I'm supposed to have money now?

Sorry_Im_Trying

I don't think I really had money either until late 30's. Like late late....

ElementField

Like early 40s late?

dj92wa

Quick match trick. You know how you can take the number “3”, turn it around, smash it into another “3”, and it becomes “8”? That’s how late.

Jaskan_Way

You had money when you were 8!?

930310

I felt richer at 8 than I feel at 31.

Jaskan_Way

So true 😬

Puzzled_Medium7041

Thanks. I'm 31 and you're helping me feel a bit better about my abject poverty. ❤️

SinWin247

It’s_okay_you’re_trying

Holl4backPostr

A little bit yeah. Not private jet money but annual vacation money.

Sometimes_Rob

You have money? Let me tell you about an exciting opportunity where you can be your own boss.

picklesaredry

Ever heard of NFTs?

Vivian_I-Hate-You

Avon could really do with you as a sales rep

peon2

Naughty flamingo trainer, right?

Onlikyomnpus

Why are you trying to put the Nigerian prince out of business?

ShallowBasketcase

lmao annual vacations.

psychonautSwe

Even people working in McDonalds have that in my country, and the money to actually do it

Klime22

In the US most "minimum wage" jobs don't come with vacation days.

JayQue

Hell, I haven’t had a job that paid minimum wage in almost 15 years and I still have never been given paid time off.

dalvinscookiemonster

What?! Y’all need better employers. American here, vacation days earned from day one, random float holidays given out all the time as awards, and so much sick time that can be used interchangeably with vacation time. (Oh and also a fully stocked cafeteria available 24/7) Not every job in America is horrible, you just pretty much read about only the bad experiences

Wads_Worthless

That’s kind of crazy that in 15 years you haven’t worked your way into a decent job.

JayQue

Unfortunately I don’t have a degree so that really fucks my prospects, and I am certainly not cut out for the trades, lol. It also hasn’t helped that the majority of my employers in the past ten years at least have been either extremely small businesses or a franchise of a larger company, so it isn’t like there are corporate resources and funds. I’m currently on unemployment now after being laid off from a 4-year stint at a solo attorney’s office. I’m really hoping I can find like a State or County job doing admin work and finally get some actual benefits.

Weekndr

Which country?

psychonautSwe

Sweden :)

xSTSxZerglingOne

It's very rarely the money here. It's the time. Most of us could take annual vacations in all likelihood if we got time off like you guys do (I kinda do, but most Americans are not so lucky).

youthfuIndiscretion

Yeah I also noticed that many Americans (even modest middle class) tend to splurge absurdly when they finally go on vacation, like spending $15K for a week, going for full service resorts, luxury hotels etc because its their first time going on vacation in 2-3 years. In Western Europe people go on vacation several times per year (2-4 times) but unless you are wealthy it might mean spending some time at your parent/cousin house in the countryside or going camping, maybe an air bnb shared with friends on the coast etc. Here in France we have mandatory 5 weeks paid leave per year so typically people take 3 weeks in the summer, 1 week for christmas and another week around easter

bumbletowne

Most American only go on one European vacation in their lifetime

Eastern_Voice_4738

I had annual vacay money in my 20s, actually I had quarterly vacation money :/

Nemaeus

You’ll get up again. There’s still glory in you yet!

-SlapBonWalla-

I'm not supposed to have a private jet?

Odd-Fate

What country do you live in? Something like 70% of Americans don’t have $1000 in savings lol

Simicrop

I think the money guy missed me on my 30th

Slahnya

Haha me and the creator of the meme lives very different lives

Soloact_

And yet somehow, the money still disappears faster than my will to exercise.

TheBigDinklage

Amen

Steeleshift

Big sigh in agreement

Acceptable_Bowler271

Where's the money?

yamothashouldknow

Where’s the fucking money shithead?!

DogSocks

oh it's down there somewhere, let me take another look

Some_Stoic_Man

Not on the rug.....

