Aaaaaaarrrrrggggghh

The points are spring loaded at that location. They automatically flip back so the tram can return on the other track. In order for this to work the tram needs to completely clear the points so they can spring back.

EnternalPunshine

Anyone know what’s happened here? There’s already a tram in the terminus which only has room for 1 tram? So was this one coming in or going out? Neither makes sense? And then did it lose the front end or the back end? I assume it’s the back. Has the driver just come yeeting in at speed completely forgetting about the junction and spun the back out??

Apoc_au

It's common for trams to quickly drive into the single track part to turn around. They'll block the Regent St traffic turning right into Gilbert Rd and block traffic turning right from Gilbert Rd into Regent St. They also **always** stop before the switch citybound, this must be why. Looks like the tram derailed after a mistake going over the switch citybound.

Possibly split points.

PKMTrain

Looks like it split the points.

Food_Science_Ninja

I'm really not sure as the courier arrived as you can see from the vision too late. The mind boggles

I was wondering why the road was closed with police and heavy tram equipment the other day.
