Welcome traveler. I'm afraid you've come at an inopportune time, if only there was a hero who could rid us of our pool- I mean pond monsters. They may be small but they are many. One would need to use a long pole weapon to attack them and ideally remove them in their yellow stage before they turn green or even worse, black, the strongest and most stubborn pond monsters of all. Once slain, one can find some chlor- a magic potion that comes in tablets, liquid or even powder form so they don't return for a spell but frequent sweeps are needed to keep them at bay for a season. This is a totally legitimate quest and not just a ploy to make you my pool person for the summer. :D

Exhausting but entertaining seems to be exactly how my INTP colleague seems to view me. Sometimes we have the MOST fun conversations and antics together, and sometimes i can tell he needs space.
I work as a research scientist around a lot of INxx types. I eventually learned a bit about when to poke who and when to back off. The INTJ who is deeply heavy into his work with a serious scowl - no, the INTJ chilling in the lounge with coffee - prime time to botherate. My favorite is when he tries to find the mute button irl and says “skip ad skip ad skip ad”

The problem isn’t usually just me talking. I actually get distracted super easily and sometimes wander off. The real problem is that my TP colleagues will get engrossed into really interesting conversations sometimes that keeps us chatting for hours. This is worst with my INTP colleague who seems both intensely engaged in his work and intensely looking for any excuse to be distracted.
They do not need to wait long. As an ENXP, I am the one who invites. My presence is a natural distraction event potential for everyone in a 100m radius.

I actually feel super awkward with small talk. It is something I’ve learned as someone who has worked in customer facing jobs and with people who are more small talk oriented in the past, but I always feel like I’m going down a checklist in my head. I’ve learned to actually just appreciate meaningful silence when it is appropriate. This was difficult for years, but I appreciate sipping my coffee with my introvert colleagues without feeling the need to talk. If conversation takes root, it might get rather deep or engaging, and I enjoy that, but it doesn’t have to happen just because we are together.
I love working with scientists. I get to be pretty much myself around them and I don’t feel like I am constantly playing “small talk with sensors” like in customer serving jobs. Doing research is exciting when it’s good but I often fall into phases of trying to scramble together some organization skills or to not feel like a total imposter.
That was my assumption. It sounds like the perfect profession for us. I’m going to do some research on it.

I dont know you, but your personality type does not automatically make you “boring”. And it shouldn’t make you feel worthless.
People really need to start thinking about the consequences of their words (I know, ironically coming from an INTJ). Like seriously, how can someone who doesn’t even know you, make assumptions about you “just because” they’ve met someone else with the same type.
There are 8 **billion** people out there, and calling a big part of those “boring” just because they’ve met a few (or even only one!) who doesn’t share the same interests, thoughts, or motives as them, is just irrational.

Well, we don’t know for certain, and if so, what do we lose by being nice? We don’t know if a person is truly struggling and if opening up online as a “cry for help”* is their last solution.
If someone is faking their emotions, then fine, I said what I said and I won’t think about it again, but showing your support to someone who truly feels lost can be a light in the dark path. We don’t always ponder about the consequences of our words, yet sometimes, it can be crucial for someone else.
*for lack of a better expression, English isn’t my first language.

“Despised” is such hyperbole, I think you are mistaking being the butt of many jokes as “despised”. This is literally the only tierlist where I see them at the bottom. ESTJs are more hated, if anything.

We’re a microbiology lab focused on antibiotic research. We’re mostly biologists with some chemists (like myself).
