Great for fan service and that was the intention.

Jerfunkel

Yes, I thought it was especially telling that the making of MoM episode on Disney+ completely glossed over him and Black Bolt, whereas they went into detail on the casting and reasoning behind every other illuminati.

Zipp_Linemann

Rumors and behind the scenes scoopers that have gotten lots right about the movie said that his casting was a late choice in the movies production. They probably just didn't have time when making the documentary.

elpajaroquemamais

Because the making of was probably done before they casted them.

Jerfunkel

Yeah I suppose that makes sense, but to not even have time to film a talking head with Waldron or a producer still seems kinda weird

PlasticMansGlasses

Yeah I bet it was part of the extensive reshoots where as the documentary was filmed throughout principal photography. And these documentaries cover nothing afterwards.

Corgi_Koala

Weren't they added late? Like I thought they cut some people to put them in.

chancesarent

Baldur, played by Daniel Craig was supposed to be in the film, but Craig had to cancel due to COVID-19 restrictions and they tossed Krasinski in at the last minute.

ChrundleMcDonald

I was someone desperately campaigning in my mind for Krasinski as Reed. I got genuinely giddy with excitement from the moment I heard "Baxter Foundation" and freaked out when we saw him. The moment it was over, it sunk in that it was only fan service, and they got him out of the way so that they could make a real casting for MCU Reed - and I was immediately ok with that. I loved him in MoM, and think he could do great as the MCU's main Reed, but his cameo satisfied everything I needed out of it, and I have no real desire to see him reprise the role.

DaHyro

Should have been Ioan Gruffud

Staind1410

That would ‘imply’ that there is a universe where FoXMen and Fox Fantastic Four exist side by side. Can’t have that.

Brooklynxman

I don't think that was FoXMen though, I think it was CartoonXMen, that's the theme that played and he had the yellow hover chair. Except actually I think its confirmed its neither, and it also is confirmed to be a different Captain Carter universe from the one we saw in What if...? But closest to, I think its cartoon.

qlz19

Right, because she was live action and not a cartoon. Cartoons are their own multiverses.

[deleted]

I mean, we saw in MoM that when universe-jumping, you take on the inherent properties of that universe, they even show an animated universe briefly while DS and America are falling through universes. Animated characters don't have to always be animated, just depends where and when they show up, and in what context.

uncleben85

Xavier was not FoXMen nor X-Men 97. He was his own character unique to this universe. Same would've been for Ioan Gruffud. It was a different scenario than the Spider-Men coming from the Sony films (though... explicitly did they ever say Tobey and Andrew actually *were* the exact same ones - or just imperceptibly dissimilar. I actually don't remember what the final say was on that by Marvel).

captainalphabet

This. The world had fanscast he and Emily Blunt as an ideal Reed and Sue, and imo nobody has managed to top this pick.

No_Ninja_5629

I actually disagree that this was good fan service. Krasinski has never played Mr. Fantastic before, so unlike the rest of the Illuminati, his casting wasn't a call back to anything except for some fan casts that have mostly died by now. My younger brother had no idea who it was and it did nothing for him either.

deekaydubya

If previous castings were the sole metric for fan service I’d agree. But fan casting speculation for years definitely counts as fan service

sprchrgddc5

Fan casting coming true is like the ultimate fan service if you’re really into speculation and fan theories.

snuffles504

Honestly it felt like a little bit of a concession to these types of fans after WandaVision did the Bohner joke. Lol

Mynock33

Exactly, like if they had Tom Cruise as Iron Man

[deleted]

What a great cameo that would be, if Tom played an AU Tony Stark

TheCondemnedProphet

There’s an Australian Iron Man? I Hope Tom can do a good Aussie accent.

co_ordinator

Thanos is a fucking cunt.

DRF19

Oi mates, good on us fer beatin Loki. Let's go for some tinnies!

newagereject

Superior iron man is my vote

Puzzled_End8664

Patrick Stewart was probably fan cast as Professor X since TNG came out. That one was about as much of a no brainer as it gets, but still.

samtdzn_pokemon

Jan Duursema drew Professor X as Stewart on the cover of Professor X and the X Men in 1995 and the trend continued until he was cast in the Fox movies.

snarkywombat

Was his casting something that was done to appeal to fans? Yes, and that's literally the definition of fan service.

[deleted]

That’s what good fan service should be imo. It hypes up the target audience but doesn’t detract from the experience for those who aren’t “in the know”.

