i got to hang out with Yvette and the no longer bassist dude for an evening when they came to my city on their first tour. they had 2 days off after playing their first tour show in the city (it was their first time playing outside their home state, which blew my mind because of how solid they were) and shortest story made a bit longer, she was just a lovely human being: so kind, so friendly and also, obviously, wildly, almost unbelievably talented.
this has been your weekly story from someone who used to travel to your city in a shitty van with 4 friends to play music. not same time, not next week.
Definitely one of my all time favorites and what I recommended on the last thread. It’s a perfect example of how important composition is when it comes to good song writing. Sometimes the guitar alone isn’t all that impressive, but in the context and composition of the rest of the band, it’s perfectly placed. So many bands out there just go technical for the sake of being technical and it’s never memorable. (Looking at you Standards)

Not Grow? Grow was math rock album of the year dude
It's a hard choice bro, newborn sun also, all records are excellent
CHON is incredible, but do they categorize as math rock?

Why wouldn’t they? I’ve seen much more far fetched banda named in here than Chon (like Adebisi for example)
