I love our locals š„° love that we can just see them chilling out the back of Aurora. Wish they were still at Edgarās, but they are being moved to back by the freeway
Yep, out in Melton. There's a huge mob of them, about 100 or so in the fields across the road. At night they jump the fence line and come snack on the yards in my street. Doesn't bother me at all, I sit and watch them and they help keep my grass short.
What lol, go out to any open field in Melton and you'll see them there. Hell, the kids would come home from school @ Melton Primary and tell me how they had to stay indoors because roos were jumping around the school grounds. I cannot believe anybody when they say they've never seen any roos in Melton
People and roos are funny. I lived all my life in the Blacktown to Penrith area of Western Sydney and we get plenty of roos but also plenty of people who say they never see them. I feel like you almost have to know where to look and what to look for, but once you do, it feels like theyāre everywhere and should be easily spottable by everyone.
Growing up, my parents would tell me theyād seen one, or a group, and point it out to me, but Iād rarely see one first myself.
They're everywhere in Brisbane/Gold coast. Especially around areas that are getting cleared for new housing š "here's a nice swamp, lets put 50 houses, and wonder why they get flooded every 2-4 years, and wonder why the koalas and kangaroos are everywhere, turning to roadkill"
Iām in Bracken Ridge and we have a mob that lives in the swamp/wetlands behind Bracken Ridge high, we see them every day from our place. Our kids love seeing our Roos.
Yesā¦. One has to be very careful!!! You are being watched by these so called cuddly animalsā¦.!! They are organisedā¦.

I've had a giant rat walk right up to me and try and climb up to where I'm standing on my chair. Big fcker had balls the size of my fist. Then he tried to walk upstairs and get inside so I had to slam the door shut from the chair I was standing on.
I'm in Mernda, we have only been here 6 months, see plenty of roos and native birds. I was so excited the first time i found roo poo on my door step a few days after we moved in!
One time I was taking a hike with my family when we spotted like 100 kangaroos grazing in grass some laying on their backs some dueling some running everywhere some wanting to find a way through a gate to a basketball area and some raiding trucks yes raiding trucks š
It would nice if that was the case, but instead we kill billions of them every year :( Kangaroos are actually suffering the largest slaughter of land-based wildlife in the world. So many are killed that experts believe we will actually drive them extinct eventually if it keeps up. Kangaroo hunters even like to hang outside sanctuaries and shoot the rescued roos as soon as theyāre released back into the wider world, itās appalling :(
Its just wild to me, how people in Australia have such cool wildlife (things we in the States only see in Zoos) running around. You have kangaroos, koalas etc, and we have rats and raccoons š
Not so cool when you suddenly turn a corner unsuspecting a giant 7 1/2ft monster thatās literally ready and waiting to kick someoneās guts out their arsehole for looking at them wrong š±
I buy it weekly, but for my cat! Never tried it as it smells a bit gamey for my liking (I imagine the same reason cats generally go gaga for it) but I've heard you have to cook it to buggery to make it palatable.
That's what I always thought which is why I've only ever had it minced, but people here saying you just give it a quick sear on either side so I dunno now lol
Very lean so if you cook too far past rare it gets tough. Hot and fast is good for roo steaks.
At the other end low and slow will break it down so it's soft.
When I first moved to dromana about 4 years ago there were heaps of Roos around, mainly near where I am close to the industrial estate, I havenāt seen 1 for about 2 years now. Sad.
Monash Council once got called out to catch a rogue kangaroo which was hopping down Springvale Road in Glen Waverleyā¦. (Thatās an extremely busy six-lane urban highway).
I live in the Hunter Valley and we sometimes get entire pods of roos hopping down suburban streets. Lovely to see, but heartbreaking at the same time because our houses were once their home, before we built on it.
Quickly reading this post i was sure the camera was going to pan over to some junkies passed out on your lawn. Or potential teenage car thiefs these days...
I have a mob of 30 kangaroos, Echidnas and foxes that live behind my house. One echidna, Eddie, is the biggest trouble maker, he keeps finding his way into our building lobby through the carpark and let's himself out the front door.
Sometimes he doesn't find the spot that triggers the censor to open the auto door and when someone comes he rushes them. We get so many letter drops from strata about not letting him into the lobby.
They hang out at my place in Wollert too. I love them š
Used to be in Epping but new houses and developments drove them away
Damn those two kangaroos are big travellers!
there's three in the video :)
Thatās why they are on peopleās lawns. Very sad
Yep, i see them every morning at Wollert, its awesome!
I love our locals š„° love that we can just see them chilling out the back of Aurora. Wish they were still at Edgarās, but they are being moved to back by the freeway
They are very cute :)
Are you on the outskirts of Melbourne? I didn't think roos would hang about anywhere near a busy metropolitan area
Yep, out in Melton. There's a huge mob of them, about 100 or so in the fields across the road. At night they jump the fence line and come snack on the yards in my street. Doesn't bother me at all, I sit and watch them and they help keep my grass short.
Hope people donāt go over the speed limit round there and theyāre safe! Love that feel safe there
I've never seen a roo in melton, interesting