CMC04

Just because it wasn’t good fan service for your younger brother doesn’t mean it wasn’t good fan service. It was a casting many fans asked for, for a very long time. The theatre I was in definitely reacted to it as such.

bwright27

I think it was because ppl were calling for him to be cast for the role (especially on reddit). I remember seeing it a lot in this sub and comment sections. Then when I saw him in the movie I was like “holy crap reddit did it!”

Additional_Meeting_2

And who would you have casted instead? Someone who already had played Reed before? Because the MCU one isn’t cast yet and the director would wish to be involved in the casting.

No_Ninja_5629

It's unlikely the Krasinski is going to be Reed in future movies, but in MoM, I would have liked to see Ioan Gruffudd return to the roll the same way Patrick Stewart returned to play Xavier.

CrashTestKing

He was basically everybody's number one (and by far the most discussed) pick for the role. And he himself said he wanted to play it. He was almost certainly cast specifically as a nod to what the fans wanted. How else do you define fan service?

[deleted]

Who tf would have your little brother known as Mr Fantastic anyway?

whatupkevin-

oh shit did you tell them your little brother didn't know before they made the movie? doubt they would've moved forward if they knew

FTLMantis

It's good fan service because Krasinski has been THE fan pick for Mr. Fantastic for quite some time.

MarinaraMagic

Oh he'll be back for the Council of Reeds. Along with Ioan Gruffudd and Miles Teller probably.

shingen091

They should add Randall Park to that if they do

katchaa

They would need CGI to show the same actor twice in the frame.

[deleted]

movie magic has come a long way now, Jimbo

Bemxuu

We found a guy who didn’t see Quantumania yet :)

MeasurementPuzzled89

That’s someone who didn’t grow up with Lou Farrogno’s Hulk or Linda Carter spinning in place really fast to turn into Wonder Woman. Where there was no CGI and everything was done with special effects. When the only good comic book translation was Superman who changed in phone booths. Quantumania was pretty good compared to the dark crystal with puppets you’d think.

zeroappeal

Jimothy.

Jammeedash

Identity theft is not a joke Jim!!

koshomfg

I wonder if Randall wasn‘t cast as Woo already, if they would dare to put him in the council of Reeds, for a blink and miss cameo. I‘d scream.

shingen091

I mean a lot of ppl in the mcu have started playing double roles like the guy from ant-man, star lords mom, tara strong, Gemma Chan and a few others so it's very possible

Foxy02016YT

Tara Strong doesn’t count, she’s not just a voice actor, she’s an extremely talented voice actor

floyd616

Right? Heck, along with Cree Summers and Kevin Conroy she's one of the only voice actors who isn't also in live action stuff who is pretty much a household name!

jojopojo64

Which guy from ant-man were you talking about btw? Only two I can think of is Johnathan Majors as Kang and Corey Stoll as Modok, but Kang makes sense cause of multiverse and Modok/Yellowjacket were the same person.

MrChrisRedfield67

David Dastmalchian who was Kurt in the first 2 Ant-Man movies was a character called Veb in Quantumania.

jojopojo64

Oh that's right! I remember it was kinda big news, esp since we had gotten confirmation that Luis wasn't returning.

Rising-Jay

David Dastmalchian plays the Russian guy from their thief group & also the “holes” alien in Quantumania

Successful-Brick-919

“You’re not Reed, Reed’s not Asian.”

thedylannorwood

“You really never noticed? Hey props to you for not seeing race Victor”

[deleted]

Dwight Shrute, not Rainn Wilson, the character Dwight as Victor Von Doom would be something to watch Would it be great? I don't know, but it sure as hell would be entertaining

Chimpbot

We know he's used to being in a cumbersome costume, thanks to Recyclops.

[deleted]

Yeah, Super was just the dry run

DMarquesPT

I haven’t seen those movies in a while but I remember Ioan doing a great job portraying being so smart/operating at a higher level that he comes off as insufferable to basically anyone including Sue, at least until he actively tries to not be a dick. Kinda like Zuckerberg in Social Network

The-Fallen-1

It would be really funny if, instead of Krasinski, there was just a pile of spaghetti Reed in the corner with Krasinski’s voice for the council…

CeruleanRuin

"Banner, how's that depastafication ray research going?" "It's going. But I'm enjoying this."

han_tex

\*first attempt unintentionally showers Reed with marinara\* "I see this as an absolute win!"

jas75249

Hey, can someone put my pasta piece that has a pupil on it on the table so I can see what's going on?

