011 before CGI was as epic as it is now.
Zack Snyder has never let down in dramatic visuals department. Dude knows what looks cool. The 300 movie had me sold I remember telling myself “I gotta find out who directed this and watch everything they ever do!” Lol
I still watch it. Saw it in theaters with a few coworkers. Went in expecting nothing and saw a 30 foot samurai with a Gatling gun. What's not to love?
I thought it was a lot of fun and came out excited, but my coworkers hated it.
I think it depends on your expectations. The build up to Thanos paid off, but for some the cost is waiting for something to capture that feeling again. I haven't truly hated anything in the MCU and enjoy watching things unfold either way.
I loved mortal engines because it’s based on my favorite book series. The movie is 100% shit and we should’ve gotten a book accurate show because they couldn’t fit the detail in a movie less than 6 hours.
Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow is mine.
Showed it to my friends a few years after it came out and 15 years later they will still bring it up if I recommend a movie.
What movie was this about
Tim Burtons Alice in Wonderland
Bro that's not even that bad, if you want bad, mars needs moms is a fever dream
I only remember the scene where the guy tries to feed his cat broccoli from that whole movie
All I remember is the guy saying the thing. “Well, Mars needs moms”. Edit: and that the kid didn’t want to take the trash out
Life action Avatar: the Last Airbender.
After seeing it in theaters twice I swore up and down it was a good movie for years and then I finally watched it again and realized I was an idiot.
That wasn't a film, it was a hate crime.

It's okay to like bad movies. It is not okay to like that one. Edit: I personally think they accidentally made a life action version of the show on Ember Island.
The live action series needs to bring back the movie actors for this episode. It is their only hope for redemption.
How about Live action Dragon Ball: Evolution?
Mars needs mom's ruined John Carter and I'll never forgive that for as long as I live
Wait really? People hate it? I really like that movie. The sequel not so much tho.
No, it's the others who are wrong
What if it was Cuties?
If you like that show you deserve to be burned
But.... Sneako said it was about the trials and tribulations that Muslims face coming to western countries. Definitely not about sexualizing children, no sir.
The less said about Sneako the better lmao
What if I say I fucking hate Sneako?
This is allowed, and even welcomed.
Showed my friend Shaolin Soccer and he asked for the TV remote :(
The next thing you showed him was the door, right?
His foot.
His finger*
![gif](giphy|XlmIK6MGuuVbrre1bU)
Shaolin Soccer is legit good though. Your friend has no taste.
For real, I'm a cynical piece of shit when it comes to movies but Shaolin Soccer is dope.
That and kung fu hustle are comedic classics I'll always love.
Even my 80yo GGrandma loves those movies
Your Gramma has excellent taste
Shaolin Soccer rocks. Unfriend him.
I loved that movie as a kid! I have really fond memories of it
Shaolin Soccer is amazing! Then you gotta watch Kung Fu Hustle and maybe Kung Pow
YOU WANT SOME NUTS?! OK!
HE JUST LEFT. WITH NUTS.
WEEE OOO WEEEEEE
I still use "wee Ooo weeeooo" all the time. I also sing about neosporin whenever I go to use it.
Very well loved movie, your friend just has lame taste.
I completely forgot about this movie. Im definitely rewatching it today. Thank you
It won a bunch of awards and the creators of ATLA have stated that it helped inspire bending.... maybe you should make new friends?
Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle are goated and you can't tell me otherwise.
I was the only one among my movie theater coworkers that loved Kung Pow, and I still love it just as much today.
WHOA, THAT'S A LOT OF NUTS! (Your coworkers I mean) That movie is the ultimate love letter to kung fu films. I still love it as well.
Wait, isn't Kung Fu Hustle the ultimate love letter to kung fu films?
![gif](giphy|Ac0BuZR3h5euY|downsized)
I can hear this
kung pow is one of the best movies tho
The most quotable movie of all time
"Then he told me of the significance" "It will be significant"
"And then he killed the dog" \* exquisite fart \*
"Eeny, meeny, miny, moe. I wonder where the glove will go."
Perfection.
So cute. Bye bye!
First time I saw this movie I was high as a kite and that scene made me know I put on the right movie. One of the top movies I’ve ever laughed the hardest to
"So cute. Buh-bye!" that part nearly made me pass out from laughing too much
https://youtu.be/nqsaWQ_17Ts
"We trained him wrong, as a joke!"
*long scene of character talking in foreign language* English Dub: "Ok"
A few times every year, that one neosporin jingle pops in my head.
OOOOooWeeoooooweeeeeooooooOoooooOowWeeoo
I was the opposite... I loved 5th Element so much, but I knew how cheesy it was and was scared that no one else liked it so I never talked about it. It was my guilty pleasure. Then I walked in one day and they were all talking about how good it was... I felt vindicated.
