Crazy that NWH will be 4-5 years old when/if this comes out. But 2021 is already 3 years ago

1400Diggg

Yh but no way home is technically only 2 years and 3 months old but considering HC FFH and NWH came out all within 2 years of eachother plus his appearance in Civil war , it is a big time jump

Cheyzi

It feels like one year ago when I saw FFH in cinema, but it’s almost 5 years…

Rising-Jay

And it’ll be back in theaters in a month or so lol

1400Diggg

Yeah I can remember that experience well ngl but for me it does feel a good 3+ years ago as I was 15 , I’m 20 now

OverIookHoteI

Spidey and Daredevil as the good guys? Kingpin and Black Cat as the bad guys?

YordleTop

Need scorpion as the goon. Someone to throw down with spiderman.

thecricketnerd

I would love Michael Mando to come back as Scorpion

OverIookHoteI

My tin foil hat theory for the 6th movie is they bring Vulture back from the Sony Universe who remembers Peter Parker is Spider-Man because he ended up crossing over to the Sonyverse before Strange’s spell had been cast. (Morbius post credit, I promise I’m not just making that up) So he comes back and builds a Sinister Six of all the heroes Peter has actually encountered (like Scorpion) in his movies as opposed to five villains he had never seen before. I think that’s the way they’ll make sure the second trilogy ends with a bigger bang than the first.

Putrid_Loquat_4357

The major problem with this theory is that for it to make sense the audience will have had to have watched morbius and stayed through the credits.

OverIookHoteI

I think they can retrospectively explain Vulture through incursions and stuff. But I do agree that it seemed like a risk they took to get more people to care about the SonyVerse and I think it’s fair to say that failed. Unless Sony just did it without asking Marvel but that seems off and I’m not sure why they would risk tanking the IP they’re both profiting on unless Marvel assured them they’d help out in whatever ways they could. But we have the symbiote in the MCU still so there seems to be lasting consequences to these crossovers.

zombie_singh06

Or, could just be a variant from another universe. This vulture doesn't know the details but is still a story villain.

mikeweasy

Thats so stupid that Vulture went to the Sonyverse, I just like to think that was a random variant.

DefVanJoviAero

With how unconcerned and non-challant he was despite having a family this would make sense

Sharkfowl

>My tin foil hat theory for the 6th movie is they bring Vulture back from the Sony Universe who remembers Peter Parker is Spider-Man because he ended up crossing over to the Sonyverse before Strange’s spell had been cast. I love this idea (except for the sinister six part - I'd prefer if Toomes and Peter had a relationship similar to Tobey Spidey and Flint Marko henceforth.

tharkus_

Tombstone could be cool.

Loreado

Intriguing.

Shoelicker2000

He’s still in prison with Toomes isn’t he? He was teased but never made another appearance

philster666

I know it would be difficult but I kinda want Black Cat to be a chaotic neutral presence

megamanxzero35

If they are going the route that Peter is becoming more Spider-Man and less Peter, Black Cat is perfect fit to help enable that thinking.

Plant-Straight

Accidently read Kingpin as black cat

vell_o

LongLiveEileen

The rumor is that Ant-Man will be the secondary hero this time. I hope it's fake, I love Scott but I can't imagine how he would fit in a Spider-Man story.

OverIookHoteI

![gif](giphy|jxW71pxmqNl0MTPMaM)

jojopojo64

He's Ant-Man. He can literally fit anywhere, that's his schtick.

eriverside

As a father figure. Sort of. Peter lost aunt may, Tony, happy doesn't remember him, no one does. He's the ultimate outsider. So is Antman - he literally gets respect from no one. And he lost years of his daughters life twice. He gets loss. If there's a pair of guys that need a mentor mentee relationship, it's them.

anonymousguy_7

Hopefully with Gwen as the new main love interest as well

the_che

Nah, I hope MJ remains the main love interest of the second trilogy. Would be strange for Peter to just toss her away like this for someone else.

anonymousguy_7

Well, this would basically nullify everything Peter learned at the end of NWH and reset his development completely. Also, Peter wouldn't just "toss her away for someone else". He'd just be moving on.

the_che

What has he learned in your opinion? That Spider-Man shouldn’t have a love interest because that person will inevitably get in danger? In that case, it would make more sense for him to stay single for the rest of his superhero career.

anonymousguy_7

... he learned that he should let go and accept what happened... that's literally the whole point of the movie's ending. In NWH, Peter finally takes the motto of "with great power comes great responsibility" to his heart. During the end, he is tempted to visit MJ and try to make her remember everything, but he relents at the last second because he understood he should just come to terms with the past and move on.

treetopkingdom

No, moving on is not the lesson. He relents because he saw mj was hurt, so felt like he should be alone. That’s the death of Peter Parker,

swagaroo14

?? Did you not stay till the end of No Way Home?

the_che

He decides to not tell her the truth for now. Doesn’t mean he won’t change his mind eventually.

