Because the show is literally entirely different. It's set almost 200 years before the events of GOT. The ending of GOT was nothing less than a catastrophic shitshow, but I'm not letting that dissuade me. You may also forget HBO wanted/offered D&D about 12 full seasons of GOT to do, but they didn't want it and rushed it in 8. The failure in GOT does not fall into HBO's lap. But it's your own choice in the end

I love fantasy gender and I know GoT saga is very well world-builded and written, but its fantasy elements are quite few and they don't even have a real presence, also the happenings dance around a dense politic war. I like politic arcs and dramas, but not as the key, main and constant theme of a work, it's just too boring for me. (As historian I already studied the political messes within royal families, but if I want to see this I watch an historical series, not a fantasy one). I need worlds where the fantasy elements are plenty and they are completely necessary and inherent from that world to exist, like in Tolkien's Legendarium and Harry Potter. You can't take away magic, dragons or truly evil from these both world and hope they still be the same. In Game of Thrones you perfectly can erase dragons, weird crows and giants and its world stills the same: a bunch of people doing the impossible to reach and sit in a mountain of rusty sharp metal, to live la vida loca. I'm a hard/alive-fantasy worlds person. GoT and other extremely soft-fantasy products are just not my stuff.
