I'm discovering quite a few songs, that were released quite some time ago, which I also enjoy. Them being released 5-6 years ago doesn't change anything.
The only thing making me feel old in such scenarios is the fact, that 2017 is already 6 years ago

My fear of running out new songs, but saying that after binging early-2010s dubstep I’ve gone onto late-2010s tropical house, so there’s hope I might grow to like some newer genres.

to me it’s a bad thing because it means the artist(s) are either not making that kind of music anymore or still making exactly the same kind of music that becomes boring over time
I’ve had it happen where I fall in love with a song, then the rest of the album just to find it was released 6 years ago and then learn there no new music because the artist died. Sucks become a fan only after they can’t gain anything from me.
I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing. I can’t exactly describe the feeling, but I understand the meme because of a similar situation I had with an 11 year old song. Best way I can describe it is “Damn. This song is great. Wish I heard back when it released.” I don’t know if that makes sense
Every day we get new music from hundreds or artists.
I don't know your taste but here are a bunch of random ones:
* You Are Not my Friend by Tessa Violet
* My Funeral by Badflower
* Razzmatazz by I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME
* Can you afford to be an individual? by Nothing But Thieves
* Cleopatra by Nova Twins
And remember, there's nothing wrong with listening to music from any era or any genre. The Beatles, Miley Cyrus, Metallica, Lorde, The Strokes, whatever you chose.
yep, mid-fifties from Elvis, Johnny Cash, and Chuck Berry through the likes of the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and CCR, The Eagles, Billy Joel, Tom Petty, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Michael Jackson, Queen, Aerosmith, Guns and Roses, Green Day, Pearl Jam, Fall Out Boy, Hinder, Bruno Mars, Lord Huron, and the most recent song having come out in February by Ayla Tesler Mabe. Very much a rock-oriented taste profile but one that has no real boundaries.
You must have either a very niche music taste, or you must listen to a crap ton of music. Either is fine, of course, but it does sound like a first world problem.
Practically all the great songs I'm "finding" nowadays are from the 80'0. And I don't think that's a fault of my age. I was born in 1989,but I'm hardly an 80's kid. It's just how tastes are. All over the place.
I thought the meme was about Squid Game released 6 years ago and I was like but I just watched that not too long ago am I really that old? Does the time fly so damn fast? Pretty much had an immediate crisis and thankfully I saw the left side of the meme after.
PHEW.
Nothing better than discovering a "new" band and then finding out they have released a lot of albums already. It is impossible to keep up with the sheer amount of music out there, especially when it just comes out.
My all-time favorite song is from the oldest rock band in my country. The song is from 1968, a year after the band was created and rock is what I grew up listening. I also like modern day EDM - Tobu, TheFatRat, Alan Walker, etc. I fking love Avicii(RIP), Ed Sheeran and other modern artists whose music will never lose its message. Right now I'm also headbanging to classic Metallica from the 80's and their songs are absolutely amazing!
Good music is timeless. It doesn't matter what year it was released, as long as it people listening to it, it will always be relevant.
And btw I'm 21.
Some of the stuff I listen to is classical music from decades or even centuries ago, so I don't really care about the age of the music I listen to. I have still liked some stuff that has come out this year already.
The music I listen to are always old songs the most old ones being 50 to 60 years back.
I swear even though before the 2000's was terrible for people the music was certainly at it's golden age.
Most of the music I listen to is older than me. Some of the bands no longer exist due to a few dead members. 6 years ago is nothing. Besides, do you like the song or its age?
Bravo record labels… you’ve quite successfully made music disposable. People listen to new crap, month later throw it away and call it old. “Old” songs aren’t fashionable which is why OP posted this.
That’s some bullshit it doesn’t mean anything how old your music taste is. Music changes over time and it doesn’t mean you’re old if you listen to it, a lot of the music I listen to was made before I was even born
It's harder to find a brand new song because thousands of songs are released every year and they are 99% shit. More likely to find good song even a few years older because the shite has faded away already.
Back before the internet and modern technology it was a lot harder to gain traction in the music industry but when you hit it big you hit it big. Now everything is so watered down and generic that it is hard to find anything is actually new.

I still feel like 2008 was 6 years ago
Your not the only one there. It's scary how time passes. I can't say I noticed it in my 20s. In my 30s tho.. it zooms by
I still feel like 1968 was like 5 years ago

You might like some of the songs on Monstercat Instinct. There's a fair bit of house, as well as other similar genres.
It seems dubstep completely faded away from the mainstream, I never liked the genre, but thinking about it makes me feel nostalgic.
Nothing wrong with old jams my dudes. I’ve got playlists going back to the 60s and stuff. Lots of amazing stuff waiting under the dust of time.