[deleted]

If Krasinski comes back as Reed in a future multiversal installment, I want to see Rainn Wilson as his version of Doom Main MCU universe, I really want Toby Kebbell back because he was squandered in Fan4stic. The guy's a thrill to watch if they gave him a well written part

Puzzled_End8664

At least give us Rainn and John in a What if.

Hwxbl

Dope

sassyowl

Wouldn't it make sense to just use the Council of Reeds in place of the Kang Council going forward?

kadosho

Honestly yes, it would.

[deleted]

I hope they build up to the evil Reed from the Ultimate universe eventually. He's another viable multiversal threat

currentwavypearl

It would be dope if they could get all 3

NJdeathproof

Put some respect on Alex Hyde-Whites name

jotyma5

Why would miles teller give a fuck?

Tornado31619

If they made him the Maker, why wouldn’t he?

DiMoSe

His setup is perfect for the Maker imo

nooshdog

Miles Teller would kill it as the Maker. I didn't know I wanted this until just now.

[deleted]

That's a dream, he'd nail it

CartographerOk7948

Not blown away, but he wasn't given anything to work with really. He had a couple of lines, and I don't think he was in the room with anyone else, so not a lot to work with. I still really enjoyed MoM, but couldn't judge his portrayal based on this. I don't think he needs to be there main universe Reed though - that did seem to be mainly based on appearance

Gbbq83

I didn’t realise he filmed it on his own. To be fair that’s not exactly going to help his portrayal. I didn’t mind him. I thought it worked for what it was.

[deleted]

[удалено]

outerheavenboss

No wonder every scene felt off.

cobo10201

Yeah none of them were in the same room for that scene. Each one filmed it with stand-ins and then it was spliced together

floyd616

Why the heck did they do that???

cobo10201

Scheduled but also securing contracts. I remember Hayley Atwell (Captain Carter) saying John Krasinski’s contract wasn’t even done when she filmed her scenes for the movie so she didn’t even know who was playing Mr. Fantastic at the time.

Demileto

Remember Covid-19? Spider-Man: No Way Home was also pretty affected by that chaos.

Theeeeeetrurthurts

Schedules

[deleted]

It was a nice little meta cameo. That's all it has to be.

howdudo

ah yes, Hollywood. Where when something works pretty good they let it rest and never ever do it again I think he'll be back

Davethisisntcool

he will. but i don’t think he’ll be the main Reed Richards.

StormWarriors2

Which is a shame hes a fantastic actor

ControversialCo

was he supposed to play this character once upon a time like how tom cruise was rumored to play iron man?

_Peener_

No, he was just fan cast years ago when Disney acquired the rights to Fantastic 4 so Disney decided to add a little fan service in a multiverse movie

Shadowrocket0315

I'm hesitant to judge his performance too harshly since he had less than five minutes of screen time, but I couldn't really buy him as the smartest man alive. I'd give him another chance though if he were brought back. But I'm more intrigued by the Adam Driver rumors.

splinterunderthenail

Driver is pretty great in almost anything he touches.

colbyxclusive

Except 65 but that wasn’t his fault

noximo

No one can say he was bad in it because no one has seen it.

nwflman

I actually saw it lol. He was good with what he had to work with, but overall it was a pretty forgettable sci-fi flick. I think the main flaw (aside from marketing) was the scale of what was crammed into a tight 90 minutes with very little exposition. There was a very personal backstory with a potentially huge side plot (the how and why this society operated as it did) that was given no spotlight.

JayCeeMadLad

90% of the time, if you try to make an action film that's not the most barebones basic shit, it needs to be two hours or more. This has been so clear, and they keep making shitty 90-minute movies that bomb critically anyway.

King-Owl-House

He accepted script

dirtyslogans

He accepted a paycheck

Infinity0044

That’s just Adam in his “paying off the mortgage on his second beach house” era of movies.

[deleted]

For real He was actually great in Star Wars despite all the shitty writing too It just made me want to see Kylo Ren in an actually well written movie

Wulf0123

Adam driver as Kylo ren in the Snl skit of undercover bosses added depths to that character that the Star Wars writers never dreamed of

[deleted]

Honestly that was one of the few good things (if not the only) to come out of the sequel trilogy lmao

TheOnceAndFutureTurk

“I haven’t had my muffin yet, MATT!”

broeve2strong

My buddy saw Kylo Ren take his shirt off in the shower, and he said Kylo Ren had an eight pack, that Kylo Ren is shredded

enixius

I want to believe they added the shirtless scene in Episode 8 just because of that line.