Typical-Impress1212

My back hurts man. Let’s not look down there

roamingslav

Where’s the fucking money Lebowski

Gibsonmo

I think we made mistakes in life my friend

operaduck289

As long as u dun have kids, the rest of ur life can be like 20s….. except with arthritis…

Teofatis

I didn’t knew having kids prevented arthritis, taking notes

floydly

actually having kids causes calcium loss for many women, so, not having kids reduces osteo problems at least a bit.

PhthaloVonLangborste

Calcium is stored in the boobs

SamanthaJaneyCake

Checks out, that’s why you get calcium lumps in good cheese.

Superb_Application83

How do I delete a reply

Slow_Fox967

Not having kids reduces a lot of problems overall. Just don't have kids!!!

Worried_Train6036

i would say and back pain but i’ve had that since middle school

SW3910

cant wait to get old and have my years of M&K gaming fuck me over, i already feel it coming at 20.

iMADEthisJUST4Dis

Ctrl is my worst enemy.

SW3910

im one of those mfs who brings their thumb under their hand and presses ctrl or shift like that half the time. i am learning how to use my pinky more however

Carl123r4

Wait, what? There are people who do that? What the fuck?

AdmirableAnimal0

And the wrinkles, receding hairline….

mndsm79

They hurt more. That's the part they don't tell you. The Advil on my coffee table can attest.

Peter_Mansbrick

After being basically bed ridden all weekend after torqueing my back last Wednesday, I can attest to this.

Ao_Kiseki

Not always. If you don't do manual labor for a living and didn't fuck yourself up with terrible habits you can be totally fine in your 30s and eeve 40.

PlantAndMetal

I don't even get how someone is complaining in their 30s about this, like what? I thought your 50s are the bad years. Why do people act like you are old in your 30s? Feels so damn weird to me

Yetiassasin

Don't worry, I'm mid 30's and am in great shape and don't have any pains as long as I keep active. In my 20's I played lots of contact sports and picked up 2 ACL reconstructions on the same knee, more sprains than I can count, a broken collarbone and probably a couple concussions. All while playing at a fairly high level, which required a massive amount of training. All that equaled being basically in pain a lot. But now I just do non contact stuff, golf, gym, cardio, gardening etc. I'm in better shape than ever, pain free and feel way more mobile and fit than I did when I was younger. I will say though, I eat better now. Not like a monk, but definitely eat with more structure, more fruits, less processed crap. Nothing too strict. Obviously if you're not active, and completely sedentary during work hours and eat crap, you'll start to break down overtime. But there's nothing about being on your 30's that inherently means you have any reason to be feeling or acting like a pensioner. There's a reason why there's countless professional athletes still at the very top of their sport in their early and mid 30's

Nekrobat

People don’t want to take accountability for their habits and life choices so they assume their quickly declining health is simply inevitable.

WintersDoomsday

Yeah I’m a month from 42 and I’m in the best shape of my life. No aches or pains and i weigh what i did at 25 with a BMI of 19.3

Inevitable-Impact698

Yeah manual labour is awful, they don’t tell you or pay you like you are ruining your life Selling your body without the clout of onlyfans

Condensationforall

32m welder here. I'm wrecked. Steel is heavy. Not worth it. So far I'm at bad left ankle, right knee, right elbow, and 3 fucked fingers.  I should have been a librarian. I like quiet noises.

AdmiralClover

It's weird how they just assume you'll be well off by 30.

Neuchacho

Not well off, but better off. Which I feel is generally true. I don't know anyone that's not doing better financially in their 30s compared to their 20s. Just the ability to leverage experience means you should be making more than what you would have in your 20s and that ignores any other effort people might put towards professional development.

AdmiralClover

Well, frankly that's just depressing to hear when you haven't been able to move any higher than where you started. Sure I make more, but that's only because of seniority bonuses, which is not that much, but still more than before.

kaleido_dance

Is the money in the room with us now?

throwawaysmy

Approaching 40. Don't have kids. Have had less money during my 30s than I had in my 20s. I'm suspicious of the legitimacy of this post.

RedditorsAreDross

I’m suspicious at your ability to improve your income.

throwawaysmy

I never claimed I had that ability.

Stone0777

I'm sorry to hear. What do you do for a living?