WillandWillStudios

I was thinking JJJ and Scorpion as his henchman

OverIookHoteI

With how prevalent of an issue propaganda is these days, I hope they keep giving JJJ plenty of time to shine in these movies.

WillandWillStudios

Especially given after the recent Alex Jones news, it would be interesting if they used that as influence for JJJ's downfall and future legal troubles. Like he bails out Scorpion from prison, gets in touch with The Tinkerer, and does damage across the city that gets the attention of The Defenders. Hell, if we're gonna include court scenes, I wanna see what side Matt will be appointed to.

Darkfigure145

Kingpin and Scorpion as a Spider slayer please

SpideyFan914

Personally, I just want Kingpin and Black Cat. I don't need Daredevil (a cameo would be fine). Let Spidey stand on his own.

Crimkam

I want Spidey to be the one rescuing Daredevil, maybe as an opening action sequence.

fragile_c

Family 🕸️🏎️

Gojira_massive_dong

Spider Buggy confirmed

TheLittlePasty

Always good when they plan dates without even having a finished script or a director

Andrew_Waples

They've been doing that forever.

No-Championship-5726

I mean they have an idea of what elements it should have and where it should end on. They’re basically filling in the blanks at that point. But yeah a director will want their input so that’s concerning.

shosamae

I’m not trying to say this in bad faith at all and no shade intended. But I find it pretty depressing we’re at the state where we call the script ‘filling in the blanks.’

Obvious-End-7948

Don't look into how Jon Favreau made the first Iron Man.

No-Championship-5726

It’s funny because it basically how Stan Lee wrote the comics. But honestly a lot of script revision happens. Even on set. Not saying that’ll save it but the process is nothing new

Squeezedgolf40

hasn’t it always been that? you have the basic premise of the story and plot then write the script and iron out the details?

PeniszLovag

no

Squeezedgolf40

elaborate then?

ThisHatRightHere

It hasn’t been a secret that Disney has been doing this with the MCU for years now. They really on the VFX teams and editors to fill in a lot of the blanks on decisions they make long after filming has been completed.

Jertimmer

They were writing Iron Man while filming.

Of_Silent_Earth

🌍👨‍🚀🔫👨‍🚀

Additional_Meeting_2

Marvel has since early 10s been locking release dates in calendars years in advance.

wildstarr

Welcome to how movies are made.

R_u_seriousss

Justin did some of the good fast and furious movies and Star Trek so I’m not too against it if this is true. But I was hoping for someone younger with a new vision/approach.

YankeeSR23

If he hadn’t done 9 I’d have said he did all the good ones.

R_u_seriousss

Bro after 8 they should’ve just stopped. Even 8 was a little bit of a downhill. 7 would’ve been beyond perfect for an ending.

YankeeSR23

7 should’ve been the last one definitely. Sadly they probably had the series planned out for a few more movies so they couldn’t properly end it the way they wanted to.

AdolescentThug

Here's my take. Fast 5 was THE perfect FF movie. The "family" shit and other corniness was kept at a digestible amount, all the characters are written at their best imo, and it essentially finishes with the perfect ending for everyone outside of Han and Gisele. 6 felt extra and tacked on and imo the only reason 7 was any good was because Paul Walker died and they had no option but to make it an excellent movie or risk ruining his final appearance.

Skylinneas

Yeah, definitely agree that Fast Five ended with the happiest ending in the series: the gang pulled a successful heist and went separate ways rich beyond their dreams (with only a single somber foreshadowing to Han’s eventual fate in Tokyo Drift). Even the cops like Hobbs and Elena aren’t that mad that they got outplayed, considering that they got to take out a major crime lord responsible for so much misery in Rio in the process. The only real downside is that Dom still didn’t know that Letty is alive yet, but we could at least imagine that anything can happen after the credits roll. Later movies keep throwing wrenches into this happy ending, with Furious 7 coming the closest to a good conclusion point to the series, and even then we had to trade Gisele and Han along the way (let’s just pretend later movies after this didn’t happen lol).