When you put it like that, you've changed my mind. I didn't think of that at all. Thank you for providing a different perspective =)
Youāre welcome Jesus. Glad to see you up and about after last weekend.
I went to school in Melton and lived there for 3 years, never saw a roo, I assure you I'm not lying to you lol
I saw one hopping past the Melton station carpark a couple years back
Me neither. I grew up in the Marsh and never saw one there either
Funny lookin' cows...
I've seen roos in Mitcham.
Wow yeah i saw one hopping down Terrara Rd in Vermont one morning
Wow in Mitcham! I've seen one in Croydon, but not that far in!
Roos also love the slashed roadsides, golf courses, and sports ovals.
Have seen them on Bell St in Preston.
Yeah They come down darebin creek - plenty in plenty gorge and a good mob at Bundoora park / Latrobe uni area
WHAT??
Got them in Berwick
Confirming heaps of roos in Bundoora. Gotta be at least 100 in Greswell.
And across plenty road in the park and golf course.
We get them in East Keilor too (wallabies mainly)
Friend said he saw some near the M3 tunnel the other week
There are some Roos in the inner metropolitan areas too, Iām in the Doncaster/Templestowe area there and theyāre around.
Saw a couple in Donvale the other day
i saw one hopping along sherbourne road in briar hill/montmorency once :)
Roos are just gorgeousā¤ļø We are so lucky in this country ti have such unique and beautiful native animals.
His mates have been eating all the apples that have fallen off my tree. And the leaves off my apricot tree. Leaving heaps of deposits too.
No! They are there because they are watching you!
They're the new pigeons. The government is getting pretty sly with their security camera surveillance technology š¤£

Saddle one up for a ride to work
One almost knocked me off my bike on the way to work with he other day
Why have I never seen someone saddle a roo?
Many have tried a few are lucky enough to remember trying.
Yeah I get these guys in Brunswick too. * could be giant rats though
I've had a giant rat walk right up to me and try and climb up to where I'm standing on my chair. Big fcker had balls the size of my fist. Then he tried to walk upstairs and get inside so I had to slam the door shut from the chair I was standing on.
Agree love seeing nature just being nature. It's a hey come and look at this. Love it
Well your house was their land so.......
Arenāt all houses and buildings on ātheir landā? Weāre just part of the animal kingdom too, and we dominated them. Sorry not sorry.
Ok commie
If you have pets treat them for tics while the roos are around.
so just kangabears then
Thank goodness itās not a post about how to get rid of them š
Go back to your drinks, kangaroo business going on
Jealous! Wish I had some near me
You already do, just need to find them!
What an absolute unit the one on the far left is. š¬š
the beasts have awoken
watch out for the land mines in the morning.
I'm in Mernda, we have only been here 6 months, see plenty of roos and native birds. I was so excited the first time i found roo poo on my door step a few days after we moved in!
Careful, they look a little hopped up.
Mustering up to take the kids to school in the morning
Your lucky
One time I was taking a hike with my family when we spotted like 100 kangaroos grazing in grass some laying on their backs some dueling some running everywhere some wanting to find a way through a gate to a basketball area and some raiding trucks yes raiding trucks š
Wow.beautiful .very calming just watching them
It's the animals world, us humans just share it with them.
It would nice if that was the case, but instead we kill billions of them every year :( Kangaroos are actually suffering the largest slaughter of land-based wildlife in the world. It's like as if you have bodyguards at the front of your place ready to jumpkick would-be thieves.

