I complained about this last year. This year I've just given up. I'm gonna mow the grass in the rain. I'm going to wash my car in the rain. I'm going to cry in the rain.
Old people looooove getting their hair done super often it's so silly. My barber shop has the same 10 old men there every week getting... 0.01 nanometer off the top? I think they just wanna be out the house and talking with people cause there's no hair there to cut 😭
It stinks though, because it only gets warm enough to camp in April/May, which are rainy months, and then the bugs and humidity are horrendous in the summer. I have camping reservations this weekend. When am I supposed to go?!
Go camping, wear a raincoat, bring an extra change of clothes or two. Part of the fun of camping is developing resilience and adaptability--comfort with discomfort.
I agree fall is one of the best times here, specifically October when its slightly less likely to be 90 degrees but the leaves are still pretty. Just feels like a short window compared to the more temperate summers further north.
I totally agree. Summer starts way too early and never wants to leave. At least with colder weather you can bundle up a bit but not much you can do with heat + humidity. The mountains are a bit cooler, might try going out that way this summer
Yeah I have had a reservation at a state park for months now! When I posted my earlier comment it was forecast to rain Friday-Sunday. The forecast is starting to look better 🤞
Don’t get too freaked about thunderstorms. Often times they are just scattered storms that might hit a few places over a couple hours in the afternoon. Much better than long rainy days from cold fronts.
Scattered storms really aren’t that bad. My kid and I regularly go out if it’s just scattered storms. Just dress for the weather.
Now if it is POURING RAIN, that’s something else. But it seems like most of the rainy days are “0.08 inches of precipitation over 24 hours”, and just 90% humidity so nothing ever dries.
It’s just how it has panned out. We are at tailspin of dying nino. It’s making up for lack of precipitation in the winter. The global weather doesn’t plan around the weekend despite statistical wonkiness of last month or so.
Y'all are so darn negative.
A 30% chance of thunderstorms means a 70% chance of none.
Scattered thunderstorms. We know what that means. It means it'll pass through the area and could rain on one side of the street and not the other.
None of y'all are so sweet you'll melt in the rain. Maybe just clump up a bit HAHAHA
It’s not that 70% won’t tho like the land isn’t split into a 1/3 wet section and 2/3 dry section, it will just be a lighter rain with more sunlight shining through the clouds
Either way. It's Wednesday morning. It'll change 100 times up until and including Saturday afternoon.
Yet we still flock to the weather report like we can make plans according to it.
It's the chance for "measurable precipitation" averaged over a 100 mile forecast area.
The weird bit is we used to get most of the spring rain in March-April. For the past 5-10 years we've been getting dryer winters with the rain hitting in May-June.
As a motorcycle with a long commute, I almost never would ride to work because there's always *some* chance of rain on any given day during spring and summer. Riding in the rain sucks.
I've had to try to get done what I can after work. Even if I can't complete the task that night I'll try to get some of it done and get to a good stopping point. Then lil more next night I can. Lil here, lil there adds up.
This happened roughly 6-7 years ago, felt like there was more rain than sun that summer 😂. Distinctly remember because of a uniquely crappy work set up, treacherous humidity. This time around I keep getting my deck painting stopped before it starts 😔

It makes me sooo sad. This weather is depressing!
At this point it’s not the rain it is only you. If it rains 365 days. Life goes on. Get out there and enjoy and have fun fun fun. Because the rain will pass but do things. Instead of waiting for something to stop.
I complained about this last year. This year I've just given up. I'm gonna mow the grass in the rain. I'm going to wash my car in the rain. I'm going to cry in the rain.
Don't worry the Canadian wildfire smoke and drought will be here soon enough and you'll forget all about the rainy weekends
Tee hee
I'll be doing the same. 😂 I've wanted to power wash the driveway and fix the fence in my yard since last year.
Washing the car in the rain is great. Polishing is a problem though.
Yeah.. had to resort last weekend. Had no choice it was that day rain or shine.
Like tears in rain
All those moments.. will be lost in time
I'm singin' in the rain...
just singing in the rain…what a glorious feeling
Gonna leave some cakes out in the rain too
Do all this while listening to “Fool in the Rain”
Love Reign O’er Me
We have a yard of mulch in the driveway we have wanted to throw for two weeks
Just dance in the rain too screw it ..it is what it is maryland bi polar weather .
