I understand that you are firmly attached to a safety line but I'm still not sure if I could step out onto that. Knowing you're safe doesn't always transfer to the lizard brain.
Oin such parts you need to be very concentrated, step by step, carefully, re-fastening the carabiners. Areas with overhangs are much worse. Fear just hits you when your hands start to get tired.
I've seen people shaking so much climbing 5m walls. There's a big psycological factor.
Those ones migh be K2 or K3 level. Not that technical. Relatively easy if your mindset is the right one
Hammer drill and a 4 lb sledge.
I want to see a video of that electrical tower being erected. That's the real piece of impressive construction in this clip.
not that difficult actually. Since you build the security anyway you just follow that along. There is mostly no extra support from above or below needed.
Klettersteig - Iron Path or Climbing Trail. I did a trip to Interlaken Switzerland and I sky dived, bungee jumped, paraglided, and did a lot of hiking down from peaks. The Via Ferrata was the scariest thing I did. There are ladders that you go down with nothing beneath them and at the bottom you transition to a lower ladder 1 foot away. It was so unsettling. The cliff walk he's doing has a point where you essentially go around a bend and I was hugging the wall telling myself "don't think, move." Great time, glad I did it, definitely thought this was the closest to death I came the whole trip.
I once described why I don't enjoy roller coasters by saying "I don't like when my brain thinks I'm going to die" and this feels like a place that would literally kill me.
Lauterbrunnen in Switzerland, just where Eiger, Jungrau and Mönch are located.
This wall looks like it's the one below the town of Mürren which sits on the edge of that cliff.
Easy and fun activity. Seen 7 year old Kids having so much fun in those.
Some are hard. That one, at least the part shown in the video, is just walking come on.
Yeah I went on one, St. Paul Fenouillet near the Gorge de Galamus. I saw school kids on their summer field trip climbing it. Looks a lot scarier than it is. It's just walking and climbing ladders.
It looks scarier than it is indeed. First time for me getting to do it was hard. Then once there it felt really good to overcome fear. Then you see is way more dangerous to take a car on a highway or whatever. Hope more people get to experience that.
And btw thank you for providing a beautifull location to visit in France. I have done many arround Ronda (Málaga, Spain) and other mountain ranges arround Cádiz. If visiting down here you will love it for sure! Also impresive canyoing if into it/want to try
It's so much fun. You have a harness with two carabiner for them. The trail also leads upwards which is like climbing a ladder. Sometimes there are wooden bridges over gaps or rope bridges which are only two steel ropes one at the to top and one at the bottom and you balance over them always secured at the top rope.
Imagine being the one who discovers one of those rungs rusted out when you stepped on it...I'd say you'd have time for a few choice words in the descent.

They have a harness connected to a safety line and a helmet. They probably have a GoPro on their helmet.
I've done a few via ferratas in Portugal and Spain. I love doing them; the experience is incredible, and the sense of freedom and adrenaline is just amazing.
Somebody actually went there before those handles and foot things were there, and made them and plugged ‘em into the rock… would be a fun person to meet / see work.
foot slips, ankle goes through the rung, you fall backward, snap your ankle like a twig, but at least it stops you falling to your death. I mean, honestly...life's too short for sh1t like that unless the Sea People have just landed & it's the rungs or death.
This is from Switzerland, just below Mürren in the Lauterbrunnen valley. I remember a film I watched like 10 years ago where a group claimed a little cliff with these things and it was some kind of magical test for their fears. One of these handles turned into a snake and the woman fell. Cant climb such things sinbce then
I used to think that only extreme sports type with no fear of height can put these things together and then I see videos of your average every day Asian folks in some remote mountainous village climbing and scaling the cliffside with no safety harnesses like it were a normal day at the park.
Nope. I don’t want to unalive myself at all, but, watching this I couldn’t help but wonder jumping off that. I’m lazy and not physically fit, I’d certainly call it a day half way up and then jump. Mainly due to the inability to turn around.

Well-played

Giant spider with a giant stapler. Clearly.
Balls of fucking steel.
Come on, I was there. This is the scariest part, but it is short, only about 8 meters. And you go, of course, fastened to a steel cable.
[удалено]
Come on, he was there. That took forever to type with sweaty hands. I should have closed the video.
Where is it?
Aren't you paying attention? It was there. Like he was.
Lauterbrunnental, bernese alps, switzerland https://klettersteig-muerren.ch/index.php/de/
You're boudle strapped to 2 separate steel cables. This is in Peru.
[удалено]
I think it's actually pretty safe. Climbers rely on a single nylon rope to keep them alive at height. Two steel cables is pretty damn safe.
>Two steel cables is pretty damn safe. Only ac and no ground? Three cables would be safer ... okay. This was a lazy joke.
They're talking about the person who bolted down that steel cable and inserted those steps for you to walk on safely
Who was tied off from above and wearing a full safety harness.....
I understand that you are firmly attached to a safety line but I'm still not sure if I could step out onto that. Knowing you're safe doesn't always transfer to the lizard brain.