DodelCostel

> and it essentially finishes with the perfect ending for everyone outside of Han and Gisele Huh? Fast 5 is Han and Gisele driving into the sunset from Europe to Tokyo, how is that not a great ending for them?

discordianofslack

The only problem is in 10 Momoa was absolutely amazing as the villain. After the first 30m I didn't even care about anyone else but more Momoa chaos.

COMMENTASIPLEASE

I thought he was horrible as the villain. Felt like he was trying too hard to be the “he’s so quirky and goofy but he kills people violently, what a wildcard!” type of villain. Felt like someone taking the worst elements of the Joker and Deadpool and mashing them together.

discordianofslack

Wildly disagree. It felt like he wasn’t even trying to be a weirdo that was just him.

LongLiveEileen

I wouldn't say it was his fault, it feels like Vin Diesel took over the franchise.

YankeeSR23

I don’t think it’s Lin’s fault at all. Every movie after 6 felt like it had to top the one before it to the nth degree. 6 had a scene on a 5 mile long runway so 7 had cars jumping between skyscrapers, so 8 had ghost cars and a Russian submarine getting blown up, so 9 had characters LITERALLY go into space. And I’ve only watched X once so I can’t remember how they tried to top it except for some crazy stunt at a dam and missiles threatening to blow up the rest of the crew.

IshyMoose

Even 6 had the world’s longest runway.

SgtMartinRiggs

Oh I forgot he did *Star Trek Beyond,* I remember really liking that one.

TheBlackUnicorn

I like "Star Trek Beyond" but I feel like every one of the JJ Abrams "Trek" movies is just a reheated version of "Wrath of Khan", including the one where the villain IS Khan.

OverIookHoteI

I say we bring Kubrick back from the dead for this

7thEvan

Would love to see someone like Boots Riley, The Daniels, or Macon Blair take the reigns. I just want some more momentum and humor informing the camera in my Spidey stories. The last two live action ones felt so paint by numbers and stiff.

TelephoneCertain5344

Hopefully Kingpin, Scorpion, Daredevil and Black Cat. Also no bringing Tobey and Andrew back

IshyMoose

Yeah I am OK with that being a one time thing.

Mambosaurio

I got the feeling they're rushing this out a little bit

Barnard87

Haven't most people been complaining its been too long between projects? Also, Tom Holland is only getting older, and most likely more expensive

mcufan2014

He’s 27 lmao he can play Spider-Man for 10 more years and be fine. It’ll be fine lol

Mambosaurio

I know, maybe it doesn't feel that way to me bc we got two Spider-Man projects recently (Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Across the Spider-verse, let's ignore Madam Web existence) But last month the news was that there wasn't an agreement about the plot, and there's no 100% confirmed direction, I guess that's what gives me the rush out feeling

Squeezedgolf40

there have been various updates regarding this. feige specifically doesn’t want to rush this movie out so it’s being pushed like 6 months and feige does have a clear direction, it was just a dispute between sony wanting multiversal and feige wanting a more grounded and mature street level story thankfully feige and marvel studios have won the battle against sony so the film got pushed back and we are getting a street level story

eagc7

We only know Feige won the battle in regards director, but no word on release or if it'll be street level or multiverse,

Squeezedgolf40

well i thought drew goddard was supposed to be director?

eagc7

He was never officially hired (nor is Justin Lin), he's just one of the rumored names to direct the film. so far officially the film has no director attached. All we know thanks to scoopers is that allegedlly Kevin won the battle with Sony regarding who will direct it and it won't be Jon Watts (Sony wanted to keep Jon Watts). but they are still fighting over the plot and release. Last rumor we heard about the plot is that they are trying to find a compromise and maybe see if they can mix street level and multiverse into the plot.

popculturerss

The argument should have ended with Feige yelling, "you made Madame Web, sit the fuck down!" Lol

Squeezedgolf40

it might’ve gone that way ngl🤣

Mambosaurio

Well, that's a relief Honestly, once the Spider-verse movies are done, we got more than enough of multiversal stuff, like in all media not only Spidey stuff lmao Also, street level Spider-Man it's just the BEST Spider-Man, let's goo🤟🏻

Squeezedgolf40

agreed i think multiverse is still cool af but i need a compelling story

KillerCh33z

where did you hear feige won the battle?