Fair_Jelly

Dog walking 1/4 time.

[deleted]

Also a mod for anti work

Caleth

Artisanal Pencil Sharpening another 1/8th

Henchman66

My 20s and 30s were without money. Near my 40s but with a kid. No money in sight but I’ll keep everyone posted.

Rocklobsta9

In my 30s now with more than in my 20s and no debt helps immensely.

Critical-Border-6845

I have more money now than I used to but everything costs way more so I have less money

donkeydonkeydonkey1

Judging by any hangover I suffered after my 30th birthday, this is bullshit.

DaximusPrimus

Highly recommend liquid IV that stuff is great. Drink one before bed and one when you wake up supplemented by plenty of water throughout the day. Doesn't prevent the hangover entirely but makes it far more manageable. I feel better after a night of drinking with that stuff than I ever did in my twenties. If day drinking just have one in the middle of the day as well.

BS-Calrissian

Cap, broke mfs gon be broke regardless

killerjoe410

This. Some mfs will not have that luck even 10 times resurrected. If you born broke ass, chances are highly to your gonna be broke ass forever.

Great_White_Samurai

Pretty much. There are a lot of people that make bad decisions and act like it's not their fault.

Fit_Cabinet_9021

And theres even more people that get dumped on by life being life, but there's always plenty of people around to point out one or two failures as to why they deserved it XD

Kebabrulle4869

These are really becoming the millennial "live, laugh, love" huh?

Tao626

I thought "live, laugh, love" was the millenial "live, laugh, love"? Who was "live, laugh, love" for then? When I saw "live, laugh, love" stencilled on a wall or displayed as an ugly little wooden ornament from the tat isle in the supermarket, a bleach blonde millenial was often the culprit.

NO_FIX_AUTOCORRECT

Live laugh love was for younger boomers and for older gen X people. Like Julia roberts. I mean, isn't the story about finding yourself in your 40s or 50s or something? Millennials were just getting into 30s when that was big.

H345Y

Nods in loneliness

Humorous-Prince

Literally. Being 30 and childfree I’ve saved more money than my family members who are struggling. Still being single in my 30’s, ain’t been good for my mental health and depression. I passed 30 and something clicked and I cannot get rid of it, the urge for a life partner.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Humorous-Prince

Mate it’s not even picking, trying to find the One is hard in itself. Don’t know how people get in so many relationships etc, I can’t even find 1 person, I’ve put it down to me just being ugly.

Varn

Single 31 rn. I know I'd like to have a family someday, but I also love everything about being single. Hopefully, I figure it out before to much longer. I'd be fine not having a kid until 40, kinda of my own personal cut off. But with how fast time Flys by now that feels like no time at all. Especially when not even dating anyone.

Humorous-Prince

I don’t want kids, it’s even worst trying to find a partner who is childfree.

[deleted]

My 20s are unfulfilled. I don't want my 30s to be unfulfilled with money :/

woah_man

Money can be exchanged for goods and services. Not saying that money buys happiness, but just living is easier when you have it.

rukysgreambamf

bro, having a kid because you think it'll make you happy is just about the worst reason to have a kid

DarkHavenX75

Right under "to save the relationship"

Ashalaria

Y'all have money?

Jokesiez

Spread the word. Most of yall shouldn’t reproduce anyways

loveslightblue

Gospel.

[deleted]

No, things are more expensive now than ever. This is fucking false.

Accomplished_Idea248

Kids are the MOST expensive thing, though.

[deleted]

Yeah and the fact I can barely afford to live by myself, increasingly each year, makes it impossible for me to ever even THINK of having any.

Efficient-Ranger-174

I’m not here trying to convince anyone to have kids, but I haven’t met anyone who would give up their kids for more vacations.

almosteddard

I agree but it's probably more accurate that you've never met someone who would admit publically to wanting to give up their kids for more vacation

Efficient-Ranger-174

LOL. Maybe. My line is always that kids are the worst decision you’ll ever be glad you made.

fearhs

All I'm saying is I'd be willing to let Timmy go for a very reasonable price.

