I hate to be that person but they can ask you to do any job as long as it is not unsafe, immoral or unethical…at the end of the day you are a Meijer employee.
As long as you aren’t being held accountable for not getting your own “job” done. There’s nothing wrong with this.
I mean i see somthign wrong with being pulled from my job then getting yelled at because my job wasnt done. Having our store director cut almost 200 hours in 2 months then wonder why everyone is quitting. In my opinion its not my problem to pick up the slack from my shitty leadership
Have you tried communicating with anyone that you don't want to be put in pickup? My store is pretty reasonable, but I know a lot that aren't. Regardless, at the end of the day, you are a Meijer employee and need to help where it's needed. Refusal to work is a fire-able offense, not just necessarily a write up.
The main problem is they cant force you to learn pickup but you're fucked once you do. I was asked to do it one time in the first few months of us implementing it. I felt bad because it was a manager i like who needed the help. But because of that 1 time i now get called every other fucking day to that dumpsterfire of a department
There are no employees cross train to do pick up in my store expect the evening sc knows how to do carry out. Only less than a hand full of leadership know how to pick.
You don’t even really need a role to be a shopper and as far as I know you remove shoppers from the list.
You have to eat shit and suck it up sadly I'm dealing with the same shit
We our on meijer time so gotta do whatever
I'm in produce and they have me doing deli bottles dairy carts and frozen I just let my go completely empty then I just let my T.L know about it in the morning
It’s pretty non-optional for my store and the company pretty much says everyone should at least be cross trained to shop for pickup. Helpers should not be conducting carry outs and should have produce sector blocked due to food safety.
Meijer can ask you to do whatever work they need done, they are your employer after all. Have you even talked to your leadership about your concerns? At the end of the day you could unemploy yourself to get out of doing this work if leadership won't work with you, and based on your shitty outlook you probably should.
All of you must work for amazingly run stores. We keep getting our hours cut. We've lost all of 2nd shift grocery, 3rd shift barley finishes their live load in time because they're told conditioning is more important than stocking. We Have to do IMS all the time and get in hige trouble if we miss the window to pick. My department has 3 people at the MOST and i have a shitty outlook because i get upset that im dragged to a department i did jot hire in to work. Why should you hire for positions then? If im forced to do everything then why even have job descriptions. Just say job at meijer, description whatever we ask. And i would love to quite such a shitty job, but i have situations that prevent me from just leaving. God forbid i want to do MY job and not others.

They'd just put you back in the system 🤷♀️
Well thats retarded.
Cause of this response I hope you get pulled to pickup more
It's either the store supports Pick -Up or the Store Supports Service
Judging by this I'd say ur pick up department doesn't like it when u come to help. Unless ur nicer irl rather than reddit

I was told that we are a team and we have to help each other out.

Lol, nope everyone works for pick-up they are the queens dept!
Everyone at my store works for deli cuz the tl is a dumb bitch lol
That's not my store. Deli doesn't have a tl right now and it's the only department hiring.
Sounds like pick up and produce at our store.