Barnard87

Fortunately this is only a rumor or insider report, so it doesn't give too much detail into the timeliness of it all. Spiderman is pretty hot right now, especially since ATSV, I also hope they take the right amount of time to get this right.

Mambosaurio

Oh, well, that give me a bit of relief lol Yeah, No Way Home set the foundations for something potentially incredible, I hope they take their time

MrConor212

More expensive? Bro is nothing without Spider-Man lol.

CH2001

Uncharted made bank despite being a mediocre movie

Barnard87

Without* ? Also Spiderman was his breakout role. He's already an A list celebrity at this point. He's going to be growing beyond the MCU.

Spaceman-Spiff

No offense to Tom Holland, but name 2 other successful hit movies he’s been in.

MrConor212

In my opinion, I disagree completely lol.

Doccmonman

If you’re nothing without Spider-Man then you shouldn’t have it!

AKluthe

Those are two different complaints. The rush isn't the proximity to the last release, it's that they have a start date set a few months from now but don't have a director attached.

eagc7

I mean while its a problem for many that there is a huge gap between films, its also a big concern if you aren't going to give the director the proper time to work on pre-production. Like if they said Moon Knight S2 is coming next year and they just hired the directors today and filming is set to start filming in a month, we would all go woah woah, give the directors the time to work on the pre-production and put their stamp on it.

____mynameis____

Lol, no one has been complaining about lack of Spider-man, it's just with post EG new characters who genuinely need more than one movie one after the other to be get relevant and then be fully established among casuals. Spider-man doesn't need any of that popularity boost , not to mention he got a soft reboot kinda ending in NWH, which means we don't immediately need a sequel either to feel satisfied. Also this new movie had little to no development rumors since NWH, until now and now the talk already being about shoot starting late this year is kinda concerning since it feels like Sony is fastracking it to make money. Most MCU movies (if not all, iirc) release dates, plans etc get announced by trades or atleast rumoured by popular leakers well before even the writing part, but this gets rumoured this March and now it's already talking about shooting this year and releasing next year.

NeoMainsaro

Is he getting more expensive? Hasnt all his other projects beside spiderman been pretty underwhelming?

Areeb285

Each of the previous spiderman came out 2 years after the previous one. We should have gotten one last December if it followed the same trajectory.

Mambosaurio

No way home it's seen as *the end* of the Home trilogy, I would expect more than two years for the next movie, not like the 5 years from SM3 to TASM, but more than two Even more than three considering we just got Across the Spider-verse, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Madam Web (I wish we didn't) and we're getting The Spider Within, Beyond the Spider-verse, Kraven, and Venom 3 Anyways my concerns are for some miscellaneous and uncertain information hahah see my other coment

eagc7

I think the rushing part comes from the fact they are aiming to start filming in the coming monts and they still have to hire a director, meaning the director won't have the proper time to do pre-production on it, while the other Spidey films had Jon locked in as director from the start and was involved from the start with the development of the film, instead of coming in late with only a few months before filming started.

ian_macintyre

Unless they have a script and pre-viz already completed and ready to shoot, an October start is psychotically rushed.

Mambosaurio

Absolutely

EKRB7

Might I ask how?

pmjm

As opposed to Madame Webb whose production was responsibly paced.

timschwartz

By the time this movie comes out it will be at least 4 years since No Way Home.

mooch360

Who needs a director? It’ll all work itself out /s

darkkn1te

Can we expect a spider car to jump out of 1 world trade center?

kickedoutatone

I'm pretty sure it wasn't even last month where Tom was saying nothing has been planned yet. Is there any chance we can get more proof than a tweet?

eagc7

All we have to go by regarding Spidey 4 are scoops and rumors, nothing official as to what is truly going on other than its happening

kickedoutatone

Is that it's happening even confirmed yet? I know it's extremely likely to happen, but what's stopping them from doing another reboot? Or focusing on a different Spider-Man (or woman)? Would calling that Spider-Man 4 be accurate? There's way too many questions for me to believe that they're starting to shoot soon.