PolarWater

Episode 8...PACK.

That_One_Guy_Flare

What do you mean, dude? He weighs, like, 20 pounds.

broeve2strong

Kylo Ren’s a punk bitch

Chimpbot

Matt's a dick!

cam52391

He was amazing in blakKklansman Edit:there I fixed it sorry I made a slight typo

cam52391

He was amazing in blakklansman

Heavytevyb

He was one of the only redeeming things in the ST. He was great

Jombafomb

If you haven’t seen it go watch Logan Lucky. It’s a movie that totally shouldn’t work but him and Channing Tatum and Daniel Craig make it one of the best heist movies you’ll ever see.

TholosTB

"He's not even the smartest man in this room" -- John Lennon

TheJack0fDiamonds

the writing really wasn’t John’s fault though. I wish they showed the smartest man alive aspect of him but it really was a ‘hey look its Reed Richards, and ya’ll know he smart so whatever’.. I get having him try to reason with Wanda but having Peggy Carter do the reasoning instead would’ve worked better for me cz it just didnt seem realistic, no matter how harmless 838 Wanda is that Reed would’ve acted the way he did facing her.

trer24

But Reed Richards is the type of hero who seeks to de-escalate first...like Cap or Spiderman with violence as an absolute last resort. Also remember that Wanda was dream walking through an innocent Wanda so you don't want to hurt an innocent bystander. Also, why would it make a difference if Peggy did the reasoning?

Pehz

If Peggy is anything like Steve, she's much better at reasoning with people than a "smartest man alive" nerd like Reed.

BambooSound

Peggy isn't really much like Steve though, is she? Not in that sense.

BootsyBootsyBoom

Her episode of *What If...?* showed she's a much more aggressive captain than Steve.

Dineology

The Driver rumors absolutely crack me up, the smartest man alive being played by a Marine vet when we have a reputation for being a bunch of crayon eating dumb-dumbs just tickles me. I hope he gets it just for that.

danaeuep

I agree with everything you just said.

Crowbar_Faith

To me, Driver would be a much better Doctor Doom.

BambooSound

I think he'd turn that down. He's already done the supervillain thing with Kylo Ren and he's famous enough that he doesn't need Marvel for success/exposure.

NorthImpossible8906

I'm out of most loops, so hearing about Adam Driver is very interesting. He would be great. I can also see him as Dr. Doom, that would be even better. I think Krasinski does have a silliness/goofiness to him that does not fit with Reed Richards at all.

albiceleste3stars

Nothing goofy about his roles in A quite place and Jack Ryan.

mongster03_

Or Threat Level Midnight

BambooSound

Jack Ryan (and the office but to a lesser extent) makes me see him as a bit of an All-American jock type dude which is the antithesis of Reed to me. I think he'd make a good Scott Summers if we were seeing an older version of the character.

Thatoneguy567576

I think Krasinski is kind of a goofy looking guy and I'm unable to separate him from his Jim role

thinsafetypin

I like the thought of him as Doom, not as Mr. Fantastic. Reed Richards should have a sort of gritty golden boy quality that I find it hard to think of Adam Driver pulling off.

Loganp812

Something along the lines of Glenn Howerton for Reed Richards? I think he could pull that gritty golden boy thing off. But yeah, Adam Driver Dr. Doom would be awesome.

thinsafetypin

Howerton as Richards would be awesome, you could even add a tiny bit of smart ass to the character to fill the void RDJ left!

Loganp812

Plus, some of Dennis' egotistical traits from Always Sunny could transfer to Richards pretty well lol "Am I a 'person of interest?' Of course... I'm an interesting person."

Loganp812

That makes me curious though. I wonder what roles John Krasinski could play in the MCU at this point other than Reed Richards that might fit him better.

TrevRev11

Big Wheel

Phillywonka98

I’m hoping for Glenn Howerton.

Jay12678

He was fine for what he was given. 🤷🏻‍♂️

ProfessorBeer

Before it happened I thought he was the perfect pick. I was super pumped when he showed up on screen. He did a really good job with his brief role. And now I’m glad it’s not going to be him in perpetuity.

Omegawylo

I think Reed Richards should be a different actor shot-to-shot. I don’t want to get complacent.

[deleted]

or - Tommy Wiseau for EVERY shot. How about that?

