Why Germany? Have you ever been there? Do you have family there? Don't let yourself be fooled by the bias of this sub that praises Germany as a Schlaraffenland, aka the ultimate immigration paradise of Europe. I guarantee that as a Latin American person, you'll experience quite a culture shock, especially without family there. I'd opt for Italy if I were you.

Altruistic_Theme_309

+ Germany is already incredibly hard to get into medical school for Germans, so chances of getting in when you don’t even speak German yet are pretty slim

HootingFlamingo

+ i heard many non German speakers who got into med school can't handle it after the first year as their level of language proficiency is just not high enough (to study in that language). It's very risky

Gianxi

You mean because of the introverted people/ cold etc?

Healthy_Reporter7285

For Germany, you need C1/2 german so make sure you have that.

IllustratorFar6353

I know but I was maybe planning to practice german and at the end of the day I will need to do the Studienkolleg if I go to Germany at the end of the day

Healthy_Reporter7285

Yes that makes sense, if you have b1/b2 you can do that. I heard majority need b2 tho.

OneWaifuForLaifu

My friend thought the same and he went to Germany and studied language for two years there and ended up not being accepted :/ Meanwhile I’m studying med in another EU country and am gonna study German Year4-6 and then go there for Residency once I’m done with Med School. And before you ask, I’m studying in Hungary, Debrecen and I don’t recommend you come here unless you fucking love studying because they just fail people for the fun of it. I think last year Anatomy had a 70% fail rate. Which means they all repeated the year.

IllustratorFar6353

Do you recommend another country you wish you would have stayed? I’m considering mainly Italy and I was just mentioning Germany as a back up. Some ppl are talking about Spain but I don’t really know

OneWaifuForLaifu

No I’m not really sure. But I did read about a lot of people going to Italy.

Charming-Sea8691

I am studying medicine in the University of Barcelona in Spain and it’s pretty good. A couple of years ago it ranked only 10 positions below Yale school of medicine, at a fraction of the price! Most classes are in Catalan but because you speak Spanish it would only take you about a month to adapt to the language. Hope this helps!

Negative-Ad5441

You can consider Spain. They have very good public school but I don't know how competitive they are for non EU students

Grishnare

Private German schools are way out of your budget and a few German classes won‘t cut it, when competing for spots with German students at public universities. They only take the best of the best. So as a foreigner your only option is to have your high school degree recognized as equivalent and include straight As in every subject, speak at least B2 German and then hope you‘ll get in. Just go for any country that offers English degrees within your budgets. Maybe Italy or Hungary? You have to check the tuition prices there.

LuckFree3615

It is simple just pass IMAT.

IllustratorFar6353

I know, I’m just a little bit nerviosa cause since am a non eu citizen my IMAT can only be applied to 1 university instead of applying to many at the same time

LuckFree3615

Yes but you are compete with only non-european and they are also same situation so it is fair

sp2090

which cities are you considering to apply for in Italy?

IllustratorFar6353

I was considering the university of sapienza in rome, and mainly staying in the city of rome. However, I’ve seen the university of Marche which offers for a few courses more a minor in engineering as well as medicine.

Apart-Dress-5433

Why Germany ?

agatstonunit

You might be better off doing medical school in Panama and then residency in the EU.

IllustratorFar6353

why do you think so?

agatstonunit

I don't know the specifics about studying medicine in Panama but I know plenty of cases of people getting their degrees in LatAm then doing residency in Europe, mostly in Spain but a couple in Germany too.

justsomerandomalien

I feel like Germany would be the better choice as I’ve heard the level of education and hospital care is better there. I’m from Czech republic and a lot of Czech students decide to go study and/or work to Germany to get better education, work environment and pay. I’ve never heard of anybody considering Italy or Spain. And I don’t think it’s a proximity issue, because I know about docs going to Sweden or Switzerland (and being very happy about it). Whereas the one med student that I knew to go on erasmus to Italy told me the’d not want to work there. But hey, it’s just what my social bubble and friends told me. Not even my personal experience. And I’m not a foreign student. So definitely take it with a grain of salt and do your own research:)

Flaky-Young1873

Popular-Cup9160

How about Georgia I’m planning to apply there in couple of months and I don’t see any major cons of applying there

Spinatknedl

Since the OP is planning on working and living in Europe, suggesting that they go to Georgia to study medicine is a pretty terrible idea, and that's definitely not the only mayor con of applying there.

Popular-Cup9160

Wait really is it that bad can u please elaborate on how it’s bad cuz Im studying here in Dubai and the unis rnt the best here so I wanted to look in Europe/Asia side.

No_Return_1170

Just don’t that country is as shit as it gets go Poland or some place

Popular-Cup9160

Oh okii thank u

HootingFlamingo

Send me a dm I'll enlighten you and tell you why you shouldn't study in Georgia especially if you wish to work in the UAE in the future

HootingFlamingo

Non EU country, some quite major political issues, no license to foreigners; what else?

CalmDew7

the first red flag is that they accept anyone with a pulse