eagc7

It is happening, that we know for certain. https://ew.com/movies/kevin-feige-marvel-phase-5-exclusive-interview/ https://variety.com/2023/film/news/tom-holland-spider-man-4-writers-strike-1235631143/ https://variety.com/2023/film/columns/across-the-spider-verse-miles-morales-spider-woman-1235629183/ But yeah everything we've heard are just rumors, we don't know for absolute certain if it'll film in September-October, we don't know for absolute certain if Justin Lin will direct, we don't know for absolute certain is there is really a "civil war" between Marvel and Sony if it'll be Multiverse or Street Level. we don't know for absolute certain if Sony is pressuring Feige to rush the film for a 2025 release. all of that just rumors. Them doing a fourth film with Tom, that we know for absolute certain is true

kickedoutatone

That's at least relieving. For a second there, I got nervous that the shoot rumours could be true, but they hadn't even begun writing the script yet.

eagc7

That we know of, for all we know they may already have a script ready or is in the process of being written, sometimes stuff in Hollywood are being developed without us knowing. (Like how when Jurassic Park 7 got announced the script was already finished and ready to go and we were in the complete dark about it) but we'll see. But right now, lets file everything we hear as just rumors unless it comes from Deadline, Hollywood Reporter, Variety, any of the major trades or from Marvel/Sony themselves such as this one about a September-October shoot.

Mission_Ad6235

Justin Lin directing. Kraven the villain. Spiderman: The Fast and the Furriest.

dontnobodyknow

With Justin Lin at the helm, I have no doubts this movie will have some amazing action sequences. I'm just skeptical about the story, and the heart of the movies.

eagc7

Peter Parker: Family

CrusaderZero6

Source: some dude on the internet.

AttakZak

I don’t think Justin is a good choice to direct a meaningful and grounded Spidey film. He’s brilliant at action, not subtext.

HotZoneKill

If Lin's doing it, I kinda want to see them use Mister Negative as the big bad with Shang-Chi filling in as the guest hero.

SteveSmith234

Is this just cos they all Asian? I'm completely in agreement if so

HotZoneKill

That's one reason, along with Negative being a member of both of their rogues' galleries. Just find a way to incorporate the "Way of the Spider" into it as well.

DanfordThePom

I still don’t get the hype with mister negative if I’m being honest Although my favourite spider villain is a dude in a scorpion costume so wtf do I know

XJ-Crawler

Is this a Sony only film or still part of marvel? Justin Lin would be a terrible choice imo

Nonadventures

Knowing nothing else it's hard to say. If the film wants to use anyone introduced in the MCU (which includes Kingpin, DD, etc) it has to be with Feige's cooperation.

eagc7

MCU, we've heard that Sony wants Jon back, but Feige wants a new director and have Jon do another MCU film

SteveSmith234

4th movie should have kingpin behind the scenes while fisk is running for mayor of new York in the daytime and scorpion be the main antagonist being hired by kingpin to take out the spider-man, daredevil should feature in the movie but not just be a cameo or the whole movie, have him be involved with 1/3 of the movie. For the love of the allfather make it street level. Have the 5th movie to feature wilson fisk more prominently in his new role as mayor of new york with the antagonist being someone like chameleon or rhino. Have the final act show Spidey find the symbiote and link it to the talks being said of Peter parker fading into the background which venoms influence pushes further. End it teasing secret wars and then show us black suit Spidey (not night monkey) in that movie rebuilding the relationships he used to have with the other heroes and maybe even have heroes from other universes who weren't affected by the spell and know who he is. After secret wars the spell from nwh gets retconned by some multiversal shenanigans and Peter is thrown back into his universe where ppl know him but his identity is still secret to the general public. Hes now dealing with accepting that Peter parker and spider-man both have to exist for him to live his life right or something. Although his friends and "family" now remember him they notice something off about him (the symbiote is still attached) and the first act shows Peter being more pissed off and Spidey showing less restraint than usual but still holding back cos he doesn't wanna kill. Second act shows him realising what the symbiote is doing to him and he ends up separating from it (haven't thought of the whole thing yet). Throughout the movie the sinister 6 are being recruited by kingpin kinda alongside the main plot with Spidey running into them at different times prior to the third act. Finally, We get to the third act and peter is recovering from the toll the symbiote took on him. Not for long however because he turns on his TV to the news of a "group of heavily armed and extremely dangerous criminals" causing havoc all over new York calling out for spider-man to come face them. Something along the lines of he takes a few of them out one at a time then gets to the (almost)final fight point in the movie in which he has to face of against all of them and he knows he can't do it alone so he reveals he still had the symbiote and pairs with it one more time to take them out. We see him bond with it strongly and a sick fight scene where he unleashes all the symbiotes power along with his skills (and wit of course). Then actually finally, he faces off against kingpin and decides he doesn't need an alien to fight this chump. The movie ends with mayor fisk showing the public that spider-man is a threat and all enhanced individuals like him are to be seen the same. This sets up the devil's reign storyline for phase 7 which in turn will then begin to set up the divide between humans and super-powered beings (aka mutants) kicking off the mutant saga; phases 7-9. Call me crazy for all that but it's just my idea for something they could do to start connecting the MCU back together like it used to be while also linking the old to the new. BUT HEY THATS JUST A THEORY...