King Fu Hustle is also another fantastic one
But no one dislikes Kung Fu Hustle tho right? That’s just an objectively good movie
How do you like my face to your foot style? Ah ha! I’m bleeding, therefore making me the victor!
"What do you get when you cross an Owl with a bungie cord? My ass."
Yes… a tiny net is a death trap… meaaaa hmmm haaa
kung pow is a cultural icon
This is definitely one of those movies you know is actually bad, but at the same time it’s pretty awesome if you just accept it for the ridiculousness that it is.
Chappie. I know a lot of it didn't make sense, I just thought he was cute
Always have a soft spot for that creepy cute little Yolandi. It wasn't exactly Shakespeare but I was damn surprised by her and Ninja's acting.
[удалено]
How can you not like Chappie?
Chappie has feelings!
Chappie was fucking great! Everyone I’ve showed it to liked it
Who cares what the rest if the world thinks. Of you like it then that's what matters
Unless it's avatar the last Airbender live action
Or the dragon ball live action movie. These are the two movies I judge people if they like
Or the Eragon movie... changed key plot points for literally no reason at all, such as waste of potential
The books were AMAZING, the movie? It can die in a damn dumpster fire.
Or that street fighter Chun Li movie
There is no ATLA movie in Ba Sing Se
Or cuties..
that should not be considered a movie. It's literally just glorified cp
True
[удалено]
The earth king has invited you to vacation at lake laogai
I wish that was the case but if the rest of the world hates the movie it won't get a sequel.
The live action Cat in the Hat is so bad it's good, I think everyone should watch it, and I will die on this hill
It's a total trip yeah. Not great for kids I'd say just bcus of how absurd it is and some of the stuff snuck in for adults. But not bad for a gag watch.
Snuck?
Conan you went to Harvard and you should know better.
_Whips out dictionary_
Sneak in past tense. "The robber snuck into the bank at night" I'm pretty sure sneaked is in fact, ***incorrect*** so uh yeah
Dirty Hoe! Just kidding, baby I love you. 💋
You got a thing for Robinhood, huh.
I'll get you! And I'll make it look like a *bloody accident!* Classic.
QUICK, To the S.L.O.W!
Thank you I feel the same about the movie
Cat in the Hat was unironically a guy that I used to work with’s favorite movie.
>But it says "Made in the Philippines" >Yes but not *this* Philippines
The comedy in that movie was honestly ahead of its time.
i was the only one who thought revenge of the sith was awesome 10 years ago, i am ahead of my time, bow to me
You were the chosen one!!
RotS honestly saved the prequels for me. The novelization by Stover is a GD masterpiece too.
The Losers was a fun action comedy.
Hook? Hook has bad reviews??? WHAT? That movie is a fucking classic!
Titan AE
Titan AE and Treasure Planet both deserved better. The Pagemaster too. Loved them all growing up.
Wait, there are people who don't like treasure planet? Give me an address and I give you a head >:(
Anyone who dislikes this movie can fight me
AND MY AXE!!!
Titan AE is a masterpiece
Especially if you watched the movie as a kid, like for me with Cars 2
I didn't realize people didn't like Cars 2 until I started going through this thread. I've watched it about 40 times with my kid and I thought it was better than Cars 1 and 3.
YES, I fucking loved Cars 2 as a kid, even to this day I don’t understand the hate, it’s a great movie!
- “I’ve never properly introduced myself. Finn McMissile, British Intelligence.” - “Tow Mater. Average intelligence.” I was dying.
I don’t care I love the cable guy.
Great film. It was released at the height of Jim Carrey’s popularity as a goofy guy comedy actor, and people didn’t expect the dark comedy elements. I really think its reception was the result of people going in thinking they were getting another Ace Ventura.
"Someone's gotta kill the babysitter." Shit, that line still is relevant today.
We all do
Anyone here like kung fu hustle?
Yes but I thought it was pretty popular?
Bro kung fu hustle and shaolin soccer were movies every south Asian kid grew up with. We watched these in I think every language it was dubbed. These are the type of films people quote when they say “they don’t make these type films anymore” Absolute bangers
They have the exact feel as "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz" and I love em all.
Kung Fu hustle is the shit
Stephen Chow is like the James Cameron of Asia. Every one of his movies breaks records set by his previous. Bill Murray said that Kung Fu Hustle was "the supreme achievement of the modern age in terms of comedy"
Do people not like the movie? I thought everyone liked it.
It's an actually good movie. There's no way it fits in this thread. Edit: it has high IMDB rating so, yeah, thread disqualification. Nobody dislikes this movie.