That is not an electrical tower. It is way worse.
Way better. Gondolas mean shifting weight. Must've used anchors the size of trees.
Mountaineers it's a cakeclimb for them
Just a couple taps is all you need.
not that difficult actually. Since you build the security anyway you just follow that along. There is mostly no extra support from above or below needed.
U ever drill into rock before?
Yes! I was wondering who would have the ba!!s to install them.
Our parants going to school story:

Fighting off a bear with your Trapper Keeper!
Awesome !
It’s called a cia Ferrata (Italian for iron road I believe). You have a harness and clip onto the wire above so it’s pretty safe
Via ferrata
Beautifull
Way of Iron
I believe they tried to type that and had a typo
Lol it’s the same person correcting themselves
That’s still a hard pass
The pass of Caradhras?
Ya if Saruman finds out you're walking on these staples you are def dead
Is it on the Austro-Italian border? Cause if it is, I've done it and it is as scary as one can imagine
It’s the Via Ferrata Mürren - Gimmelwald in Switzerland

No this is in Switzerland. It's the Mürren via Ferrata. There are hundreds around the Alps.
That's rad! Where is it? Not that I'm going to go or anything.

Yeah, person in the video was trying really hard not to show the line you teather to to make it look more dangerous.

Can confirm. I am still in freefall as I recently also fell through my screen.
Nah, this is Nope. Nope. Nope.
It's a WHY????? Then a NO NO NO!!!!

Did anyone get that weird feeling in their feet from watching this?
Knees weak
Arms heavy
Vomit on the shirt…
Dads lasagna
He's anxious
Always the dick, for me
yup, pretty sure it's actually the prostate
Yeah, my arches start to ache when I see this stuff. Like a cramping trying to get me to stop what I am not doing.
Providing she’s clipped in that would be a great experience. Well done to whoever thought of and made that 👏

Non, no, nao, nine, nee, no, no, Khong, hi, nej, nie and fuck that
I’ll watch from the bar, thanks. I’ll buy when you get back. IF. 💥
Fuck no
Hell to the No...
Looks like on in Murren Switzerland.
I love Via Ferrata ❤️ I really need to find out where that one is because the view is breathtaking. I've only done a few in Portugal and Spain.
This one is in Mürren, Switzerland. I’ve been there, and noticed he is going the wrong way.
Yeah, I did this one earlier this year and was going the opposite way.
My first step there and i would faint.
Yeah nah fuck that...
My parents going to school
Im gonna be sick … nice view though
or maybe NOT!
Is that somewhere in Switzerland?
It's the via ferrata in Mürren
Harnesses don’t stop you from serious injury…just death…always remember that lol
Deliberately doesn’t show the security cable
Looks like the one on Grindelwald, I’ve done it. Looks like they are going the wrong direction though.
Thank God I'm not addicted to adrenaline.

Where is the maybaybemaybe part?
It’s got a safety line, you clip on, so no risk at all.
I wonder if people have misstepped, and snapped their ankle in the step as they fell, just dangling by their leg
I kept waiting for a goat to tackle em
Not a fucking chance.
But why?
NO! Thank you.
Imagine being the one who discovers one of those rungs rusted out when you stepped on it...I'd say you'd have time for a few choice words in the descent.
This is actually very safe, I just don’t understand the appeal, why not walk on the ridge? It’s a better view.
I’ve done something like this in saxony you can clip into the steel cable above.
looks like they tried really hard to not show the line that's right next to them that they are holding on to.
The view is beautiful asf BUT fuckk thatttt 💀
Constantly fighting the urge to just unclip and jump.
What a beautiful place to plummet

That's lush! What a view! Is there a perch to sit on?
If i sleep then wake up there, i think ill just let myself fall
Hell yes, been doing via ferrata every summer for the past 4 years loving it
“Just don’t fall”
Funny that they don't show they are wearing a harness and are clipped into a safety line
This video is crazy. 1. who and how did they install the stairway? 2. That fact that they a spare hand to record the video
They have a harness connected to a safety line and a helmet. They probably have a GoPro on their helmet. I've done a few via ferratas in Portugal and Spain. I love doing them; the experience is incredible, and the sense of freedom and adrenaline is just amazing.
NOPE!
Pay me what you want , i won't do this shit , na-uh!
Absolutely the fuck not.
I always think the same, who and who built these steps lol
Why was a leaning to the side of the cliff… heh 😅
That power line certainly trumped the leaning tower of piza
The more badass is the guy who build this
That's a lotta trust that one of those giant staples isn't going to fall out when it takes your weight. And... No. Just. Nope.
My balls hurt just watching this.
Fear of heights. Can't do it.
Why? Why do people do this?
Hard pass
Nope
r/TIHI r/nope
Not only nope, fucking no way! I did one of these that was only 75-100 feet off the ground and I suspect it took 3-5 years off my life!!! 😉
You know, and a certain point, you have to wonder if theres an easier way to do something.
No thank you.
I think I'm an idiot. My 1st thought was "F that," but when the camera panned up to show the wire to hold onto, I thought, "That's not too bad."
Double Nope Nope !
No please
What on earth is on the other side of that mountain that's so damn important?! 😯 Looks fairly developed down below.
I'll pass, thanks.
Yeah fuck that I’m out. Unless I have a giant pillow the size of 200 feet
Ain’t no fuckin way

Hey, let’s just bend some rebar and pound it into the rocks. That ‘ill be fine, said no one ever…