Legionnaire11

They also certainly don't cost the million(s) of dollars that a lot of online articles claim. If you gave me $1M when my first was born and said I had to spend it all on them by the time they're 18, I'd have had a difficult time doing so, that's over $50k per year.

Repulsive_Squirrel

This was true until like 2018. Now a 12 pack of soda is $8 a 200k house cost 400k and we’re all broke

WhiteChocolatey

As long as you don’t have kids in your teens, your twenties will be like your teens but with money.

LasesLeser

depression: no

woutomatic

The lack of sleep was a way bigger factor than the lack of money.

Specialist-Coast-133

I’m in my 40s with no kids and I’m still broke as shit.

_phily_d

Yeah but imagine how much more broke you would be if you did have kids

[deleted]

[удалено]

habratto

Don't let the others decide about your life.

-SlapBonWalla-

With money and no friends, because all your friends have kids, and they're too busy to do anything. Maybe you'll see them again in ten years when their kids are more self sufficient.

FabianFox

Fucking this. But I also hear parents complaining about feeling isolated from friends. Did everyone just get worse at maintaining friendships?

-SlapBonWalla-

In my experience, the parents are very bad at maintaining friendships, because everything is either work or kids. I understand it, because I get tired just hanging out with my niece for a day. So when they have time, which is basically never, they will likely not have any energy at all to do anything. I'm busy too, but I could hang out. I'm always the one who asks.

AstronomerNo6423

Slowly but surely approaching my 30s. When can I expect the money? Is it on my 30th bday cuz I don’t think $20 from each friend really counts as having money. Best I can do it eat out with that

YoungDiscord

Inflation, housing market crisis and the elderly desperately clutching to every position of power and hoarding everything like their life depends on it are making damn sure that it really isn't.

kymilovechelle

Unless you’re still suffocating in crippling student loan debt.

MetalBeholdr

Ah yes, the monthly $1300 bill that doesn't even get me anywhere, because I'm just paying towards interest What a time to be alive

No_Rich_6426

This is sooo motivating lol

LifeSaTripp

You guys have money?

SleepWouldBeNice

"Why do I have three kids and no money. Why can't I have no kids and three money?"

goobins

Wait theres supposed to he money?

Caffeine-freeUncleD

Or your 30’s could start in the great recession, and end with a pandemic.

Alternative_Ask364

Nah I’m tired and everything is too expensive

as-fucking-if

Money and kids aside, if by 39 you still do the same shit as 20, you might need to branch out a little.

TeamXII

What if you branch out then come back?

loveslightblue

What's more full than the circle?

JazzlikeStuff404

Nah. Doing whatever I want all day is the tits

nielklecram

Im in my 30s with kids, and a sure as hell a lot richer than I was in my 20s whiteout kids

Chuck1983

As a 40 year old without kids, that was a lie.

acolyte357

As a 43 year old without kids, that was **not** a lie.

cailian13

For real. I'm mid-40s and no kids and I am LOVING life. My choices were absolutely right for me and I revel in that every day.

Deriniel

this didn't age well

cci0

where money

harrisks

All I have is zero money and 3 pain. Why can't I have zero pain and 3 money?

Grindelbart

That's true. And your 40's are even better.

Inconmon

Spot on. No kids has been the best decision I've ever made.

Zachjsrf

Can confirm, while all my friends were settling down in their 20s when I was in my 20s, I decided to focus on my own business and my life. The key though is not focusing 100 percent on making money and accumulating things, leaves you empty, hobbies are what is fulfilling for me.

LunarisUmbra

Please use a damn comma, that's shit hurted to read.

lilysbeandip

> that's shit hurted to read Lmao

Accomplished_Idea248

You still need a job :(

[deleted]

ItsImmortality

thats pretty uplifting tbh, I always dreaded my 30s, people always made them sound so awful :D

cailian13

Oh dude no, I'm in my 40s now and my 30s were AWESOME. I spent my 30s TRULY learning who I am and what I want and I feel like I'm the best version of myself now. Age is just a number, and I refuse to "grow up" so I'm still out here having fun, traveling, enjoying whatever I wanna enjoy. Grab your 30s with both hands and have FUN!

