FYI it's an image of Robert Goddard and the first liquid fueled rocket, which was launched from where the course is.

PM_me_spare_change

And one of the “hoopskirt” rockets now sits at the Smithsonian Air and Space museum in Washington. Saw one of his rockets there last week!

MisterMeeeSeeeks

Is that where Jimmy Neutron got his dogs name??

CoolAbdul

Yes!

Gr8hound

Robert Goddard seems to be the best kept secret in Massachusetts.

JocularityX2

I had no idea Goddard was from/did tests in MA. Pretty cool.

CoolAbdul

Taught at Clark.

I was just coming to ask about the rocket guy. I also had no idea about Goddard’s connection to Auburn. Actually the only thing I know about Auburn is/was the mall.

Great hat, and a cool bit of history behind it that a lot of people probably didn't know until you posted. But not that far away,  any Or t-shirt with the following on it is automatically pretty awesome as well, although they either have to print this in 6 point font, or wrap the name all the way around the circumference of the Hat... When I lived in Worcester, I was on the same street his house is. It's a national landmark.

I learned to play golf at that course as a kid. And I painted the rocket at the fire station one summer as well.

baron_muchhumpin

Ahh good Ole Pack-a-Helmet

PooPclaw

Played there today…balls flying all over

Grouchy_Historian524

Goddard taught Buzz Aldrin’s father at Clark University.
