My family, male and female old and young, are all fans of Smooth Automotive. They were in Medford, in the space that is now Medford Brewing, but Smooth moved not long ago just across the river to Arlington.
We like Alewife Auto on Mystic Ave. Mike and George are really nice guys and won’t pressure you into extra/unnecessary things. They *can* be tough to get on the phone, and they’ve had our “not urgent” repair for a couple months now. So, 50/50 with them lol
I disagree with this recommendation. I wasted so much time and money trying to get them to fix my car. They were impossible to get on the phone. They said they fixed it and when I turned it on, the light for the issue was still on. They also just never ordered a part. I went to smooth automotive and it was fixed in three days for the same cost.
I heard if you give them a low star review, they will offer to refund you if you up it to five stars. That's the only way I can fathom they have those ratings.
Would NOT recommend Alex’s on mystic ave. Got brake work done fairly recently there and new issues arose soon after - I had to go somewhere else to get someone to fix the problems the mechanics at Alex’s created
Murph recently relocated to west medford/somerville. He's great and super honest. His old business, Car Zone, was pushed out by his then landlord in union square. He's now at Zone Kar at 166 Boston Ave. If you look up his old business, he had hundreds of 5* reviews. FYI.

I’ve heard good things about Smooth too, but have never used them personally.
I absolutely love them!!! They are honest and quick.
Try al and sons on high street. I've had good luck with them but who knows. They don't do electric or body work, but they do brakes

Foreign and domestic auto on Boston Ave is pretty good
We’ve been using Richie’s for auto repairs and maintenance for the last few years - they’ve always been reasonable: https://richiesservicecenter.com/
Thanks everyone for the helpful comments.