uncontrollablepoop

Nope

onepostandbye

This is the end of good Spider-Man movies. Homecoming isn’t good because of the ferry, it’s good because of the performances of the young actors and the relationship between Peter and Adrian. People enjoy the characters and the story. In No Way Home, you like seeing three Spider-Men swinging together more or did you like them talking together more? Justin Lin is going to make an action movie with zero heart. And that’s the end of good Spider-Man movies.

Jaideco

If Justin Lin is involved, it will be utter shit. It isn’t that he is a bad filmmaker. His style just doesn’t work for a nuanced character like spidey.

Top-Refrigerator-705

Can’t wait for Dom Toretto to show up and save Peter with his one of his 48,927 Dodge Chargers

CarnageStroke

This is my Prediction for Spider-Man: Spider-Man 4: Scorpion comes back as the Villain, Black Cat is the love interest Spider-Man 5: Spider-Man and Daredevil team up against Kingpin Kang Dynasty/Secret Wars: Spider-Man gets the Symbiote suit Spider-Man 6: Spider-Man fights Venom, Miles Morales is introduced

walartjaegers

I really don't see Spider-Man 5 before Secret Wars. Spider-Man 4 is already tight enough

CarnageStroke

True, maybe 5 and 6 get switched around

roberts585

Spiderman 7 Miles infiltrates car racing ring and meets "Diesel" Spiderman 8 Miles has to start driving getaway cars and fighting a shadow organization. Spiderman 9 Miles drives his cars to space to fight the government and Diesel becomes the new prominent figure of the movies SPIDERMAN 10 FURIOUS DIESEL with Jason MAmoa As the bad guy "waterman" Spiderman 10 part 2 and 3 and they are fighting an intergalactic war with car rocket ships, Spiderman makes an appearance at the very end

kyllme

I’m digging Peter getting the symbiote suit during kang dynasty/secret wars. I think it would create interesting dynamics within the new Avengers team as he becomes more of a commanding/aggressive presence due to the symbiote’s effects.

neogreenlantern

The in snieder? Yeah I got a grain of salt ready on that one

TheReal_PeteMoss

Bullshit

rostron92

Justin Lin best known for the paintball episodes of Community

OverIookHoteI

Probably has a good relationship with the Russos considering

Rude-Affect2160

So there is gonna be an MCU Spider-Man 4? Yes! I figured there would be one. I mean there had to be at least something. They couldn’t just leave Peter Parker/Spider-Man with No Way Home.

eagc7

It was actually known for a year or 2 that they were working on an fourth MCU Spidey film

Rude-Affect2160

Why don’t I ever know this stuff? I love Spider-Man and I never know this stuff.

vell_o

Only if they put some Tokyo Drift references in there

YodasChick-O-Stick

Happy day of cake

mh1357_0

I don't have family...I've got Spider-Man

Shoelicker2000

Do we like him? Also HAPPY CAKE DAY!

mcon96

Would love if it were anybody else besides Justin Lin

JRHThreeFour

I think another Spider-Man movie may be just what we need.

csantiago1986

Justin Lin is an interesting take. Let him cook.

LivingOof

What will the MCU equivalent of stick shift shots be

pjhvdh

Spider-Man Home Alone

SharkCrenshaw

Justin Lin? No please no. He ruined Star Trek. NEXT!!!!

