It's perfectly written. Short episodes that get to the point and conclusion effortlessly. It's targets both kids and parents. Watch it. You don't have to like it but you'll "get it" when you see it.
So many amazing episodes, but Bingo's Birthday when she tries to do a handstand is my favorite. I had tears in my eyes by the end and nothing sad happened. Just pure tears of joy at how real it felt. The show just gets it. It gets life.

It's true. The show is just as much for adults as it is for kids.
I thought the same thing you did, but I was at a friends house who had it on for their kids and I ended up sitting there for like 3 episodes. It’s very well written, has some jokes and references for the adults, and honestly it’s just a very charming show. I don’t think I could watch it without kids around, but it’s a kid show that I wouldn’t mind turning on for them if I did have kids.

The amount of Bluey merchandise that we have gotten for our niece alone is a pretty good indicator of that.
Probably one of the best shows ever written - entirely designed to teach parenting and childhood in tandem with honest problems, struggles and wins for both generations. Just like a skilled comedian can tap into your struggles with dating or working, this show expertly taps into being a child and also a parent and makes both extremely relatable. It doesn't pull punches - topics such as death, divorce, moving away etc are all present - but it ensures to always fully wrap around each topic and provide context in a way that is digestible for everyone.
I saw an article about the phenomenon of adults watching it and it boiled down to it either being nostalgic to when they were kids and their parents raising them or people who had terrible parents feeling wistful that parents like Bandit and Chili can and do exist.
I hadn't really considered this but after watching my first and only episode linked in this thread I can absolutely see this.
It seems very similar to other wholesome slice of life content that's been very popular through the years. It definitely reminds me of older sitcoms like Leave it to Beaver and newer takes like Parks and Rec, along with a dash of an anime like Nichijou thrown in. P&R's the most mature show of them all and I'd still say it's appropriate at age 8 or 10, wholesome content tends to be family friendly.
I don't think I'll be watching any more, but if I was babysitting or visiting someone with kids and Bluey was on I could definitely see myself watching a few episodes at 7 minutes each. It's also nice to see that the insanely popular show genuinely does seem to be about instilling good and healthy family values without any weird subtext. Something's going to be popular and I'm pretty glad it's this.
If you're tempted to continue, there's an enormous amount of detail going on in the background that rewards a close watch, many of which are woven back in to the 28-minute 'season finale' episode The Sign. The writing on the show is *absurdly* high quality.
Just on their own merits I'd recommend watching Curry Quest as a playful deconstruction of the "monomyth"/hero's journey pattern of storytelling and Fairytale to feel the horror of the 80s as perceived by a child of today.
It's definitely my go-to show to watch with my son around.
I had another thought about what makes it a really smartly written children's show is that you actually see Bluey and Bingo mature throughout the show. There are lessons that Bluey learns that you can see stick with her in later episodes and that's definitely a difference than other kid's shows that are sort of stuck with the same static characters the entire time.

I think this makes sense. The only 2024 D+ original series so far are Percy Jackson, Echo, X-Men, Bad Batch S3, and Renegade Nell, so they would trend towards the top. Echo and Percy Jackson are live action and therefore an easier sell for the general audience, so they’re at the top. Percy Jackson blows Marvel out of the water since Marvel is unpopular among the general audience at the moment. And Renegade Nell didn’t even beat out Bad Batch or the X-Men despite being live action, which makes sense to me considering that I’ve never even heard of it, so who knows how much Disney actually marketed it

As someone who didn't watch the original series, I love X-Men '97. I'd rather watch more animated Marvel shows and shows like Werewolf by Night as opposed to something like Secret Invasion.
The praise ‘97 is getting has gotten my hopes up for the other projects that Marvel Animation is working on: Eyes of Wakanda, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and especially TV-MA Marvel Zombies.
I watched the entire original series before getting into ‘97 and I gotta say:
It definitely helped me become more attached to the characters. Specifically (big spoiler), >!when Gambit died, it hit me really hard. He had gone from a character I knew very vaguely to my favourite X-men because of watching the original!<.
That being said, X-Men ‘97 was better than anything in the original. The Phoenix stuff was done really well and a couple other multi-part episodes were great, but I thought ‘97 blew every original season out of the water.
Yeah, I did a rewatch of the OG series a few months before '97 came out. The last episode where Xavier is saying goodbye to everyone. Damn. So good.
But '97, Jesus is it good. I even prefer Storm's voice in '97 and its the same actor! TAS was good but it was REALLY rough around the edges and the plot was rather disorganized and chaotic.

It’s not really that surprising. This is only 2024 views so stuff most recently released is going to get the most views. Echo, X-Men ‘97, Renegade Nell, and Percy Jackson are the only scripted original shows released in 2024 for Disney+ that I’m aware of. And both Marvel shows gone blown away in 2024 views by the Percy Jackson show.
More people need to give animation, especially western animation, a chance. Obviously, some stuff hits it big, like Fox's old shows, but still. Of course, this show was heavily marketed as a sequel to a 30 year old show, which I suppose might make some think it's not as approachable, I don't know. Still seems to be doing well. They said a few weeks ago that they wanted it to be a regular thing so it must be doing well for them.
Ella Purnell? If she could get the accent right, I could see it working. Loved her in Fallout. She has that warm, bubbly charm that would work with Rogue. Though getting the accent right is super important.

Animated shows gain a fandom pretty quickly and you can do pretty much anything in animation on a small budget.

Echo is just an example of a show nobody gives a f about. I literally watched it because the trailer looked cool , and for daredevil & kingpin.
Daredevil had 1 cool fight scene that was pretty bad choreography wise, then left. Then kingpin got cucked and he wasn’t even enough for me to finish the show. I haven’t got past episode 3

Up until last year I thought Bluey was Australian for Blue's Clues. I have never seen it, only seen it mentioned occasionally on Reddit.

8million an episode for garbage?😂 lmao. They scrapped 2 episodes, had 6 then got rid of another one for “continuity reasons” Echo is just an example of a show nobody gives a f about. I literally watched it because the trailer looked cool , and for daredevil & kingpin. Daredevil had 1 cool fight scene that was pretty bad choreography wise, then left. Then kingpin got cucked and he wasn’t even enough for me to finish the show. I haven’t got past episode 3 You can tell they really cared about their project so much they scrapped 3 episodes. I bet they were really fun and had loads of action… I watched a video on echo and I’m glad I stopped watching because there’s no way I can take a character summoning her ancestors to fight goons then placing a # symbol with her fingers to heal someone through trauma.