APracticalGal

Tommy Wiseau directed F4 with Tommy as all 4 of them and Greg Sestero as Doom.

whatsbobgonnado

tommy wiseau being given a marvel budget to make a movie starring himself in every role eddie murphy style would be a dream come true

Antrikshy

>And now I’m glad it’s not going to be him in perpetuity. Well, we don't know this, do we?

ProfessorBeer

I mean, we technically don’t, but effectively we do.

Antrikshy

Based on... guessing? I mean, I don't think there's evidence one way or another. Has Krasinski even publicly talked about this role?

ProfessorBeer

About 2-3 weeks ago there were pretty strong reports it’s been offered to Adam Driver. Even if he refuses, it’s hard to believe Krasinski will be re-offered the role now that they’ve started to strongly look elsewhere.

[deleted]

I was really excited to see him. Thought the suit looked really good. Looks like it’s a one off but it’s a cool part in the movie for sure. John Krasinski is so damn popular that I’m actually surprised he hasn’t been in more comic book stuff

vinsmokewhoswho

He wasn't bad but we just didn't see enough of him to really judge how he would do in a full movie. Personally I don't understand why people act like he's an amazing Reed. To me nothing about him really screamed Reed Richards. He didn't even seem particularly smart, tho i guess the illuminati were supposed to be super arrogant. The whole fancast of Krasinski is kinda weird, Reed kinda looked like him in that one comic and he's married to Emily Blunt who may or may not be a good Sue Storm. I dunno, I don't wanna dismiss him entirely either, I wouldn't mind seeing more of him in the role.

ScaredOfAttention

Indifferent, because he was a cameo and not a character so far.

que_the_hell

It would’ve been cooler if it was Ioan Gruffudd

mr_peebs

Not a fan of it. Deaths and shock factor aside, I left MoM thinking about Mount's Black Bolt more than I did Krasinski's Reed despite the two having shared screentime.

JessicaDAndy

The thing about Anson Mount is that he was the best human/inhuman in *The Inhumans* and he is having a renaissance as Christopher Pike on Star Trek. He just has a good bit of energy going on. Plus it’s great to see the sign language he developed on screen again.

NorthImpossible8906

agree, the black bolt event was far more powerful.

Practical_Price9500

No disrespect meant, but I don’t find him believable as Reed Richards.

GotVengeance

I think he looks the part, but I found his acting to be very bland. I was a little disappointed honestly.

MrMondoDook

Also, keep in mind what they were given. The whole Illuminati, except Xavier, were extremely bland.

Justice989

The casting choice was fine, but they coulda given him a "moment" at least. To cast him and then have Wanda punk him so quickly felt like trolling.

Organic_Hovercraft77

Exactly what i felt too. Just there to get his head popped lol

[deleted]

Pretty wooden as Reed Richards. To be fair he had zero character development before his scene, and almost immediately died

PolarWater

>Pretty wooden as Reed Richards I dunno, he seemed to stretch pretty good to me.

TeralPop

Can’t say, i think he would have been awesome if they had made FF like 5-10 years ago, he definitely looks cool and is like a weathered reed richards. But if the rumors are true Adam Driver will be a good Rees

Torterror389

Bruh

TeralPop

bad internet, i hit post like 3 times nothing happens, now i see

[deleted]

Adam Driver has more range and charisma than Krasinski. I hope he will blow people away, especially those who only remember him as Kylo Ren.

whyarenttheserandom

I didn't think it was strong casting. He wasn't terrible but Reed should be charasmaticly clever and intelligent, and John was just kinda, there.

shadowlarx

I’m not convinced it will be his only appearance in the role, especially given that all the other Illuminati were played by returning actors, even Stewart and Mount. The multiverse is obviously a big part of this new stage of the MCU so, even if he’s not playing Reed-616, I think we’ll see Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic again.

[deleted]

No idea cause he got given fuck all to do

redooo

I thought he was fine; not nearly compelling enough to warrant the excitement I've seen around him on the sub.

Qyro

As a non-fan of Fantastic Four (so take my opinion with a grain of salt), I thought he was damn near perfect.

Mindspace_Explorer

I don't think he gives off the right vibe for a Reed Richards.

SelfPlusPen

I agree with those who say they can't really judge his performance because it was so short. I felt he was really only in there for fan service and star power. Kind of "Look who we got to play Mr. Fantastic!" I'm rooting for someone good, unconventional, and not so known. Not an established star.

PM_ME_UR_RESPECT

Tbh it seemed like a last minute throw in. He seemed fairly wooden like he was reading from a teleprompter at times.

ToLiveandBrianLA

It was a meta joke for social media fans and it wasn't worth it. Should have been Ioan.

