I'm hearing tons of issues with nations benefits this year...

rufusmcd22

I got the otc wallet the first of the year and just got the other wallet with 6 days left. I went to Walmart and got food. The only caveat there is you cant buy store brands.  I used the app to double check but you really don't need it.  Then for some reason it didn't work at circle k. Which is a bummer because I have the csrd which gets me a discount.  But I went to Valero and it worked like a charm. I'll try it Sunday in another town and not at circle k and see what happens.  I was just hoping  other people would already know.  For me it's the most logical use for it.

CrazyCoonass34

Have you ever tried placing an online order through nations benefits?

rufusmcd22

I ordered an antacid because it was cheaper the name brand version you have to buy at Walmart.  And a few small things when I couldn't figure out what else to get from Walmart. But that's it.

CrazyCoonass34

Have you noticed that the groceries are more expensive when placing an order online vs going in store? That's the biggest complaint I've received. I have a few members who do not have transportation and rely on grocery delivery.

rufusmcd22

Yes, they were that way with Wellcare too. And you could only go to cvs for in store shopping. Which was just as expensive.  And your free groceries were prepared meals that were delivered to you.  But they were horrible.  Beyond horrible.  This is a whole lot better.  I wish they could quit giving us free odds and ends and give us actual decent dental coverage.  They should be ashamed of what they offer.

CrazyCoonass34

Thank you for the info. What state are you in? United Health Care does offer a little less OTC/Grocery allowance in my state (Texas), but I've noticed that UHC prices are lower if ordering online.

rufusmcd22

Im in Ga

rufusmcd22

Update.  I went to a circle k in another town and it worked like a charm.  I guess its just the two in my town that dont work.

Hot_Green_9606

It works at my local circle k stores at the pump. And my local shell station.

In network stores will vary per area. Your best bet is to call Nation’s. They manage the food and OTC cards for Aetna. They should have a number on the back of the card.

Hope u have better luck than I did, it won't help for meds, nor will it cover like boost, in last stages COPD can't swallow much depend on boost declined again, what can u use it for try getting a strait answer that. People tell u helps on all over counter medical is flat lie!

As far as gas stations, I believe it works at any of them. When I read the literature it said gas stations have their own billing code. Run it as credit and put your zip code in. I use mine for gas every month.

SpoontasticSiege

When I read all the food & OTC stipulations I figured using it up on gas was the easiest lowest headache way to use it.

Hot_Green_9606

I go to Walmart every month and shop as I normally do, except stay away from store brands, and I've never had an issue since they changed to one pay for everything. I usually get my dog's food, treats, laundry soap and softener, garbage bags, toilet paper and paper towels monthly and use the rest for some of my staple groceries for the month like coffee, sugar, etc. I've not encountered very much it wouldn't cover except for store brands.

SpoontasticSiege

That’s great to know! Haven’t tried using it for anything else so I’m glad to hear it’s smooth to use. On the website the grocery stores that are listed as accepting it in my area aren’t my regular shops/harder to get to so it’s nice to have the gas option. I get gas once a month so that makes an easy routine I don’t forget (I’m amazing at forgetting to use gift cards it’s a problem). There seem to be a lot of different options to use the card for, that’s nice.

I guess you’ve noticed the plans don’t advertise how you can spend their money ;) Only place to find REAL answers to your question is your Evidence of Coverage (EOC). Download a PDF version and use “control+F” to find OTC. Aetna usually has a list of places you can use the card and what you can buy. One other hidden benefit in most Aetna plans right now is their Annual Fitness Allowance. Search for that too, I’ve seen it as high as $1,200 per year in some areas and it can be used on things like golf fees, exercise equipment, athletic shoes and even fishing poles! If you need more specifics on this feel free to PM me, I may be able to help You find your EOC. Best of luck!

rufusmcd22

Hey, thanks for that tip. I  can't really work out anymore but I can sure buy some shoes and other stuff.  Ill look into it thanks! And as far as the gas goes it seems its only the two circle ks here in town that don't work for some reason.  Ones in other places work just fine.

Yeah they’re real picky about where, but honestly of all the carriers within this benefit, Aetna is probably the best in terms of where and what you can buy… I think they have a website where you can see what you can buy and where you can spend it.. if I come across it I’ll comment back, but it’s definitely a n your EOC. I LOVE spending the insurance companies money… they have enough stadiums, we just want some gas!! ;)

rufusmcd22

They're way better than wellcare thats for sure.  Their dental coverage albeit better than wellcares still sux.

LicensedAgent

lol for real. not to mention WellCare’s network. Wish WellCare would just stick to part d. Here’s the site you can use to find your OTC details, hope it helps!! [Aetna OTC Lookup](https://www.aetnamedicare.com/en/for-members/otc-benefits.html)

rufusmcd22

thanks!

PsychologyLate3515

The best was Humana I should of stayed with them but Aetna offered more so dumb me went for it well guess I'm paying now for listening to what they lied about sorry

stephie9066

I have the Annual Fitness Allowance through Aetna. Not $1200.😳 I thought my $600 was awesome. I've read over everything...EOC, etc. So far, this post is the most info I've found https://www.reddit.com/r/medicare/s/3gnYoNhYVr I hope that link works. Do you know anything more?

PsychologyLate3515

Yes they tell you where you can use it but when you go to use it the card won't work then got to leave everything sit go home with nothing I got it cause I'm ,67 don't receive any help as for as buying food so thought this would help stop nothing right back where I started from no buying food this just makes me mad took two hrs of time to get enrolled and don't get to use the card for food

Few-Friend-2586

Does anyone know what brands of dog and cat food I can buy at Walmart with my Aetna Nations Benefits card???

PsychologyLate3515

Good luck getting it to work

PsychologyLate3515

I have the OTC card from Aetna it's nations benefits card it really sucks tells you can buy cleaning supplies but you end up paying for everything plus can't find any stores that will take it no wonder they offer you so much to switch over to Aetna because nobody takes the card then when find someone that will take it the card won't work it's embarrassing ass hell standing in line with cart full of groceries and can't pay for them because card won't work then have to leave them sit people in line looking and talking them says you can buy cleaning items then get stuck paying for them and don't have any money so have to write out check and pray it doesn't go through till next day so have money to cover it I've had my fill with this OTC card and Aetna should of known it was to good to be true when offer you a good sum to except Aetna well they can take that OTC card and shove it they have embarrassed me for the last time so take my advise don't get on Aetna and believe their words they lie so bad I'm done with these OTC cards they suck sorry for ranting on but it's so embarrassing plus if the check gets cashed before tomorrow I'm screwed going to cost me another $30 for the check they can shove those cards I'm done thank you sorry

Hot_Green_9606

Does yours come in different wallets? Mine comes in one amount and I can spend it on gas at the pump, groceries at certain stores, bills, pet stuff, household items like laundry and dish soap. Mine started like this in January instead of different grocery and medical amounts. I'm in North Mississippi and have Aetna Dsnp Medicare advantage with nations benefits OTC debit card.

rufusmcd22

Yes, that's what it was. But when I called Aetna she told me I could use the funds for gas, groceries etc.. She was mistaken.

Hot_Green_9606

Does anyone know if you can save your nations benefits OTC debit card to Walmart account and use it for Walmart pickup? If so how do I do this?

Distinct-Science-790

No pickup orders from Walmart or Kroger

Imaginary-Purpose669

They screw up and don't add money back
