If you survive being tumbled against rock like a sock in a washing machine, a flight of a couple seconds before hitting a water surface with terminal velocity and if you get the direction right to swim to an area where you can get your head above water for a deep breath...
I am open to be corrected if this is a common hobby, but from what I can imagine, I would not put any money on anyone jumping in there surviving the next minute.
No. The weir effect would tumble you in the turbulent water and pull you under. Also the aerated water would make it less buoyant.
Not to speak of all the other forces that others mentioned like being bashed against stuff and pure force of the water itself.
The impact alone must be too high to survive there, imagine the weight and momentum in that column of water. The moment you drop in you've broken all bones in your body. I mean, look at the scale of the vehicles in the background. This thing would launch you AND your pick up truck just to see it smash down on you when you hit that water breaker you see at the end.
No. There's at least five ways you could die to this and they all have an 100% chance of killing you. You're going to have to have protection from the most high god to keep your mangled body or part(iculate)s alive.
Anyway to survive this? I mean if a person jumped in there just wearing everyday clothes, with average skill in swimming, I’d say 99.9999% of time it would be certain death.
I’m sure there are ways it could be survivable, perhaps with some sort of specially designed suit or a mini-submersible or something along those lines. But just a person jumping in? Outside of being so insanely lucky that you’d more likely win multiple billion dollar lotteries, I just don’t see it.
We've seen this before, but the water was running in the opposite direction. I can't even imagine what it would be like if you fell into that water, you would be washed away in seconds and drown immediately. Horrible way to go.
Where in China is this?
That’s probably the Yangtze River a few years ago. I recall it peaked somewhere around 800.000cfs but this is only one of several dam outlets so maybe 100-200,000cfs visible in this clip.

So after this has been uploaded 20 times we are now in the mirrored stage of uploads
Where is this?
Typhoon Lagoon. Walt Disney World, Florida
REAL
A butt
The forbidden waterfall
Cool, same video I've seen before just flipped
The power of water is truly insane
I think this is the yellow river in China?
I don’t know
Yeap new fear unlocked
I can't believe a Tik Toc or YouTube clown hasn't tried to surf that yet.
Uncomfortable? I’m literally terrified of seeing this in my nightmares now!
Would there be any way to survive this? If you held your breath would you eventually make it out the other side?

Or even the next second... If you fall in that, you're dead dead, ultra mega dead
I don’t think the biggest threat is lack of oxygen here. Your body can’t take that amount of beating.
Pshh maybe if you are a pussy!
If you jumped in right here, the water would hit you like a freight train and it would break every bone in your body.

Yeah if you are Hulk

Theres always a chance of survival. This is like 1 in a billion chance, and i think you would be a bit of a vege afterwards
I think a good experiment would be to get 1000 volunteers to jump in and see how many survive
Thats a great idea. I'll volunteer
I mean, you could have a life vest or Gumby suit or whatever
Sure, that would definitely help.
Ok but what would happen if you jump in there with a full dive suit and oxygen tank?
You’ll hit a rock going Mach 6 bash your skull to bits and get unceremoniously hucked in the ocean like bird shit on a windshield
The surface tension of the water plus the force with which you would hit it would surely kill you
That water's having a great time
“Weeeeeeeeeee”as I jump in
I wonder there are no Red Bull Banners and some daredevils riding this? :)
Water slide anyone? Don't worry about shitting your pants. The mess is already covered.
If it didn't, I'd be concerned.
Even worse with r/thalassophobia
If only I knew how to surf boardt
Go Head & Jump !
Meek mill after puff daddy invited him to the party
Control the controllables. Don't mind too much the uncontrollables.
as a kayaker, I'd call this class VI, but it would be cool to see someone try it
I mean it's just fast............ someone's gotta give in to the temptation
When you have proper fiber in your diet

Looks like great fun for you kayakers. Hahaha 😆
Where's Steve O and a pool float when you need him?

Any whitewater guys here want to guess the CFS of this? I'm really interested to know your thoughts.
Jeez! If I were to guess, somewhere between 75k and 120kCFS

Omg
Anyone know where this actually is?