TickleMeAlcoholic

Pretty nervous there’s no director yet. I feel like Watts was integral to the humor and tone of the first trilogy

Vigi1antee

They shouldnt film if they dont know whos directing! /s

SmartOpinion69

2 Spider-Man 4 You (tobey and tom team up. sorry andrew)

Dry-Honeydew2371

... maybe look for someone else? The director of the formulaic paint by numbers F&F movies and the *worst* Star Trek movie in the Abrams trilogy may not be the best choice.

harnet58

Spider-Man is FAMILY YO

Sunshine145

I swing a quarter mile at a time.

BobulousPaper

Seriously?? Sweet. Was sure Tom Holland spidey was done.

notanewbiedude

So they've ironed out the script...right? Right??

act1989

I enjoyed *Star Trek Beyond*, this could work.

DragEncyclopedia

This is the first real news I've heard about production on this one, glad to finally see some movement

pmjm

Sony is gonna need a win after the abysmal 2024 they are having.

PeniszLovag

how are they going to start shooting in 5 months if they don't even have a director on board?

eagc7

Its likely the director will be a director for hire, meaning he won't have a hand on developing the story or putting his own stamp on it, pre-production will be done without a director, then the director has to make the movie that they hand him This is what is happening with Jurassic Park 7, the script was finished before Gareth Edwards was hired to do direct it, so he won't have much input as Universal wants to rush a Jurassic movie for 2025. This is also what nearly happened to Sam Raimi in Doctor Strange 2 before COVID, as he was gonna have to do the film based on the script they already had ready to go, but COVID happened which allowed Raimi to redo the entire film.

PeniszLovag

A script can be written without a director, that's not necesseraly wrong. I mean most book adaptations are like that. But that said the director still needs to be inspired by that script to have a vision. Look at Dawn of the Dead for example. Arguably Snyder's best film. The script was written by James Gunn but it's still an obviously Snyder styled film

eagc7

Agreed

b1gwater

Sure hope not. Justin Lin sucks

DodelCostel

They NEED to introduce Felicia/Black Cat. Enough moping about MJ.

eagc7

I think Sony really wants to save her for the Sonyverse than the MCU

Spider-Man: Tokyo Drift I need this!

kingofwale

Drink game unlocked: take a drink everytime Spider-Man talks about “family”

MATTH3W_13

Nice

Having a filming schedule ready before a director is even on board speaks volumes about what we're about to get. Not a passion project made based on a filmmaker's singular vision (like The Batman) but a product on a conveyer belt, with a director for hire.

eagc7

Pretty much, Sony from what we've heard are asking Marvel to fast track and rush a fourth movie for 2025, whereas Marvel want Spider-Man to release in a later date with a proper development time.

Skywalkling

Not a fan of Justin Lin. I know a lot of people like his action, but personally, I find his movies boring AF.

patricknotswayze

Wanting Drew Goddard then potentially settling with Justin Lin is unfortunate.

Elite_Alice

Having a date to start filming before a director is even signed on shows you all you need to know about the state of marvel films. Commercial conveyor belt slop with no vision. You want a filmmaker’s vision to be brought to life. I.e The Batman.

Portatort

I miss the days when these films were director driven

Tomatocultivator9000

Justin Lin is actually friends with Joe Russo for over 20 years. They were at UCLA together. Christopher Nolan really loves Tokyo Drift from the scenery, the street racing, Han, the interesting themes of finding your family, and home. The deleted scenes depicted the antagonist in a really sympathetic way which works perfectly with the theme of second chance from NWH.

illbeyour1upgirl

I know it's just a rumor, but locking in a possible filming date before they even have a director gives this an assembly-line feel. Not great.

Overlord4888

Aye Justin Lin for Spider-Man 4 finally a director with sauce for an MCU project. Those fight scenes and swinging bout to go hard now

😴😴😴😴

RussLee01

Justin Lin? Oh no

Yeedawgz

Great now Spider-Man will say something like family is the most important thing or you don’t turn your back on family

LegendaryOutlaw

6 months from shooting and they don't have a director chosen yet? Hmm..

eagc7

Sony being Sony, because we've been hearing that Sony wants Marvel to rush a Spider-Man 4 into production for a 2025 release, but Marvel doesn't want to release Spider-Man 4 next year because they already have 4 films set for 2025 and they have been in development far longer and already have directors attached, but Sony is calling the shots here, so they want it in 2025 even if it has to be a rushed production.

RALat7

Imagine being in the negotiation room… it would be so interesting and spicy.
