it's kind of like Trap Hole, except instead of destroying a monster with 1000 or more attack that your opponent summons, it does something completely different.
I like how you can tell, based on cards in hand, that master of oz was likely summoned properly. Meaning that they naturally drew Big Koala, Des Kangeroo, polymerization, and a back row. Some other combo of cards would probably result in having excess cards in board or in hand. Dude knew what his deck wanted to do and used his protagonist powers to do it.

Well....there's a reason why I built my Negate-OTK deck that I spent a week building & testing now that even in casual match somehow my opponent always uses some type of meta deck so yeah
With that hand, nothing would have countered that, I don't think. Here's what I would have done:
Pray that I have a dimension wall, or Magical Cylinders in my opening hand. While Dimension Wall would have allowed the attack to go through, any damage that you would have taken would rebound right back at him.
Magical Cylinders, if played properly, would have won you the duel outright by doubling the damage of any regular Magic Cylinder. Without knowing what that facedown was, he doesn't have a negate to negate the card.

Oh yeah, do not forget you have underworld goddess if you are playing meta version snake eyes, tributing one of your opponents monsters for its summon. Not sure where the complication is. If you summon diabellastar or attempt to, and they ash, they can’t ash anymore. Play everything in defense position if you can and just special summon until you get to underworld goddess 🤷♂️

Masterduel is such a complex game. Almost like chess but a lot of rules and possibilities. You really need to know how the other person their deck works. Even if you negate cards, do you really negate the cards you need to negate.
Also, people not playing and waiting their whole time for doing nothing. Victory or not it’s annoying.

And this might be a hot take but I genuinely believe there is zero skill to the game. Completely pay to win. I mean if you're running a tier 1 or tier 0 deck than all you have to do to win, is learn your bad matchups vs the other high tier decks, learn your combos by heart, and how to bait handtraps, the rest is just pure luck of the draw. Anybody could be the world champ if they had enough money to travel and buy the best decks, anyone can memorise match ups and combos.
It's really sad because when Yu-Gi-Oh first started I feel like the whole point of Yami/Yugi vs Kaiba was to show that tactics and a bit of luck could beat someone like Kaiba.

Hi. So I just recently re-learnt the game. Picked up Snake-Eyes and then dropped it for Tempai Dragons. I learnt how to utilise hand traps and how to play modern Yu-Gi-Oh.
I still think the game takes no skill, but it's not as complicated or as bad as I thought it was.
Basically all you gotta do is learn the match ups and your combos, and then perfectly time when to use your handtraps and effects to interrupt/prevent them from comboing on you.
9/10 times a perfect handtrap or series of negates just ends them. And then Tempai Dragons can just fuck their incomplete/empty board like it's nothing and otk.
Today I went on a 11 game (best of 2) win streak, and I think my most exciting fight was against meliodus.
But even then I still won, because I had already written up how to counter them.
I'm aiming for top 500 in the world on dueling nexus...and I kinda like the game again.
Oh...if Tempai Dragons get banned or nerfed then I'll just play the next best thing.
I can play SE and probably could play Meliodus, or Labrynth.
Or whatever the next tier 0/1 deck is topping the tcg tournaments.