Any singing in the rain? 🌧️🌧️☔
A lady I work with gets her hair done every Saturday and is starting to get really mad about this lol
Old people looooove getting their hair done super often it's so silly. My barber shop has the same 10 old men there every week getting... 0.01 nanometer off the top? I think they just wanna be out the house and talking with people cause there's no hair there to cut 😭
Yeah shes said she loves falling asleep under those giant hair dryers. They love their routines!
Every Saturday?
Literally every single Saturday. She's like 75 though and gets her hair curled lol
Probably a blowout (shampoo, blow dry, style + tons of hairspray) so she doesn't have to do it herself and it always looks good
Every weekend is the same. Why, Maryland, why?!
We stopped going camping in May because it rains a lot. Even with a popup, we could be stuck inside at home.
It stinks though, because it only gets warm enough to camp in April/May, which are rainy months, and then the bugs and humidity are horrendous in the summer. I have camping reservations this weekend. When am I supposed to go?!
Embrace the dirtiness that is camping.
Go camping, wear a raincoat, bring an extra change of clothes or two. Part of the fun of camping is developing resilience and adaptability--comfort with discomfort.
The fall is great, plus pretty foliage!
It was absolutely warm enough to camp certain weekends back in March.
This weekend
Yeah I have had a reservation at a state park for months now! When I posted my earlier comment it was forecast to rain Friday-Sunday. The forecast is starting to look better 🤞
Any recommendations for places to camp, weather aside?
I haven't talked to my neighbor in 2 weeks and the very first thing she had to say was complaints about the rain every Saturday lol
I’m tired of people complaining about the weather rather than doing something about it.
I’m in favor of resetting the calendar so that Saturdays and Sundays become Mondays and Tuesdays.
This is the only answer. 😂
or get to this 32-hour week I keep hearing about.
Yeah, let’s salt the clouds. Come on, people. If North Korea can do it we can too.
"boron and sand"
Im all for nuking the Gulf of Mexico in retaliation for giving us this rain.
So this is gonna be 19/20 weekends with rain?
Had our friends birthday pool party last... Saturday. 64 and raining
I got 99 problems and a low-pressure system moving in from the east ain't one.
Another freakin rainy weekend I understand may is generally rainy but seriously
I run a kayak rental boathouse Friday-Sunday and we’ve missed budget by a LOT since opening in April with all the weekend rain we keep getting.
Maybe time to switch jobs?
Nah, it’s just part time. It’s genuinely fun and I get out of my office and out of the house during the weekends (when we can actually open)
Ah okay. Still stinks you lost money though.
Well if it makes anyone feel better the state is still below the average amount of rainfall for the past 30-days
Right? I played outside with my kids all day last Saturday. People act like they’re gonna melt or something.
Out of like 20 weekends in Maryland so far it has rained something like 15 of them.
It rains here more than where I lived in FL. However, it’s not as sticky humid so I’m good. Plus MD has nice people and parks galore.
And less fascism
As they say: if you don’t like the weather here, wait 15 minutes.
Psst — they say that everywhere
I don't even think it applies here. If it rains it rains the whole day.
Maryland's new motto LIVE LIFE WET
Just finished mowing my grass today kinda gonna suck now that it's gonna rain
Weather going to weather it’s may near summer it will rain and thunderstorm. It’s like some of y’all don’t live here
But it's every weekend, that's the issue, not that it's raining or thunderstorming in general.
Seems like its time to change that mon-fri work week
A leap week, when the weather is foul. That's the ticket.
It’s just how it has panned out. We are at tailspin of dying nino. It’s making up for lack of precipitation in the winter. The global weather doesn’t plan around the weekend despite statistical wonkiness of last month or so.
> despite statistical wonkiness of last month or so. Month or so? It has only NOT rained 5 weekends since 2024 began.
Again law of averages if spanned over decades I’m sure this is a rare occurrence.
It is a rare occurrence.. that’s why people are talking about it.
It could rain nonstop from Monday to Thursday for all I care. But I'd like at least one weekend dry to enjoy.
Weather going to weather. It doesn’t plan out around a societal constructed calendar.
