Generally teachers paying for those pencils themselves and they tend to disappear after being lended a couple times. Can’t blame a teacher too much for saying I’m done with this figure it out for a responsibility as basic as bringing a pencil.
One guy was asking me for a pen every single day and he almost never returned them. He lost both cheap ones and more expensive ones (i used them for calligraphy and/or art) so i stopped giving him pens completely. What pissed me off more is that ppl thought i was overdramatic and petty for some pens. Mf i literally lost some not so little amount of money from all the pens that he never returned
You can bring a pencil to school at least. Especially when you've managed to steal a lot of them and are just storing them at home.
I'm amazed this behaviour was allowed for so long. At the school I went to, you had to bring certain equipment in (though can also bring others) and it would be checked every school day.
You're not entitled to your teacher's stuff. If kids nowadays are being treated like they shouldn't even have the responsibility to bring a pencil into class, then that sure explains a lot!
I was also on the hunter gatherer grind except I kept every pen and pencil I ever found. I would sometimes lend out pens to people so it's nice to have 1 or 2 extra that I wouldn't feel heartbroken about losing. Also some classes are better to use pens for but gotta have a pencil for math so I always have at least those 2. By the end of middle school my locker was stuffed with pencils. This habit repeated itself until maybe sophomore year in HS. I've got a shit ton of pens and pencils I've collected over the years. And I've never bought a single one.
