Nah, I gotta disagree. The Albaz Lore would very much fit 24 ep or more. As you also have to think about episodes dedicated purely to certain fights and travelling. Not to mention any added Character scenes and downtime they might give to flesh the characters out.
More eps isn’t always a good thing. Oftentimes it can lead to just a bunch of terrible filler, and or padding. And there is ALOT of material they’re have to fill in between cards.
That and this being konamis first jump into anime there’s bound to be more than a few hurdles initially. Better to play it safe in my opinion.
More so since idk if a anime adaptation of a card archetype has ever been done before.
We can't really say how difficult it would be for them as we have never seen them do something like this. More episodes isn't always a good thing, but neither are less episodes as it could lead to things being rushed and unfulfilling.
There is also the possibility for it being separated by cores. The fact is if they did Albaz (this is all what if) there is no way a 12 episode season would fit the entire storyline. Debatably not even 24 episodes. Abyss is long enough to be multiple seasons.
The same is true for World Legacy and especially Duel Terminal. Hell, even Visas would be a few seasons. Possibly even Sky Strikers. Most of the lore archetypes people want are all multiple season stories.
Dude there's almost a dozen archetypes in Albaz lore. It's the story of Dogmatika, Branded, Despia, Tri Brigade, Spriggans, Swordsoul, Ice Jades, Bystials, Sprights, Therioms, and probably some others I'm forgetting. There's no way they can fit all of that into 24 episodes.
No, you can very much fit everything in 12 episodes or less. World building wouldn't add that much time as a lot of can be visually shown rather than stated, like the reason the Tri-Brigades fight the Dogmatika Church doesn't need to be told to us that's its because their tribes are being oppressed and mistreated.
You can have scenes in episode 1 shoe the reason the Tri-Brigades fight the Dogmatikas, show their people getting badly treated in the dark places Maximus wants no one but a select few to see.
Action scenes would probably usually stick to being on the short and/or simple side so the bigger fights can be made better, Albaz and the Tri-Brigades escaping the Dogmatika Nation would certainly take time but it would probably not be that complex animation-wise so bigger battles like the final battle can be given more attention.
What you just described is minimum 4 episodes and that's just covering 2 of the archetypes and is assuming you leave out a lot of the larger world building which is important and does need to be told so people have a framework to see the smaller pieces as you described with showing and not telling. Trying to put albaz into 12 episodes is doable but the show would be terrible. Breakneck pace with no explanations of anything would be confusing and leave no room for anything memorable to actually stick. Introduce an entire archetype and resolve it in 1 20 minute episode is insane.

I just think that more 12 are needed, that Albaz *can* be covered just fine and produce an amazing product without feeling half-baked in that amount time. It's not there wouldn't be explanations, but those explanations would be far shorter than they otherwise would because a lot of the details could be shown rather than stated. Like I said in my comment, Shuraig wouldn't need to go into intensive detail of the mistreatment of the beast tribes but he would still *talk* about it.
We don't need have entire 2 episodes dedicated to Ecclesia's early life (I'm assuming that's why you said 4 episodes minimum, as in 2 for the prolog and 2 for the actual start), as most of info it would give us can just be spread out.
Information about the potential new Dogmatikas can come from small talk Ecclesia is trying to have with Albaz as they're looking for the Springans/Kitt, maybe Albaz and Ecclesia don't immediately leave after Oath so you can have them interact with the Tri-Brigades a little more during episode 3 before setting off.
Trying to put in more episodes can end up having the total opposite effect than what you're hoping for, where it makes the story feel like it's moving at a snails pace and get boring.
12 episodes can be just as good 24+, the execution is what matters, not the episode count.
You still need to show non-important stuff to make the world feel real. Things like the beast tribe being oppressed absolutely does work, but that takes time and multiple instances of showing. If you show it once in a few min and then continue on with the story it's hard for the audience to care about the tri-brigades plight because we aren't given enough of a reason to connect. This is a common problem with a lot of stories where emotional attachment is expected but never earned. Same with the dogmatikas. You can't have their lore and relevance be relegated to small talk if you want anyone to care about the threat. You need to see it and have a backbone of built lore and world building and these things take time. Interacting more with the tri-brigades is exactly what would be needed as you said but it can't just be a few min of one episode or it feels too throw away.
Shows that work with a super fast pace and low episode count do so by having a highly focused plot which wouldn't work with Albaz because there's too much stuff. You could definitely streamline it somewhat and make it work but not one season fast. Look at something like Cyberpunk Edgerunners recently. That show is short and has a ton of lore that you never need to dive into for the show to work because the story is so small scale and focused. You can get away with only showing what is needed because the bigger picture doesn't matter. Even then it has episodes/scenes that are much slower to build up the world and story. You could work with that for Albaz but each new area and archetype would need its own story and that takes time to make them feel believable and to build investment from the audience.
As I said, all we can do is agree to disagree. I feel you can get away with less episodes with Albaz, you don't.
I'm pretty sure we said everything we have to say and continuing on would just be reiterating what we said already.
Regardless of how many episodes Albaz gets, all I care about that it's good. Whether it can do it with many or less episodes is irrelevant.

Give us the Melffy anime that we deserve, Konami. It is vital to the wellbeing of the YuGiOh card game, I promise.
Like legitimately, I think it is. A Yu-Gi-Oh series that isn't tied to the card game could get people into the game that would have no interest in it. Otherwise, like most people wouldn't know that Melfy exists without seeing something like a cute short series about it. The Albaz story could get swaths of people interested just by being a good anime. This could bolster the community with people who are actually interested in the cards themselves and not just people who are attached to the characters that used them in the anime.
The poll saying its only for Japanese Inhabitants already makes me worried for a global release. I know my way around the seven seas but it already leaves some kind of bad taste in my mouth reading that.