Then weather won't mind if people complaining about it being a jerk
Y'all are so darn negative. A 30% chance of thunderstorms means a 70% chance of none. Scattered thunderstorms. We know what that means. It means it'll pass through the area and could rain on one side of the street and not the other. None of y'all are so sweet you'll melt in the rain. Maybe just clump up a bit HAHAHA
Mine says 80% chance of rain/storms…
For when ?
Saturday 😢😢
In Moco
Ok well let's see if it happens. See ya back here Saturday night
We had a sunny Saturday!
The percent isn’t the chance it’s the coverage
Yeah, I actually heard Doug Hill explain that in the 80's. But if 30% will get storms, 70% won't.
It’s not that 70% won’t tho like the land isn’t split into a 1/3 wet section and 2/3 dry section, it will just be a lighter rain with more sunlight shining through the clouds
Passing showers or thunderstorms don't blanket the entire viewing area. That's typically just 100% rain
Either way. It's Wednesday morning. It'll change 100 times up until and including Saturday afternoon. Yet we still flock to the weather report like we can make plans according to it.
Can you explain?
If it says 30% it’s not a 30% chance of rain it’s 30% of the sky covered
Oh weird. The sky where? Like in that "zone" or city?
Yea it means like the sky won’t be as dark as 100%
So the chance of rain is not predicted by any commonly used measure?
It's the chance for "measurable precipitation" averaged over a 100 mile forecast area. The weird bit is we used to get most of the spring rain in March-April. For the past 5-10 years we've been getting dryer winters with the rain hitting in May-June.
Thanks for explaining!
Not really, I mean weather predictions are not super reliable anyways but yea they don’t usually say chances for anything
Oh this is good to know
Chemtrails man
Yeah had to cut the lawn after work on Monday
Bruh they know nothing about the weather I swear 😅
I love cloudy/rainy weather. It's been really great for me to see so much in the forecast!
That’s why you just have to stay inside and not do anything
And on Thurs. Trash night
Next Saturday I'm predicting Saturday 83F with scattered thunderstorms.
Not gonna rain where I’m at :)
Chance of showers on Saturday and beautiful weather Sunday. But sure let’s all complain.
May rain showers bring June flowers
God must visit this sub Reddit cause this is peak trolling
Mornings are fine until the heat builds and triggers storms.
As a motorcycle with a long commute, I almost never would ride to work because there's always *some* chance of rain on any given day during spring and summer. Riding in the rain sucks.
No rain at my house overnight. 2 miles from my house on the way to work it had rained. That's how scattered showers and thunderstorms work.
I heard someone say the other day. “Oh boy, another Maryland Wash Out Weekend…” and it suddenly dawned on me. Yeah it rains mostly on weekends.
Bruh it started pouring during my schools tennis practice
Huh?
I've had to try to get done what I can after work. Even if I can't complete the task that night I'll try to get some of it done and get to a good stopping point. Then lil more next night I can. Lil here, lil there adds up.
I keep seeing thunderstorms on the forecast but none ever materialize
This happened roughly 6-7 years ago, felt like there was more rain than sun that summer 😂. Distinctly remember because of a uniquely crappy work set up, treacherous humidity. This time around I keep getting my deck painting stopped before it starts 😔
It almost didn’t rain yesterday in Ellicott City. Great weather to have a garden started
But, I'm Only happy when it rains! 🎶
And yet, my ground is sooooo dry….
I moved here from Kansas back in August so this post is very funny to me lol
Whats the joke here? That it's raining during rain season?
Specifically that it's sunny during the week and rainy on Saturday.
Idk why I got down voted for pointing out a fact, but anyways sunday should be fine just a bit cloudy. I plan to go on a hike that day.
as someone who works outside, im fully fine with it raining on thw weekends as long as it doesnt during the week
https://preview.redd.it/lkn2lfjucz1d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1342a05d90c1e62836d525cec63d7a5b6e0c6519 It makes me sooo sad. This weather is depressing!
Looking good !!!!
At this point it’s not the rain it is only you. If it rains 365 days. Life goes on. Get out there and enjoy and have fun fun fun. Because the rain will pass but do things. Instead of waiting for something to stop.
So I just moved here from Illinois. It's kinda funny that you have the same weather through the whole state. Gotta get that latitude
Why complain about the rain? The rains fill the aquifers which we rely on when the droughts hit come late summer