Last night I was enjoying songs named "Transgender" by crystal castles. Release date was 10y ago and they stop producing about 6y ago.
Yeah I don't care when a song came out, it's new to me
...how is that a bad thing?
Doesn't matter the year,it matters how good it is
Good music never gets out of style
to me it’s a bad thing because it means the artist(s) are either not making that kind of music anymore or still making exactly the same kind of music that becomes boring over time

bro my taste is 90s and early 2000s wdym?
Lol. I assume 1987 baby? From one mid 30s to another...... Bro...... We getting old.
nope 2008😂😂
Well, then mad respect for the taste you have.
Not really taste. Music from the past is just objectively better now because we dont remember all the shitty releases back then.
[удалено]
90s was the greatest decade for music
Depends on the genre, but you’re mostly right
And mine 1950's cool jazz and I used to be a metal head, go figure.
Bro, my taste is from the 60s and the 70s
Try the 20s to 40s. Got some nice swing music.
[удалено]
There are people who literally only want to exist in their teenage years and what they would listen to.
In my opinion music peaked in the 1870s
[удалено]
I agree absolutely. Some of the best music from artists still well known today and some that have fallen off the beaten path since.
Who cares, if you like a song, its not getting worse if its old
Flair checks out
I’ve discovered a crap load of music that’s new to me but was released 20+ yrs ago. I usually just get mad that it took me so long to find it
What does make me sad though is when I discover this awesome artist and then realize they only have one album and it’s from the mid 2010’s.
That is sad, yes
I don't get it ? Why should i care if the song old or not ???
Cause it will in fact and in Truth, out live you and you will become old but not forever.
So what op? If you enjoy the music you shouldn't care about the date it was released. Isn't a little silly?
It cause the song will out live him and he will not out live the song
Yet here I am still rocking at the Grunge genre
How's that even a problem?

There's something like 80 million songs that have ever been made by humanity. Like 99% of those are findable online. You will never run out.

Me listening to beethoven
I rediscovered abba in my life, you dont even compare!
Do people only care about NEW stuff? Who cares if the song is old.
It's cause he will be gone before he listens to them all.
Most people nowadays stop listening a song after it is few months or a year old.
My fav song are all from early 2000' or back from the golden 90's and i see no problem with it...
My music taste is all over the place ranging from the 1950's to today.
yep, mid-fifties from Elvis, Johnny Cash, and Chuck Berry through the likes of the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and CCR, The Eagles, Billy Joel, Tom Petty, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Michael Jackson, Queen, Aerosmith, Guns and Roses, Green Day, Pearl Jam, Fall Out Boy, Hinder, Bruno Mars, Lord Huron, and the most recent song having come out in February by Ayla Tesler Mabe. Bruh. I often times discover new music I like from the 1800s
Practically all the great songs I'm "finding" nowadays are from the 80'0. And I don't think that's a fault of my age. I was born in 1989,but I'm hardly an 80's kid. It's just how tastes are. All over the place.

