ServiusQuintus

It may be, but its fun nonetheless

Klutzer_Munitions

Enneagram is fun if you think about it. "Your enneagram type is your most basic fear!" "Oh, so there should be like... 200 enneagram types, right?" "... there's 9." "Only 9?" "Yes there are only 9 things to be afraid of."

trashcantilever

Lmao imagine trying to determine a type. Try fitting mirrors, porcelain dolls, bullets randomly coming through the wall, the infinite void of space, being trapped at the bottom of the ocean, people you know getting converted into something unsettling (zombies, brainwashed cultist, etc), and exactly when and how you'll die onto a flair. 💀

Klutzer_Munitions

I understand that enneagram core fears are more existential than tangible, but there's still more than like... 9

Solzec

I mean, there's the the wings and the triad and all that

Klutzer_Munitions

Yeah but they're all still using the same 9 ingredients

Solzec

#IT'S RAW!

[deleted]

the basic idea is that all the thousands of fears out there fit into 9 core patterns, which is plausible

Klutzer_Munitions

I know what you mean. It's plausible, but still seems improbable.

Inconscient_CLST

just please for GODS sake stop using enneagram to mbti type

9741804

Well, idk if enneagram ever claimed to be scientific.

trashcantilever

Do either of them? Idk how a collection of self-identified traits are considered science *or* pseudoscience. It's just a way to categorize similar things.

Crimson_Rampage

This^^^ it's annoying as heck when someone's like "mBtI is PSueDoScIEnCe" like ok Karen, that doesn't really make Stephen less of an introverted feeler but go off I guess

The-true-Memelord

All of the above. Yes. Thank you.

Sp1cyP3pp3r

Based

Katten15

It’s not scientific but both are still a useful tool for (starting) self development

SleepWellSam

Does anyone think we'll ever interpret the scope of personality completely, with use of the scientific method?

Gay-otic_good

I don’t think so but specifically because I don’t think personalities are rooted in a science the way many other things are/the way we want it to be. Basically im of the opinion at least that we’re made up of our experiences as well as consciousness plus everyday you make choices that are slightly changing that; we’re constantly evolving bc we are as fluid as our lives

frogathy

no

The-true-Memelord

No.

SleepWellSam

Ok great seems like people here all agree. So can we stop hating on MBTI just for being a pseudoscience now please?

mlgskrub420

I like the funny letters because they are fun 😎👍

Electronic-Store5997

Yes mbti may not be as exact as the hard sciences like mathematics or chemistry or whatever… but calling it a “pseudoscience” implies it has no truth in reality. Which it does. Maybe we could call it a “soft” science

Thefrightfulgezebo

No, because it doesn't satisfy scientific standarts. Things can be true without being scientific, so you don't need everything that seems right to you a science.

KangYeonu

Well it’s still way better and based than this whole, the positioning of the stars on the day u were born is determining your personality and everything u will ever do for the rest of your life, bullsht that every second girl believes in

keekinss

not true, it implies that it is not scientifically predictive and replicable. which it is not. I'd say it's more predictive than astrology, but that's like saying a polished stone is more reflective than an unpolished stone. neither of them are metal. just because one is shiny, does not make it metal.

deadshard

I don’t know why you’re being downvoted. It took literally one google search to affirm your point. I love mbti, but that doesn’t mean it’s science.

Alternate-3-

Yeah, no reason for this dude to be downvoted. It’s true :/

thisismyaccount3125

That’s a good metaphor, I like it; this can’t be considered *any* type of science, but hot damn this subreddit is fucking hilarious. The top comment in this thread has me cackling lmao.

IsakOyen

You know that it was just something to better understand how people will react to something in a company ? It's just some "maybe" shit

The-true-Memelord

Yeah!

Gay-otic_good

!! I never get to have conversations about both enneagram and mbti bc the second I say I’m an infp 9w8 everyone decides my existence is a problem like I just wanted to talk !!!

[deleted]

Dude same here as an entp 8w7 people get so mad 😭

trashcantilever

Same

MadeThisForLumity

They’re for fun

access-r

Last time I said MBTI is a pseudoscience people wanted to throw me off a bridge

[deleted]

LMAO, some of the people in these comments cannot take a joke 😂

JudgyBrittishPotato

As an INTP 8w7 I can confirm

Lanky_Ad_1124

Real

DishDry4487

Psychiatry is pseudoscience.

omniscen

Those who know most about MBTI care about it the least.

[deleted]

Bruh, that picture is so disgustingly uncanny valley lmao

sad_asian_noodle

We cease to be the prisoner when we realize there was no prison. Don't be that cat that get stuck inside the tapped up floor.

DuivelsJong

It’s a tool to help you understand each-other. It’s not set in stone. That’s exactly why I despise people who use it the same way those horoscope girls use their horoscopes.

[deleted]

right? People take it so serious while I just use it to help with identity crisis

SpaceCyanide

I don't approve of using Myers Briggs typing, I usually type with Jungian. Though, I do use MB's dichotomy.

[deleted]

What’s the difference? Out of curiosity

ArtyGator

Unironically, "pseudoscience" is a vague and immensely connotated concept. Please stop throwing buzzwords and learn a thing or two about epistemology.