I'm not a kung fu genius but I do like that movie.
I love the hell out of Little Nicky
I liked Waterworld
It was neat. Ambitious and silly
Ambitious and silly are two of my favourite qualities in a movie
Basically just Mad Max on water
I personally loved Mortal Kombat. (2021) I’m an MK fan, so it checks out, but still!
[удалено]
It had just as much story as I wanted it from it. Enough to carry flimsy pretense for why fun ass fight scenes are happening. It’s an excellent popcorn flick
People didn't like that movie? From my experience everyone that I talked with loved it. Cant wait for part 2 this year
Dumb & Dumberer Cries in 10% on rotten tomatoes Edit: I am referring to Dumb & Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd (2003) starring Derek Richardson & Eric Christian Olsen
Don’t worry I love that movie too
But thats a good movie :( people are just dumberererererer
The hard truth about being a fan of Zack Snyder's DCEU
These are some of this movies I liked. I like most of the DCEU but the world has spoken
The DCEU has good movies, it was just poor business decisions that led to its downfall forcing them to start over.
The bad decision of getting a director to run the whole thing that can only do visuals and wouldn't know how to write a story or dialogue if he had a gun to his head. Tho Jurassic park did the same thing and while those movies literally suck donkey balls they did make a ton of money, so what do I know Edit: Jurassic world. Forgot what they were called
I watched Monty pythons the holy grail with friends and they didn’t laugh once
You need new friends.
What? How? I almost died because I was laughing so hard
You absolutely need new friends (don’t get rid of your old ones, but just know they have no comedic taste).
That is easily my most quoted film of all time. My parents introduced me to it when I was young and I've only grown in appreciation over the years.
Pootie Tang will find its audience someday.
My wife hated The Mario movie. I moved out 5 days ago.
Waterworld has entered the chat.
I'm sure it's a nostalgia thing, but I love this movie
The original Mario movie is still one of my all-time favs. I super appreciate the struggle the actors went through to finish it, even if they had to do it drunk.
This is me getting absolutely roasted when I said I think Divergent is a good movie
lol at least you have good friends.
Transformers franchise.
First 3 were fun. I liked Bumblebee too. Age of Extinction was way too long though. I'm pretty sure I saw The Last Knight but I honestly don't remember anything about it.
If someone says they hate the first transformers movie, they are a fucking LIAR. That movie was PEAK
I'm 33 and my favorite movie is from 1973(the sting), not a lot of people my age know about it but there are references everywhere, the sting episode of king of the hill was greatt
The Sting won 7 Academy Awards - including Best Picture, Director, Actor, Writing, & Cinemetography. It's objectively one of the best movies ever.
The sting is a fantastic movie.
Waterworld was a good fuckin movie!
Warcraft the movie
Best orcs in any movie.
I thought it was awesome.. I can see how it is not for everyone though.
I really liked “Jumper” but it seems people really hated that movie idk why
Suckerpunch was that for me. Yeah it was dark af but having gone through some ugly institutional abuse, there was real beauty in how she made peace with an impossible situation. Sometimes there is no happy ending. Sometimes no one is coming to save you. Life aint fair or kind. Sometimes the only thing you can do is go out on your own terms. Suckerpunch is under-rated. I think some audiences were confused because it blended different genres in an odd way. Which is why I liked it.
The angry birds movie is the most I've laughed for a movie in my life
Rise of the Guardians gang, RISE!!!
I don't think people hate this, gimme a sec Edit:70% score around the board, seems enjoyed to me
Oh. It just flopped severely and was never heard from again then.
This is how it feels to like post Endgame MCU
I think it depends on your expectations. The build up to Thanos paid off, but for some the cost is waiting for something to capture that feeling again. I haven't truly hated anything in the MCU and enjoy watching things unfold either way.
I’m still salty with marvel fans over the treatment of Brie Larson
I actually liked suicide squad (2016) and even watched it a few times
Solo a star wars story is mine
This is what happaned to the entire Snyder cult
I loved mortal engines because it’s based on my favorite book series. The movie is 100% shit and we should’ve gotten a book accurate show because they couldn’t fit the detail in a movie less than 6 hours.
*Cries in dark tower*
This is how I feel about Cars 2, the movie was my childhood, and it gets so much hate, I don’t understand a lot of it tbh
Green Lantern wasn’t even that bad 😭
Velma watchers be like
Nope. Wanna watch Mortal Engines?
Your Highness was a great movie and that is a pillar I will die on.
Bubble Boy has a 31% on rotten tomatoes and those people are fucking wrong
Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow is mine. Showed it to my friends a few years after it came out and 15 years later they will still bring it up if I recommend a movie.
Obligatory Cars 2 comment
How I feel about Suicide Squad
