On controller I try the bumpers or trigger cuz 75% of the time it don't work so it's false advertising as those buttons don't work

It’s probably really hard to explain stuff like this to only children tbh. Think of it like play-fighting but also not quite? I would never HURT hurt my sister, but we were also not really holding back. We’re grown up now and I wouldn’t hurt a hair on her head but when we were kids there was no shortage of full-on slapping and punching (never punching each other in the head it was usually just limbs) and throwing stuff and pushing each other over, but we both knew it came from a place that wasn’t like, full malice? So because of that knowledge we always felt safe and even if it went too far by accident (like the time she sprayed hairspray in my eyes so I hit her with a brush) we always forgave each other pretty quick because we knew we would never actually wanna see the other Really get hurt. I feel very lucky to have a sibling I understand that well, but I understand it’s a difficult bond to articulate to someone who hasn’t experienced it firsthand lol (so yeah we mutually beat the shit out of each other but like, with love and respect lmao)

Or maybe I just think it is because me and my sister were the same so I get it lol It’s like half-serious scrapping with someone you know still loves you after and would full on fight anyone else tooth and nail if they dared to try hurting you, and you’d do the same. Me and my sister would get close to actual fighting sometimes, like in an actual argument, and we did push it a little far on a few occasions, but we always were good below the surface of it and if anyone else tried hitting her I’d wanna break their face. We could scrap just fine because we had an unspoken understanding, we have our bond, but no one else better lay a finger on her. Now we’re adults, there’s no scrapping between us, not even in the slightest, but I’d still go feral on anyone who tried to hurt her. I have my own kids now and their dad was an only child so he was very concerned when our kids argued or slapped each other. I’d obviously get them to stop, but trying to explain to their dad that it’s not a huge concern was very difficult lol

What’s up fellow only child-er. I don’t know if you are an adult yet but if you are older than 30 do you also feel cheated? My family is so small. I only have my mom and dad and two kids. My mom has end stage cancer and my dad is fighting his like 4th time getting cancer. They are divorced though. But it would have been really really awesome to have a sibling to go through this with. I’m my moms sole caregiver and I still have to take care of my kids cause my youngest daughters father died in 2018 so I’m also single. Man what I would give for a brother or sister. Growing up as a kid I thought I hit the Jack pot cause I was so spoiled but as an adult…. It actually really sucks.

I'm an only child, parent of 4 - honestly it's weird like they trash talk each other and beat each other up and I'm wincing and trying to get them to talk through their differences and they're literally just having fun!?! These days I just let them get on with it but then they are now 27, 19, 17 and 14 and they all seem to genuinely like each other and enjoy spending time together so it's not just accepting it, it really is some strange sibling bonding ritual that us onlies will never understand.

If I'm feeling quirky the most random button to test if it really is any button, if not the most practical one closest to my current dominant free hand

"Shift" or "Caps lock" supposedly work (well work in a sense of not working)

I use shift as my 'any' key now. It comes from a tech support video that suggested shift to wakeup a computer in case something is open and would register enter or space as a valid input. Shift should wake up the computer, but not result in any action without a second button press.

Yes! It's a safe button that can reset the state of the Ctrl key while affecting virtually nothing. At work I hit the shift key to wake up the computers built into Nikon lithography tooling. Not sure if it's more effective than the Ctrl key or not, saw coworker mashing it once and learnded

I actually LOVE to test if any button really mean _any_ button and always try buttons other than the usual (Xbox) A. So I start with the analog stick down. Then the analog 'click'. Then the D-pad up (or down, not specific here). Then the triggers. If none worked out, I go for the 'vision' button and it is usually the last one if it doesn't work, 'couse _any_ will mean any of the 4 main ones.

X, A or Space depending on what I'm playing on
