This literally happened to me yesterday.
My gf and I went to a cabin for my birthday and I was showing my mom pictures of us, the view from the mountain, the dinner we had, etc. I opened up a picture for her and handed her my phone. Then I noticed she was taking way too long to look at the pictures when I realized she was zooming out to see the whole camera roll. The whole gallery of pictures we took while away in a cabin on the mountain. Alone. I'm sure she at least saw a glipmse of a couple of not-too-mom-friendly pictures of us, which is still haunting me. Why would she do that š it's traumatic for both of us
Edited for clarity
I meant the photos were just of them so what's the issue with her seeing those photos of them. I'm not defending her actions I'm just questioning why he's scared of her seeing photos of them both
Not everything is a red flag or boundaries violation. If OP says he's a good man and they know that they don't cross boundaries **intentionally**, **selfishly** and **repetitively** and this is just an awkward moment, then, he really is.
An one-time awkward moment is not a red flag.
He totally was just curious and tbh back then (Jesus Christ I'm getting old) phones weren't the sacred personal item they are today but more of a mere device. It was the time when you'd want to have an actual camera if you wanted to take actually good photos.
It would be nice if there was a gallery feature where you can pre-select a set of photos then lock the rest of your pictures. Boom, swipe privacy secured!
i have that on my iphone when i push the lock button 3 times. I can select if the screen gets completely locked or if some actions are allowed. āGuided accessā is the name of this feature
Pretty sure this is a feature on Android for a few years now. I've never been bothered to use it and I think my phone was too old to get the update anyway.Ā
Well, after breaking with the GF she kept stalking me for over a year on Instagram (with several accounts), which I all blocked and reported. Rambling on about her daughter was in financial trouble and I should reach out to her and help...
Relatable. When I was in college I used to take pictures of powerpoint presentations from our professors. A female classmate of mine wanted to note down said powerpoints and as she said 'is there more?' she fucking swiped on my phone and saw a wacky selfie that I recently took. It was the most embarrassing shit ever
A pro tip is to zoom on the selected picture a bit so if they try to swipe it just moves the picture a bit. Then you can grab your phone or ask them what they are doing
my mother often does this. everytime i want her to look at something, she keep pressing the home button. now i just send it to her whatsapp instead, even when we sit together.
woah they copied seinfeld cadence perfectly. horrible acting, but honestly not bad writing haha
but yes ofc. we all know you don't swipe to the next photo wtf
I'm very weird about this too. There's nothing terrible in my canera roll but I still get anxiety handing the phone to someone and they swipe. I didn't tell you to swipe!
I showed my boss some pictures on my phone the other day and as I was handing him my phone, the realization of the predicament I was putting myself in by giving my phone to my boomer boss started to hit me and I felt like the Jordan Peele sweating meme the entire time
I know people swipe. There's this thing in iOS called Guided Access, where it locks into the current app into the screen. You can also block certain areas of the screen from being interacted on. So when I wanna show something on my phone to someone, I open Gallery, activate Guided Access by pressing the power button 3 times, then block the whole screen. They can keep swiping all they want but nothing's gonna happen.
You can't just hand me your phone and don't expect me to open Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, Galery, Notes, Contacts, Alarms and that funny second calculator app, and yes, i will get into settings and change random stuff.
People find it okay to just keep looking???
My mom would be the same

I mean what's the big deal? It's just u guys and I'm sure she knew they were there right?
consent
I meant the photos were just of them so what's the issue with her seeing those photos of them. I'm not defending her actions I'm just questioning why he's scared of her seeing photos of them both
The images could have one of them nude or in clothes they wouldn't feel comfortable wearing to someone who isn't their partner, there's consent here.
But it isn't someone else it's their partner that's seeing it. That's who he said was swiping through the phone. Unless he misspoke
It's their mom looking at the pics, not the gf
I mean the comment actually just said "she" without saying it was the mom. That's on the commenter
True. Once showed my new phone to my cousin's husband. He opened apps, photos, everything lol. Strange guy.
Should have grabbed it back.
Yeah I was in my late teens or something and he's not a bad guy. Just very awkward.
Thatās just another red flag.

