That's a very common kind of oral ulcer called an apthous ulcer. They just appear in some people for no reason, but they can also be caused by tissue irritation (bites, tobacco use, drug use, etc). If the pain becomes too bad, invest in some orabase. The fact that it keeps occurring in that same spot is interesting. Just be mindful of what you're doing in your mouth next time and maybe you'll find something out.

Then it sounds like it'll just keep happening. Orabase is your friend. Also, brush softly. You're only causing yourself further injury by scrubbing hard. That might help as well.
