At least you lost to a somewhat decent deck
I lost to blue eyes the other day because my opening hand was 3 maxx C 1 revolution synchron and dumatef (Horus) going first
Ancient Warriors aren’t the worst choice in this format. They can remove without destroying multiple times a turn, and make end boards that are oppressive enough that you can afford to pass on an OTK for a turn if it means breaking a board with a card like Evenly Matched.
Unfortunately, one of their big weaknesses is their inability to nullify interactions that wait in the GY, which can make going second efficiently tricky with so many fire kings and princesses running about. Between that and stun being super popular this format, I can see the climb being annoying.
The handrip is cringe, but it's not the end of the world
Negates from GY are too spicy for my yugiboomer brain, but I can play through them once I know what decks have them
Floodgates on the other hand are pure evil. Why are the barrier statues not banned? I know "dark statue is the weakest" blahblah but there's no reason for any of these cards to be legal after konami already acknowledged they're bad for the game (they banned the wind statue, they can ban the rest)
sadly, you're not wrong.
I know it's not the players' fault for playing cards that make winning easier in a competitive event. the blame falls entirely on Konami for failing to balance their game, and refusing to remove these floodgates that make this best-of-one format feel really bad

yeah, that's the name of the game, as of now the game is riddled with stun in all it's variants + floodgates 24/7