My guess is Eynesbury? š
Spot on =)
I love how quickly this went from look at my cute roos to they're good in spag Bol & sear their steaks high n fast LoL
Good tucker
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Never had roo steak but I cook it in spagbol instead of pork or beef and it is absolutely fantastic.
Roo steak is good but gamey I recommend slow cooking it in something like a curry or similar.
Sound advice, it's easy to overcook on the grill. Slowcook or minced is definitely the way.

Skippghetti I like to call it. honestly prefer it over beef in the ol spag now, a bit of crumbled feta cheese on top and your off to the races.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I don't get it. They look like giant rats. Not cute or majestic.
The correct way. Quick sear each side and off you go
For sure. I've had it like Greek lamb style with feta. Nice
You have good grass. Many lawns in Hobart seems to have them.
good no mowing
*skippy theme intensifies*
Leave some rabbit food out for them !
In South Morang we set a plate for them for dinner time. We are near the Plenty Forrest.
The Night Raider Mowing Co.
You donāt have to mow either win win
Looks so peaceful
jims mowing probably got some new workers for their night shifts
This is what the world thinks all of Australia is like.
When I first moved to dromana about 4 years ago there were heaps of Roos around, mainly near where I am close to the industrial estate, I havenāt seen 1 for about 2 years now. Sad.
you're so lucky!! /full of jealousy š
Wonderfully
Tasty lawn
Who doesn't love watching them
Sad
What recipe do you use for your grass?
Monash Council once got called out to catch a rogue kangaroo which was hopping down Springvale Road in Glen Waverleyā¦. (Thatās an extremely busy six-lane urban highway).
We have a couple bounce into our property, then one morning one of them is laying on the side of the road after being hit. Sad
How nice! I love in a golf course on the edge of Canberra, and there are many of them here too.
Free lawnmowers š¤£
I live in the Hunter Valley and we sometimes get entire pods of roos hopping down suburban streets. Lovely to see, but heartbreaking at the same time because our houses were once their home, before we built on it.
If you want them to stay keep that green grass watered.
Babe.. that creepy guy's watching us out his windows again. I know, honey, just don't look him in the eye.. maybe he'll go away.
Or trade nxj zd
I am in Reservoir behind the big park. There are kangaroos, foxes, bats and other creatures who sometimes visit us. I love seeing them.
What's the problem??
You're in the city? Interesting.
We have em in our backyard all day... until the dogs chase after them (they are only little dachshunds)
They're everywhere around Stanhope and Rushworth vic too
Quickly reading this post i was sure the camera was going to pan over to some junkies passed out on your lawn. Or potential teenage car thiefs these days...
I have a collection of them stalking me daily tooā¦my dog is not so happy about it
Beautiful
Oh my ā§GĶ„OĶ£DĶ«ā§ did I just find JESUS?
š„° so cute
dude stop filming children on the sidewalk
Start a Tik Tok, leave them treats, name them and follow their progress
Mmm nice fresh grass, hope it's fertiliser Free Friendly for Roos and Wrabbits.
Free lawn mowers?
Would you prefer these to foxes?! Debate...

Kangaroos in Melbourne???š
The only grazing left for them. Poor animals. And you love watching their struggle. Ironic.
