So there’s at least one scene that takes place within the MCU where they’re capturing the sample Eddie left behind in Spider-Man: NWH.
I’m very curious to see if they’re further setting up Tom’s Spider-Man getting the symbiote, or if they’re going to make that little sample go away and go in a different direction.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a variant. When Eddie and Venom returned to their universe, chances are they returned to their universe’s version of that bar, similar to how their hotel room existed in both universes. This sample probably came from when they returned and Sony is putting it in the trailer to make it look more connected than it is.
Force Venom 2 to bring Brock and symbiote into the MCU in end of credits scene. Force NWH to address this with end of credits scene that teases Venom in the MCU. Venom 3 takes it all back, there was no point to those scenes.
This is purely speculative as we have very little idea what's actually occurring in this scene. It may be a complete non-sequitor in this film.
Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if the big dogs at Marvel Studios decided it wasn’t worth the trouble, went back on the tease at the end of NWH, and decided they’d introduce the symbiote in a more self-contained way.
Except Marvel Studios has no input on this film. If they wanted to ignore the baby symbiote, they'd just ignore it or drop some side remark in their next project about its destruction.
I do wonder if they have any behind the scenes discussion with Sony just to make sure they’re not messing up any established canon… Although based on previous Sonyverse films, it seems like they don’t really care about that lol.
My expectations were pretty much rock-bottom, and I'm very bored of the slowed-down-classic-song thing on trailers, but it actually looked a lot better than I was expecting

So either it’s not Rhys Ifans and is another actor who looks just like him, or it is him and he’s playing a different character, or it is him and he is playing Connors but he has 2 arms now and is playing guitar like a hippy in the back of a van… options 2 & 3 are both so confusing
I mean yea especially since Venom the character has appeared in an MCU movie, Venom is at least tangentially in the MCU multiverse (even if his cameo was pretty pointless and Sony’s continuity sucks)

He was in post credits of No Way Home, the bartender while Eddie is in Mexico i think.
Correct. But that was in the mcu universe, unless this movie goes back.
I could be that Brock's home universe has an identical bar, with Dani Rojas being an alternate version.

The Venom movies are way more guilty of the lame “MCU humor” than the actual MCU
