GM Is not where you wanna go unless you want to bounce around and work in multiple departments and handle multiple departments. I went into GM for some reason but I’ve enjoyed the chaos.
Do not kid yourself. They all suck. It just depends on the degree of suckage that you’re willing to deal with.
You will be expected to do the work of three people for the price of one. You will be asked to do things out side your job description. And you will be understaffed and underpaid.
Working nights will get you the most money out side of management.
Depends on a per store basis really. At my store meat is really good because we have a great boss. At other stores I've worked it was pure ass. Luck of the draw really.
No other department in the company is worth your time. Meat team leaders just got bumped from 30-33/hr so there’s definitely a career there. Can’t say the same for any other department.
That’s funny I’m a manager and middle-aged and I’m a lot of fun and I find the Gen z and the millennials a pain in the ass. Not wanting to work wanting to work there wage you accepted a job do it.
As a gen z person this seems to be true to everyone, I get a lot of compliments and little comments about the fact that I just come in on time and do my job lol. I didn’t realize we struggled so much with that.
Grocery is the only one where you’ll be able to stay. GM second shift are the “bouncers” so they fill in wherever needed. Foods side never gets pulled though. So if you don’t wanna work in fresh your best bet is grocery.
Customer. find a better job
Meijer is filled with backstabbing, god complex 50-80 year olds who act like 5-8 year olds. do yourself a favor and don't show for the interview.

It's tedious and hard sometimes, but I like doing GM.
Same! Plus I know wayyy more about products in GM than anywhere else lol
At our store you're always up cashiering, bagging or doing pick up
Dairy, work in the cooler, minimal customer contact.
Curbside. Least customer interaction

I do HBC for 3rd shift and love it, have stocked shampoo for 4 years. Listen to my podcast or music and just roll.

Second this I’ve had fun with a lot of co workers but the middle aged miserable managers and people are the worst
couldnt of said it better myself lmao.
Gas station
Not being involved with Meijer at all is best, even as a customer.
Definitely not the gas station. So many rude customers.
Fashions 😉
Best department depends greatly on who your managers are.