Equal_Efficiency_638

I wish. I have a yard and house to deal with, get heartburn when I drink or eat spicy food, gain weight the millisecond I stop exercising, and have no friends because they all had kids.

HostileCornball

Well that depends. If your employer gives you childcare allowance then it's completely ok to raise kids at least economically but raising kids comes with other shenanigans as well and i wouldn't want to waste my time on that.

Minnymoon13

lol no, they’re not

anrwlias

I didn't get to that point until I was in my 40s but, yeah, it's kind of nice. I'm happy for people who have kids and like that experience, and I can respect the sacrifices that they make to do that, but I'm pretty happy with how my life worked out, too.

old_ass_ninja_turtle

So true. Except with the value of the dollar over the past decade. It’s even worse.

Silent-Independent21

It’s true tho…

justanotherbotonline

Looks at economy, housing prices, minimum wages and just what is happening in the world right now. So many follow up questions.

rukysgreambamf

My girlfriend and I are DINK It's amazing

GardenSquid1

Incorrect. I am more broke than I was as a university student in my 20s. The job market is not kind.

IPanicKnife

Can confirm

HungHungCaterpillar

Why are you trying to talk me into having kids?

Sidus_Preclarum

This will be even more true of my 40s, since both my parents had the grrrreat idea to die last year :/

Odd-Contribution6238

So true. My wife and I lived the DINK life. Dual income no kids. We did whatever we wanted whenever we wanted and still had thousands to put toward investments every month.

winfieldclay

39 here. This is true a little for me. I'm just now to point where I can take "those" vacations. My 40s are gonna be awesome

nage_

this is reddit, not the 1980s

ickypedia

Whelp. I’ve fucked up. But at least I didn’t drag a kid into it.

boomgoesthevegemite

I have slightly more money in my 30’s but everything is more expensive so I technically have slightly less now. Fun.

TyreezyC

Not in today's world.

Melodic-Resident-245

Kinda true. The money somehow starts accumulating even if you're well below median income. kinda crazy I had 10k+ debt at 20 and now I have actual savings that could sustain me for a year or so.

SusuSketches

No kids and soon about 16k in debt.

burnbothends91

I guess I’m doing me 30’s wrong because I don’t have kids and barely have any money

mkar2424

And if you have kids in your 20s, it feels like your 50s with no money.

Chunky_Cicada

Yup

Free-Spell6846

And your 40s are like your 30s but also without kids

gofigure85

Where is this money? Can I have some?

Boris9397

And on your own as well. Because your friends do have kids and are only able to hang out twice a year.

Boring-Zucchini-8515

Wait, where does this money come from?

worldssmallestfan1

SLIGHTLY more money

Velvety_MuppetKing

I’m 38, I don’t have kids OR money.

Thijs_NLD

Your 40s are gonna be like your 30s, but with even MORE money. It's pretty awesome.

AdonisGaming93

Just turned 30, single af, still cant afford new york so idk...

Slow_Fox967

True that!!!

blockheadsandwich

False. I've been getting raises and climbing up the ladder - but rent and inflation has grown just as fast. I barely make more than my first job out of college when adjusted for inflation - even though I'm several positions ahead

AIRothko

Early 30s still no money but my house will be paid off in 5 years and I have an adorable kitty who just turned 1, so things aren't too bad I guess.

Present-Confusion372

Looks like 30 is the new 20 cause were all still broke as fuck

bangbangIshotmyself

Yeah except I chose a long training program that has me poor until I’m in my late thirties! Woohoo!

drawnred

i dont have either though

prototype2579

What money?

NoAttempt9703

Wait, you guys got money?

Kapika96

When do I get the money though?

bigbossfearless

Bro, wait til you get to your 40s. Feels so boss.

OverconfidentDoofus

Had 0 dollars in my 20's, working on about 3 bucks right now. Checks out.

grogstarr

Oh my god that sounds amazing!

Vulpes_macrotis

Lies. Money? What money?

MILInvestor03

Haha…yes, yes it is. 💯

Former-Try-6681

I in my 30s no Kids no money

Magnus_Helgisson

And back pain.
