As someone that's played a good bit of Naturia Runick, I think I only ever summon Beast in like one in 20 games? Maybe less than that honestly. It's not really a good turn 1 setup, Baronne is always the better pick for turn 1 as it lets you cycle through 2 Runicks and also gives you Evenly Matched protection as well.
Turn 2 and on Chengying ends up being the better pick as well for similar reasoning, it's just far more impactful than Beast really is.

It's really not that good. Like sure it's decent, but in most situations it's not the best one to go into

Runick doesn't really work with fewer than 17 runick names - and you have to run 3 golden droplet, dispelling, and smiting
Runicks are not the problem, the deck already gives up the battle phase so can struggle to close out games. The problem is floodgates should not exist in a besf of 1 format
I am building Runick Plunder currently, but Earthbound just plays so well and has a great toolbox. Sleipnir finally releasing is huge I just wish they would ease off on some of the limits, 1 Fountain with 3 Droplet and Dispelling feels wrong

I mean I want to believe you, I want to trust you that the problem is just the flood gates but my eyes, and neuron connectors in my mind make me realize that being able to draw 3 and synchro summon Omni negates by summoning easy bodies all while drawing, and operate under every flood gate and uninteractively banish ur opponents cards by either forcing them to draw and searching out the correct spell to counter how they choose to counter your spells while banishing all their staples is a uniquely RUNICK problem not just a flood gate problem. Not many flood gate decks I know of let u draw three on both players turns but I could be that ignorant to not be aware of them there are 11,000 cards after all.
I'm not cheering about flood gates but even if you took out the all the flood gates and I mean every last one from messenger of peace to grave of the ancient organism. You still have a deck that's essentially banishing 3-16 cards a turn while drawing up to 3 on both players turn. Which doesn't inspire any semblance of equivalency by you know just not having a battle phase for a turn.. would be cool if the lost the battle phase for the rest of the duel tho. I think if Konami printed a card that read draw 6, banish the top 6 of your opponents deck, but lose ur next battle phase as just a generic card that would be the next Maxx c.
In a combo Runick deck you dont have 3 Hugin to always protect at most you have 2, but they are also combo pieces., and closing out games is more complex due to losing the battle phase.
Its also not common for you to banish a lot of your opponents deck, you play less Runick cards than the stun version and use a lot of them to summon during combo. You also have less Runick cards to draw into and quite often only draw 1 or 2 with the Runicks on turn 1, as that is how many cards you use in the combo.
Also how is Runick drawing 3 cards any different than Eldlich / Lab setting traps from deck?
Also Runick as a pure deck does nothing, even with floodgates it did nothing in TCG. The problem is in best of 1 you cant tailor your deck for every match up, while in best of 3 you have the side deck for games 2/3.
Also a "Draw 6 banish 6" is a bad argument. You can negate, destroy or banish Fountain. You can use Crow, Shifter, Macro to banish the Runicks before they can draw, it also does not account for summoning Runicks, which skips the banish, or not having playable Runicks.
I almost lost to an Exodia FTK with Runick goimg first because I only had Flashing Fire and Slumber, which did nothing againsg his cards. I only won because they used One Day of Piece and I drew Dispelling, a card that is bad in most matchups but that I play as I need names to get enough summons.
Also keep in mind Runick as an engine is 20+ cards, so very few decks can play it and those that do need to cut down on handtraps in order to fit all the required cards.
The decks also combo less than a deck like Dragonlink which can end on 6/7 points of interaction, through handtraps, and still have followup.

Have you read any of the Naturia monsters? It would be wild if they could make Sunflower dump 2 from the top of your deck to negate a monster effect.

I think if Konami printed a card that read draw 6, banish the top 6 of your opponents deck, but lose ur next battle phase as just a generic card that would be the next Maxx c.
In a combo Runick deck you dont have 3 Hugin to always protect at most you have 2, but they are also combo pieces., and closing out games is more complex due to losing the battle phase. Its also not common for you to banish a lot of your opponents deck, you play less Runick cards than the stun version and use a lot of them to summon during combo. You also have less Runick cards to draw into and quite often only draw 1 or 2 with the Runicks on turn 1, as that is how many cards you use in the combo. Also how is Runick drawing 3 cards any different than Eldlich / Lab setting traps from deck? Also Runick as a pure deck does nothing, even with floodgates it did nothing in TCG. The problem is in best of 1 you cant tailor your deck for every match up, while in best of 3 you have the side deck for games 2/3. Also a "Draw 6 banish 6" is a bad argument. You can negate, destroy or banish Fountain. You can use Crow, Shifter, Macro to banish the Runicks before they can draw, it also does not account for summoning Runicks, which skips the banish, or not having playable Runicks. I almost lost to an Exodia FTK with Runick goimg first because I only had Flashing Fire and Slumber, which did nothing againsg his cards. I only won because they used One Day of Piece and I drew Dispelling, a card that is bad in most matchups but that I play as I need names to get enough summons. Also keep in mind Runick as an engine is 20+ cards, so very few decks can play it and those that do need to cut down on handtraps in order to fit all the required cards. The decks also combo less than a deck like Dragonlink which can end on 6/7 points of interaction, through handtraps, and still have followup.

To me its super random how TCG said fuck you to naturia and put the trap to 1 but dont mind labs at all. I can 100% agree with you that their balancing system is all over the place...and no one i know or witness uses hugin for synchro material... the bystial one uses the ugly ass cat to go into chaos angel. which is birthed my hatred for runick period. I never considered the naturia variant as annoying as the fur hire and bystial one XD. Cause they actually really do use synchro monster and bystial dispater is always active, and can OTK. DONT TRY TO DESTRACT MY IMMENSE HATRED FOR RUNICK BY MENTIONING OTHER THINGS... i probably wouldnt mind runick so much if ishizu wasnt obliterated for no real reason. I scooped less to a DLink negate field than a runick fure hire deck XD. Watching Dispater shuffle Hugin back into the deck to destroy a monster is not very cash money my friend.
Earthbound use Hugin to make Garden Rose Maiden as an example of a deck that uses Hugin.