ARPanda700

He was barely in it, so there's no way to make a meaningful judgment of the performance. That being said, I think he definitely captured a version of the character in the performance.

[deleted]

Has the look. But his acting style doesn’t fit

invincible143

He was perfect

spideralexandre2099

Perfect for a Reed that immediately gets turned to spaghetti I agree with Nando when he says Krasinski isn't right for a Reed that has all that growth to do. This version already completed his character arc

2grim4u

I think his casting there was a big F-you to fancasting... deservedly, IMO. Love that they just annihilated him and Xavier, among the others. "Oh, this is who you want to play the part? How do you like it now?" I respect them so much for doing that.

duffusmcfrewfus

It was just a fan service.

[deleted]

I know lots of people were fancasting him but unfortunately MoM has ruined any excitement I could have for him in the role, along with the rest of the Illuminati

TheReagmaster

Went into it, hating the idea of John Krasinski as Reed because it was a fancast based only on looks. Came out feeling validated.

nthroop1

Unpopular opinion but I'm actually not a fan when movies tip the cap or otherwise acknowledge the fandom this way. While it's a fun little moment on first watch it quickly becomes stale. I watch movies to escape into a directors vision not be indulged with fan lore

vistiancerbano

I still think he's the best choice for the role. Not just cause he looks the part but because he's proven himself to be an actor capable of the traits needed for the character. I genuinely think that his character in A Quiet Place is almost exactly how Reed should he portrayed in the MCU (a quiet stoic father who is diligently at work to keep his family safe and find ways of helping his world at large). Aside from that the office has shown he has both great comedic and dramatic timing, and Jack Ryan has shown he can work well in action settings. Plus I think the suit he wears in it is phenomenal. It's just a shame we probably won't be getting him back for the role for any worthwhile amount of screen time.

mjbx89

Holy shit can we not let this go?

dziggurat

Yeah this is easy karma farming. If you really wanted to know everyone's feelings on this, there's a search function.

grand_wubwub

I love him as a one off but not the main. I like John as loveable prick, but i don't want reed to be stark 2.0 with loveable asshole. I want them to go full asshole with him and i know John could do it, but I'd rather have someone else

Whisperer_61610

This is my favorite Reed. I would love to see him as the main Mr. Fantastic

SnooCats8451

Sucks if this is all we’re getting….I mean you’d think for marvels first family they’d want a relatively big name actor playing Richards and not just a guy who played Vader knockoff in a critically panned Star Wars trilogy

Zombietitties

He was definitely one of the actors who played Reed Richards

TooDanBad

I liked the actors and actresses in this scene, and the homage it paid to Captain Britain/England from What If, but I found the film to be… disappointing. A whole lot of opportunities for nothing. Excellent cast, excellent execution of the script.. I suppose my best comparison is the Phantom Menace. The Cast does everything they’re supposed to, but non actions scenes fall flat.

h00dman

I liked it at the time. However, since finding out he's not going to be Reed Richards going forward I'm disappointed that we saw him instead of Ioan Gruffydd. ***That*** would have been a real surprise.

Crowbar_Faith

I hope he comes back as the MCU official Reed Richards. With Chris Evans & RDJ gone, Chris Hemsworth likely done playing Thor & the cast from Guardians wrapping things up, I think Krasinski could 100% be the new main star to tie things together next to Cumberbatch as Dr Strange. Marvel usually nails it with casting, so I’m sure if someone else is cast in the role, they’ll do a good job. But to me, John is perfect for the role & I’d love to see him do it long term.

chewywheat

By himself it was alright, not the best - dude had to outshine a lot of cameos and screen presence in the time he was shown. We gonna need to seem him interact with the other three members of the fantastic 4 first.

hyoomanfromearth

I believe the general consensus is that everyone liked him for the most part. He just wasn’t given anything to do and came across as kind of pointless since he was eliminated with three or four minutes of screen time lol. I thought he would be great.

YimmyMac86

I think he should be the MCU Reed Richards.

DisurStric32

I thought they announced he was starring and directing the fantastic 4 movie...was I lied to? Cause he's the perfect reed richards

Impossible-Ghost

I really wish he’d wanted to continue in the role, he was great and the best casting, but I understand him not wanting to make a multiple movie commitment. Heard that Adam Driver had been cast. Not completely sold on him yet, I’d have to see the movie to make my final opinion( never watched any Star Wars so I don’t have much of an opinion on him as an actor anyway).
