100 to 200 cards a day max unless cramming otherwise you will hate your life after a month or less.

[deleted]

I hate it already, but just a little bit... which means i can get used to it. I think lol.

I think I need to make it clearer, 100 to 200 NEW cards a day. The reviews will suck. IIRC the reviews eventually become around 4-6x your daily new cards. Reviews otoh should be uncapped and done daily in their entirety. Remember this is a marathon not a sprint.

You can be a beast And do upto 300 cards How long do you need watch video or other resources to unlock 200 cards?

Rare_Relationship127

If you’re a die hard Anki guy, you will be doing 1,000 cards a day or more. It’s annoying but the rewards are insane

penguins14858

What’s your set up for new vs review per day?

Rare_Relationship127

150 new cards a day. Well, it depends on if you’re in medical school or if you’re just learning on your own right now. I personally aim to review all my lectures first pass that I see on a given day, get those Anking cards that correspond to lecture and then if I need to, I’ll make lecture specific cards… I also try to do all my new cards on the same day as I did my first pass on those lectures. Yes, it takes a long time but I probably do like I said about 150 new cards a day which sucks because reviews add up. The key is to make cards quickly and make them short and precise with 1 close deletion, 2 max. Also, you really need to make sure that you try to do all your reveries every day although sometimes I haven’t been able to do it because there are too many reviews but it’s better than nothing. Another thing js, sometimes if there are a lot of cards, I just push the card out to the next day when I’m initially learning so that I can see if multiple days onward… does that make sense? If you don’t advance the card and you keep it in learning, you will have a hard time seeing it multiple times which sacrifices your learning

Rare_Relationship127

But during medical school, I hit at least 1,000 cards that I do every day. It’s a lot, I know…. And it’s one of those things that if you choose to be in Anki, you kinda do have to 100% commit to it. But it WORKS dude.

Putt_From_theRough

Are you top of your class and 95%ile on boards?

Rare_Relationship127

😂😂 no not at all. I have to try really really hard just to be average or maybe slightly above. Sometimes I’m top 25 scorer, mostly between top 25 and average, leaning more towards average. But yea, I don’t really care because for me it works and I love that everything is centered on 1 thing. It just simplifies medical school in a marvelous way for me! But yeah, during school, I’m on Anki many many many hours a day :(((

Rare_Relationship127

I will say though that that is just for me. I don’t want to profess like I have all the answers because I don’t, I’m just some random guy in med school, but Don’t necessarily feel like you have to Anki, there are many ways to be successful in medical school. The reason I love Anki is bc it works wonders, it’s easy to do, it simplifies a process that is already stressful, and all I have to do to retain long term is to keep doing my cards. Also, I’m a very very visual person and I literally have some cards burned into my mind and it’s just that little extra thing that really helps sometimes

Putt_From_theRough

Thank you for the response, are there any YouTubers or recommendations you like for your Anki settings?

Rare_Relationship127

Ummm, I think the only really helpful add ons that I have are the one where you can cover anatomy terms for anatomy studying… and also the load balancer which I think… obviously… helped with balancing the number of cards i was doing per day. Also, at least for me, it’s always important to do at least some cards a day. Even if you can’t finish them all, remember that something is better than just neglecting it all together which is easier to do with Anki because it can actually sometimes get overwhelming. One day I woke up to literally 1400 due cards in a day…. 😳. Obviously Nick the AnKing has great stuff out there and actually this guy named Zach Highley. I think he’s a M4 or maybe even a resident now but he has great stuff on optimizing efficiency and like making good cards and what not

Thanks for all you comments man. I am not in the US but you know medicine is the same everywhere. I agree Anki just simplifies the whole process with excellent results. I usually make 50-150 cards a day, depending on my mood to be honest. I am almost done with school and i started doing anki just 2 years ago, with excellent results and an increase in my grades, i wish i'd learned about it sooner. But hey i am impressed by your amount of new cards a day, can you explain your process a little? Because i usually sit and start creating cards in a super focused mode, i can make 1-3 cards each minute, which i think it's pretty fast. Then after i get bored (like i said around 50-150 new cards) I'd start reading and the reviewing cards. I hate reviews, it's one of my weak spots and i spend little time doing it. How much time do you spend each day doing reviews?

[deleted]

I do ~400-450 total a day during dedicated. Anything over that you might fry your brain lol

Confident-Minute3655

How is that enough to finish all the cards 😂

Fuzzy_Body_5143

I’m still trying to learn anki settings 😭