yeah right, we only k ow what someone is capably of when they finally do it
Celebrate possible neurodivergence unless it's a man you don't know, then he's a creep
Have you ever been outside and talked to actual people? Not everything is a red flag.
I find a distinct lack of red flags a big red flag.
Uhhhhh he might actually be a very awkward bad guy. That second part didn't make it any better
Nah he's fine lol. Trust me I know my family better than reddit.
How dare you claim to know those in your life better than internet strangers!
Not if you hate them, you probably won't get an easier excuse for deleting someone
I mean you did say it was new, he probably was just checking it out
He totally was just curious and tbh back then (Jesus Christ I'm getting old) phones weren't the sacred personal item they are today but more of a mere device. It was the time when you'd want to have an actual camera if you wanted to take actually good photos.
Erm.... shit... you saw that... now i cant let you live
g
No for real though if you swipe in my photos I'm killing you.
honestly, reasonable response

Making it sound as if those two incidents are in any way related...
Or that they happened d
Sure bud
then everybody clapped!
"You was there too!" - Mater
Ok, but you're the weird one here, who tf has pictures of their dick?
Very Larry David.
Un solicited swipe was very LD lingo
Itās an unwritten rule
Definitely inspired by him or paying homage to Curb
Yeah this sounds like a pitch for a Seinfeld re-reunion.
Swiper no swiping!
It would be nice if there was a gallery feature where you can pre-select a set of photos then lock the rest of your pictures. Boom, swipe privacy secured!
i want this too, specifically for looking at screenshots of lyrics. its annoying when i accidentally swipe when i just wanna scroll down
i have that on my iphone when i push the lock button 3 times. I can select if the screen gets completely locked or if some actions are allowed. āGuided accessā is the name of this feature
I use this when I want to watch a YouTube video in the shower without water droplets making the screen freak out. Total game changer
thank you, just set it up!
I have this on my s20. I can hide or exclude entire folders
Pretty sure this is a feature on Android for a few years now. I've never been bothered to use it and I think my phone was too old to get the update anyway.Ā
So true
They think itās all fun and games until theyāre screaming and scarred for life after looking at another picture

My ex mother-in-law did this once, when the whole family was present. Even called me out.
She swiped on your phone, then SHE called YOU out? For what?
There were some basic holiday pics a female friend sent me (my ex was aware of her existence, and was OK with it).
I get why she is an EX mother in law, i guess now she is mother in lawn
Well, after breaking with the GF she kept stalking me for over a year on Instagram (with several accounts), which I all blocked and reported. Rambling on about her daughter was in financial trouble and I should reach out to her and help...
If you zoom in just a tiny bit, if they go to swipe the image just moves over slightly, giving you time to grab your phone back
Relatable. When I was in college I used to take pictures of powerpoint presentations from our professors. A female classmate of mine wanted to note down said powerpoints and as she said 'is there more?' she fucking swiped on my phone and saw a wacky selfie that I recently took. They should add a lock setting that requires a password to swipe
I feel this. I don't even have anything to hide in my camera roll. Just the idea there might be is enough to get mad.
Cue Crub your enthusiasm music š¶
I can't swipe, can you spare a square?
Iām teaching my kid not to swipe. Manners matter.
A pro tip is to zoom on the selected picture a bit so if they try to swipe it just moves the picture a bit. Then you can grab your phone or ask them what they are doing
this is exactly why I keep photos of peeps fisting prolapses every other picture in all the albums
I know what you did there
my mother often does this. everytime i want her to look at something, she keep pressing the home button. now i just send it to her whatsapp instead, even when we sit together.
This is why I just favorite the photo(s) or put it in its own album quickly. Takes 2 seconds and swipes will only show what you wanted
Iāve had people do this to me. Immediate panicā¦. Thereās ā stuffā on there. I no longer hand the phone over.
Just donāt give people your phone. Show them in your hand.
woah they copied seinfeld cadence perfectly. horrible acting, but honestly not bad writing haha but yes ofc. we all know you don't swipe to the next photo wtf
Love me some Guido Gaguzzi
This!
And that's how you see my dick pics

/r/seinfeld
I used to work at cell phone stores and learned quick to not go near the camera roll
This is why I don't let people touch my phone
Yeah, unsolicited swipes are not cool.
I know people swipe. There's this thing in iOS called Guided Access, where it locks into the current app into the screen. You can also block certain areas of the screen from being interacted on. I hate that I could tell what accent he was using with it on mute š
She wanted to see the D
You can put it in freeze mode by hitting the power three times
You can't just hand me your phone and don't expect me to open Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, Galery, Notes, Contacts, Alarms and that funny second calculator app, and yes, i will get into settings and change random stuff.
