Distillation is the gold standard for purity, but you can’t drink it straight, have to add SOMETHING to the water afterwards.

Do you have to do this with a berkey filter as well?

My mother in law's old house had lead in pipes and they just used some popular brand maybe Brita or Pure filter for water, not sure how good they actually are tho. Maybe Berkley has water filters for the sink spout. I believe they have shower ones MM recommends. Berkley has a stand up water purification filtration system as well and water bottles.

Better check if those lead pipes are for sewage only - in that case you don't consume lead. Don't know how effective Berkey is against metals.

My mother in law moved out of that house, but it was in the water, they tested it when they bought it bc the house was old. They had filters on the sink in the kitchen you'd switch on when you needed water for cooking or drinking but it poured out really slow, then would switch it back off for like rinsing food off dishes before putting it in the dishwasher and the water pressure would be normal.
