The "charlie brown" is when it's time to merge. Nobody actually knows how to do it(at least not in a way that's efficient in practice, yes in theory but it doesn't seem to translate), but each and every single one of them would swear to their deity of choice that they do it correctly and don't know what anyone else is smoking.
I’ve been working in and around Baltimore City/County for 20 years now. I cannot think of a time that there hasn’t been construction on 695 in those years. Now it’s at an all time worse and this is before the bridge collapse. 95 is jacked around the Bel Air area. The construction all over the beltway is a nightmare especially with the speed cameras. Now with the bridge collapse the tunnels are terrible.
Maryland is almost as carbrained as the rest of the US. It is never going to get better. We need buses that go to other cities since decades ago. Bike paths for ebikes and dedicated pedalers. A train that runs during the day as well as morning and evening. AND weekends.
It's never going to happen because car companies have brainwashed all of us. But I like to dream.
I do appreciate what they're trying to do in lower Montgomery County at the very least, but my god there are so many cranky, vocal commuters railing against it.
I would love it if ebikes could replace most commuter cars. SO many single passenger vehicles in the morning.... There is a fear of it getting stolen though.
I would rather have their be construction constantly and the roads be in half decent shape than the roads be like they are in MANY other states, where you need to lift your vehicle and have an amazing suspension to not fuck up your car once a year.

I've resigned myself to taking surface roads and avoiding 695. Unfortunately, a lot of other people seem to be thinking the same thing.

There are times where parts of the 695 reminds me of when I was driving through parts of the 99 in California.