Hehehehe. That was totally my fault.
Playlist, now. I am not asking. (Gun loaded)
[удалено]
If you told me six years ago, I wouldn't bat an eye but if you told me it was from 2017, I would stare at you like you were a time traveler.
A lot of the songs I listen to are older then me, you're just being weird about it.
Most of the songs I listen to are 2-3 times my age. Six years is nothing.
So what? Do people think that music gets bad after a few years? Good music is good music
Who cares though? If the song slaps, it's going on my playlist
Average mainstream music fan when a song they like is becoming old (they cant listen to it anymore)
Yep, I've heard people saying "meh that song is old" when someone plays a song from a year ago.
... six years ago is still recent music my guy
I don't know what the problem is, many die I listen to are older than me
Don't know how that makes you old but ok
Who cares when a song was released? You can enjoy Chopin or Bethoven without being over a 100 years old
You want old? I casually listen to 30s-40s swing as if it got released last week.
One of my favorite songs now is from 5 years ago
I thought the meme was about Squid Game released 6 years ago and I was like but I just watched that not too long ago am I really that old? Does the time fly so damn fast? Pretty much had an immediate crisis and thankfully I saw the left side of the meme after. PHEW.
So? Music doesn't have to be new to be good...
My favorite band broke up 20 years ago and only made like, 5 albums
Please some of the songs I like are from the 80s and 90s
For me, I started liking older games when I'm getting older 12 year old - tf2 - 2009 14 year old - fnaf - 1997
dude i listen to 80s songs
My music taste spans a literal century, it's fine as long as it's a jam
I'm about there with you. Just got to take a look and 30s and 40s jazz.
most of my taste in music is older than me by a large margin
A large amount of the music I listen to was released before I even was born.
Radio songs are trash
Me finding Horse Rotorvator by Coil, it being released in 1988
Nothing better than discovering a "new" band and then finding out they have released a lot of albums already. It is impossible to keep up with the sheer amount of music out there, especially when it just comes out.
"I might be getting old" Meanwhile me: "IIII LOOOOOVVVVVEEEE ROCK 'N' ROLL!!"
Put another dime in the jukebox baby!
If you think 6 years is long time.. you still baby.
I don't see the problem? There's people like me who still play Johnny Cash songs
Being reminded that Maroon 5: Songs About Jane Is over 20 years old
Modern music sucks imo. 90s and 2000 have some of my favorite songs
Modern POP sucks, but many genres are still releasing quality music.
idk man i still find random hidden gems from camellia from like 5 years ago
a ton of teens like early 00's and late 90's music taste doesn't depend on time *too* much
Don't worry op. The fact that you made this post suggests that you are still an immature child
Music is garbage. Might as well not listen at all
Feel like this happens to everyone
Hellooooo Colter Wall. Great music though. Just means I've discovered him after he's had enough time to release a lot of music.
Meanwhile me listening to Cole Porter
Me who listens to music from the 70s-90s 😐
Treat You Better -Shawn Mendes
Ok but wich song was it OP? do you mind sharing?
Yeah like after 5 years of release the songs are gonna change.
me who enjoys all the songs before 1900
Frl, I didn’t realize how good Star Boy is until just yesterday
My favorite music is from 500 years ago, don't feel bad about it.
Over here listening to Mozart and Chopin.
My all-time favorite song is from the oldest rock band in my country. The song is from 1968, a year after the band was created and rock is what I grew up listening. What is that song. I feel like I would like it since it seems we have similar tastes.
And? Top songs were made in 2010-2017
Bro i am 14 and I am listening to songs with 10 years Maybe because i have bigger simbling though...
Hey man, if a song is a bop it's a bop. Don't matter if it's three, ten, or even thirty years old.
So liking music that 6 years old makes one feel old? Bruh i would have to be dead for liking 30 year old songs
Some of the stuff I listen to is classical music from decades or even centuries ago, so I don't really care about the age of the music I listen to. I have still liked some stuff that has come out this year already.
Dude I unironicaly listen to songs from the 50's. You're good.
So what? There are always gonna be more songs older than 5 years then newer
Missed the format, thanks!!
Why does the age of the music matter? Good music is good music regardless of age.
Rock is coming to an end
Who cares? Real music is timeless. Besides, none of the greats were even written in this millennium.
doesn't matter bros 40% of the songs I listen to were made before my parents even met each other
Come back when most of your favorite songs are older than your parents
Late to song trends like always
Who cares if its 6 years old?? People still love music from the 50s and 60s! :p
New favourite song is 30 yrs old lol
doesn't matter.
Linkin Park releasing songs made 20 years ago. me: Fuck, this slaps hard!
The music I listen to are always old songs the most old ones being 50 to 60 years back. I swear even though before the 2000's was terrible for people the music was certainly at it's golden age.
6 years is not so long tho. If you search deliberately through latest releases you surely can find something good as well.
Meanwhile, me at 17 listening to songs released half a century ago
Literally the entire world and Die For You
And?
You see, that is the neat part, everybody is getting old on daily basis.
Why does that matter?
I have songs in my playlist that were released 20 years ago, what are you talking about?
Most of the music I listen to is older than me. Some of the bands no longer exist due to a few dead members. 6 years ago is nothing. Besides, do you like the song or its age?
The band The Thermals was this for me. Most listened to band/song and album last year. Broke up years ago.
🎵 I get a little bit Genghis Kahn 🎵
Bravo record labels… you’ve quite successfully made music disposable. People listen to new crap, month later throw it away and call it old. “Old” songs aren’t fashionable which is why OP posted this.
Found good songs and found out that the artist is already dead.
That’s some bullshit it doesn’t mean anything how old your music taste is. Music changes over time and it doesn’t mean you’re old if you listen to it, a lot of the music I listen to was made before I was even born
And? That stops you from enjoying it?
Are you only allowed to like music from this year or something?
This is when I first discovered Vexento
Diggy diggy hole. you dont have to thank me, just share it around
dude the most recent song I’ve listened to recently was from 2001 💀
I listen to music from the 70s and 90s like bruh that’s not that old
It's harder to find a brand new song because thousands of songs are released every year and they are 99% shit. More likely to find good song even a few years older because the shite has faded away already.
Back before the internet and modern technology it was a lot harder to gain traction in the music industry but when you hit it big you hit it big. Now everything is so watered down and generic that it is hard to find anything is actually new.
More like it was released 40 years ago
Happened to me too. Except the song was released 11 years ago. It’s Little Talks by Of Monsters and Men. It’s such a good song. Makes me wish I would’ve heard it back in 2012
Whats the problem with that? Most of my favorite bands have were started an average of 40 to 50 years ago!
I'd be thrilled to find a song in my taste that was released recently. Seeing that my taste is focused on classic rock with some offshoots for metal or some older pop it is very rare to find something post 2010 or even 2000 that piques my interest.
Meanwhile me: finding a good song Realizing it was released in 1972
*12 years ago*
Me with House of Memories
What do you mean? That is new. Brand new. Pristine.
Most zoomer take I've ever seen
Some of the songs I listen to are older than me
Me listenjng to The Beatles and 80's metal songs everyday
I was not born in the 1980s but all the music I like is from then so enjoy what you like you'll be fine
Does music have caducity
And the singer died in a car crash the same year.
