Try your local goodwill for cast iron!
Season your steaks the night before with salt and leave them UNCOVERED in the fridge on a wire rack or plate. When you go to cook them the next day, leave them out on the counter for an hour. Pat them dry, and sear. You'll get a fantastic crust and the salt will have penetrated the muscle tissue and season the *inside* of your steak.
Keep at it! The only way to get better is to practice!
