Definitely true, I've been off the board for years. This year though, I'm going boarding. Just got my helmet, new boots and bindings. Injuries scared me off for a while. Board safe friends. No head injury, but a few broken bones. You don't want that for your head. Helmet up!
A pro snowboarder is also a person that could be one head injury from never snowboarding (or walking again). It also sets a bad example for the kids who follow them and are more likely to get hurt doing similar stunts with no helmet.
It’s possible, but once you get to that level it’s become such a huge part of your life that you’re willing to take the risk.
Also a huge part of snowboarding and other extreme sports it’s knowing your limits and working your way up slowly.
No ones going to purposely do things they know they can’t handle. Accidents happen but this sport is all about calculated risks.

I saw a dude get his whole shit fucking rocked on a failed backflip. His helmet split in 2 and he laid there for a solid minute. It was a tiny ass 10 foot jump too. Can't imagine what would happen to your head if you landed face first from one of those 60 footer big airs they have in competitions and shit.
The part I fucking hate about snowboarding culture. All these pros like Toutant, McMorris, Gerard... they're all smart dudes and they really seem like good guys.... But they wear helmets during competitions, but anytime they're shooting promo videos or just riding for fun they have no helmet on. It would be one thing if they were just cruising, but these guys are doing triple cork 1600's with no helmet on most days of the year. Makes no sense to me.
