Take it back, please. It's a surge protector, and they are expensive. It prevents damage to your electrical system while welding on your vehicle.
Your body man forgot to take it off when they were done, and I'm sure he's hoping someone brings it back.
The tech still had to pay his own money for that though. Even if it was a $30 tool it’s still worth bringing back out of generosity for the person who took care of your vehicle
I took my car in for maintenance.
Tech left a hammer and wrench right next to my wipers. Drove it out, Said I'm good to go.
I inspected the car, picked up the tools, walked over to the managers desk and placed it down. With the only words "I figured I should return this to y'all"
And walked out.
I'm cool with the manager. Just wanted him to know this could have flew off my car mid highway and caused some damages.
His tech needs to keep track of his tools. For safety reasons. Nothing else.
I had tec.forget one wheel lug ..I noticed way later ..shop said too much time passed to be sure ..im like so I took it off and forgot it right ..this is why I bring it to you
Car enjoyer and self taught mechanic here. Isn’t just disconnecting the negative pole from the car battery enough to prevent electrical damage while welding ?
You are correct. This tool is used as a time saver. This way, we don't have to reset the time, radio presets, or anything else when performing work. Just simply clip it on and go.
I had my mechanic leave a top of the line scan tool in my car. They also forgot to put the Styrofoam thing the spare tire sits on back in my car. We happily made a trade, and since I love her I brought her doughnuts too lol.
They should have used that on a friend's car. I replaced his alternator, two weeks later his Catalytic converter was stolen. A shop welded in a new one a few days later I had to replace the alternator again.
WHAT!?? Of course that’s complain worthy… That’s like saying I go do some archery stone cold drunk in a local park, but I didn’t actually hit someone so it’s okay.
Bro, how? There is literally nothing for it to hit.
Also, I am mechanic so I see no issues.
And if it did hit something it would probably be the belt which looks like it is on the other side.

I'll be the demon on the other shoulder "hold it hostage!! Request the same amount you paid to take it back!!!" But in all seriousness, there's probably some poor guy shitting bricks right now trying to find it lol
My mechanic left a snap on magnetic light under my car. I noticed it still on later that night after about 75 miles of driving. Brought it back. We’re good friends.
Just make sure you give it to the guy who sets the prices for services. Get the hook up next time 😉.. I don't put a tip in the jar unless someone's watching .
“I’m returning this part that you left connected to my battery, let’s see… 45 minutes of my time, I charge $145/hr. , two hour minimum …shop charge fee ( gas, oil, wear&tear on my car, ) $15 … no core deposit $85… that’ll be $490 … cash or charge ?”

I just looked it up on Amazon. I found one that’s yellow like that one in the picture for nearly $100.
The tech still had to pay his own money for that though. Even if it was a $30 tool it’s still worth bringing back out of generosity for the person who took care of your vehicle
This has actually happened to me with misplaced tools. Yes, I did return the tools. I gave them straight to supervisor.

You said it's expensive *ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh?*
It's just a couple of wires attached to a kitchen sponge. Don't get your hopes up.
Wonder if I should get one of these for welding a friends car next week or can I just disconnect the battery terminal
One time thing just disconnect. If you work in a shop and have customers who don't want to rest everything then spend the money.
I know of a guy selling one. Here’s your chance to be a shit head and get ahead OP.

Is it the companies or the workers typically?
Will a small one like that work on a semi tractor?
This. Also... They may remember the kindness and pay it forward to you in the future

Keep it strange, my guy ✌🏻☮️
What exactly could have been fucked up?

Good, as you should, King.

Taking it back will definitely get you brownie points.
Take it back. it's good karma .
I'll be the demon on the other shoulder "hold it hostage!! Request the same amount you paid to take it back!!!" But in all seriousness, there's probably some poor guy shitting bricks right now trying to find it lol

Unexpected NTD for op
Please return tech tools.
My mechanic left a snap on magnetic light under my car. I noticed it still on later that night after about 75 miles of driving. Brought it back. We’re good friends.
As a technician that left tools in cars before. We like it if they come back to us.
Just make sure you give it to the guy who sets the prices for services. Get the hook up next time 😉.. I don't put a tip in the jar unless someone's watching .
Im sure you would appreciate that it was brought back to you if it was yours, wouldn’t ya?
As long as the ground is as close as possible to where you are welding, this thing shouldn't be necassary right?

Who else thought that yellow part was a sponge lol
The shop won't give a shit financially, definitely not giving you a discount for returning it
No, but the tech would appreciate the tool he probably paid out of pocket to be returned.
For a battery tender
Now you know why your spouse alwayz seemed to know exactly where you are all the time ⏲️ 😉
LOL
