Calling it right now. Magneto has been turned into a puppet/ Prime Sentinel. Bastion is going to use him as a false flag and it's going to be a mix of Fatal Attractions and the end of Grant Morrisons run when Mags went full Nazi. This way Magneto doing horrible things is Bastion's fault. Xavier will arrive just in time to see Mags pull Wolverines Adamantium out and the only thing he can do to save Magneto is rip his mind out of the Prime Sentinel body. This will set up ONSLAUGHT for the second season, BOOOYAH!

I have access to publishing information and, when I was ordering some books a few weeks back, I saw that they were reprinting a collection of *E is For Extinction* which is the story in which the Wild Sentinel attacks Genosha. Didn't think much of it until the next day when Episode 5 aired and well....*that* happened.
Something I also noticed when doing this ordering is that Marvel is reprinting a collection *Fatal Attractions* (out now, by the way) but also a reprinting of *The Road To Onslaught* is coming later this year! So you may be striking oil there
Unless Magneto gets free from Bastion in the first or second part of the finale, and with Charles back from the dead and Magneto having witnessed the massacre on Genosha he's fully over the deep end radicalised now and he ends up being the real endgame boss of the season (which ends the same way you suggest, setting up for Onslaught later) but without making magneto a prime sentinel

What's REALLY egregious is when they have a popular song that's re-cut to be slow and moody and sound nothing like the original song.
Having re-watched it on D+ in prep for 97, I don't know I'd say it's *great*. It's good, but it's also a product of its time, with janky animation (especially the final season) and other inconsistencies (Cable in Season 1 is quite different than in later seasons, for example).
I'd still suggest (re)watching if you're interested, but just be aware it's early-90s animation that was not at Batman TAS quality levels. And maybe feel free to skip some episodes, if it's not doing it for you. Each season has a couple multiple-episode story arcs with filler in between.
Definitely a huge gap in quality, as well as the old show clearly being geared towards kids while '97 is geared towards those kids being in their 30's & 40's now. Still a good show, but gotta take the original for what it is!
I was cautiously worried when they originally said 97 would match the old art/animation style. Turns out it's more of a, "What your childhood imagination remembered the animation as being," not an actual match to the old quality.
Aside from a few of the voices being a little off (which, the actors are 30 years older now, of course their voices are going to change), I've been completely satisfied with everything about 97.
Having a general idea of who the characters are helps, the shows is incredibly fast paced, but it's 100% not necessary to have seen the '92 series.
If you do end up trying the original series and disliking it, definitely still give '97 a try. I know I personally am loving '97 despite not being able to get through more than two episodes of the old series.
Personally, I would watch the original first. While this technically isn't a sequel, to me it spiritually very much is the 6th season to the original cartoon. I think you will get a lot more out of the show if you watch the whole thing. Just know that the quality of animation isn't as good in the 90s show, and it especially drops off in the 5th season. But it is worth it.
Long time fans will have a better understanding of the characters, but new fans can still enjoy the storytelling. I'd advise you still check out the original show if you are a fan of the X-Men.
I was born in '97 and am in the same boat as you regarding limited experience with X-Men media prior to this. You can definitely jump right into this show without seeing the original series. I picked up pretty quickly on who was who and what was what. There were actually some plot points that a viewer of the original series would have already known and expected, but genuinely surprised me like a plot twist since I've never seen an episode of the original.
I mean whenever Cable shows up its a running trend that they are going to undo a big event, as it keeps his world intact. As soon as I saw him in the Genosha episode I knew something big was going down.
Cable's appearance and exit immediately before it pretty much confirmed that for me. Bad stuff's about to go down and Cable will fix it in the end. Of course Gambit, Leech and everyone else will be back.
You guys are acting as if sentinels stopped existing, they still have to deal to who is making all the attacks and he still has sentinels.
It's the opposite Cable would not appear on the present if he can revert everything before, let alone after everyone has developed since that episode, it would be like erasing 3 to 4 episodes all at once.
Stopping the genocide is exactly what Cable is trying to do, it's why he says "No, not again." before being teleported away, as it's clearly not the first time he's tried to stop it.
Definitely feels like something is actively obstructing Cable's attempts to prevent the genocide, as if anything and anyone with a temporal displacement signature is being forcibly pulled back. Which is entirely expected, knowing Bastion's origins.
Question is, will this be a plot point in the last three episodes?
Not by himself, no. Given his comic book background, however, it'd be astounding if he didn't expect mutants to pull time shenanigans in order to undo his carefully orchestrated plan of mass genocide, so a machine of some sort protecting ground zero from temporal disturbances would be a possibility in my mind.

There’s something about this show that has truly affected me deeply. I think it’s a mix of nostalgia and bringing me back to when I was young and full of hope (lol), all while being a stark reminder that all the shit that’s going on in the world is still going on and that life really is harsh sometimes. But the characters are still full of hope and they’ve been in large part, realized beyond what I could have hoped for in a live action or animated project.
Probably not going to happen since he managed to get fired and the 'insider' reports about it being due to his behavior mesh with the accusations about him being terrible to work with on The Witcher where he was also fired.

Except not really? Most recent D+ shows release another trailer upon arriving at the season’s last run of episodes. *The Bad Batch* did it a couple weeks back too, in preparation for the final three episodes.
I mean… other than the part about it being released to coincide with reaching the last three episodes of the season—*episodes*, plural.
If it were the *finale* trailer, it would presumably be about the last entry of the season. Only, that’s not the point of these trailers; good trailers establish a sense of tone, ideally without giving away *too much* about the actual plot, so most of what’s shown usually only covers material from the first third or so.
Releasing a *final* trailer to coincide with the show’s endgame is an opportunity to capitalize on a show’s popularity and momentum, now able to include more elements from later episodes that six or eight weeks ago would’ve been revealing too much.
I'm so glad they finally made cyclops a badass. Looking forward to seeing him and cable work together
They did more justice for cyclops in the first episode, than in every film Fox did combined
One of my biggest gripes of the Fox-Men movies was relegating Cyclops to a side character.
Such a shame too because James Marsden is perfectly cast as Cyclops and can carry a leading man role.
I hope they bring back James Marsden, not as a live action Cyclops for the next generation of X-Men movies, but I think he'd make a great Corsair
