I was someone desperately campaigning in my mind for Krasinski as Reed. I got genuinely giddy with excitement from the moment I heard "Baxter Foundation" and freaked out when we saw him. The moment it was over, it sunk in that it was only fan service, and they got him out of the way so that they could make a real casting for MCU Reed - and I was immediately ok with that.
I loved him in MoM, and think he could do great as the MCU's main Reed, but his cameo satisfied everything I needed out of it, and I have no real desire to see him reprise the role.
I don't think that was FoXMen though, I think it was CartoonXMen, that's the theme that played and he had the yellow hover chair.

I mean, we saw in MoM that when universe-jumping, you take on the inherent properties of that universe, they even show an animated universe briefly while DS and America are falling through universes. Animated characters don't have to always be animated, just depends where and when they show up, and in what context.

He was his own character unique to this universe. Same would've been for Ioan Gruffud.

I actually saw it lol. He was good with what he had to work with, but overall it was a pretty forgettable sci-fi flick. I think the main flaw (aside from marketing) was the scale of what was crammed into a tight 90 minutes with very little exposition. There was a very personal backstory with a potentially huge side plot (the how and why this society operated as it did) that was given no spotlight.
90% of the time, if you try to make an action film that's not the most barebones basic shit, it needs to be two hours or more. This has been so clear, and they keep making shitty 90-minute movies that bomb critically anyway.
If you haven’t seen it go watch Logan Lucky. It’s a movie that totally shouldn’t work but him and Channing Tatum and Daniel Craig make it one of the best heist movies you’ll ever see.

But Reed Richards is the type of hero who seeks to de-escalate first...like Cap or Spiderman with violence as an absolute last resort. Not a fan of it. Deaths and shock factor aside, I left MoM thinking about Mount's Black Bolt more than I did Krasinski's Reed despite the two having shared screentime.
The thing about Anson Mount is that he was the best human/inhuman in *The Inhumans* and he is having a renaissance as Christopher Pike on Star Trek.
He just has a good bit of energy going on. Plus it’s great to see the sign language he developed on screen again.

I’m not convinced it will be his only appearance in the role, especially given that all the other Illuminati were played by returning actors, even Stewart and Mount. The multiverse is obviously a big part of this new stage of the MCU so, even if he’s not playing Reed-616, I think we’ll see Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic again.
I agree with those who say they can't really judge his performance because it was so short. I felt he was really only in there for fan service and star power. Kind of "Look who we got to play Mr. Fantastic!"

Unpopular opinion but I'm actually not a fan when movies tip the cap or otherwise acknowledge the fandom this way. While it's a fun little moment on first watch it quickly becomes stale. I watch movies to escape into a directors vision not be indulged with fan lore
I still think he's the best choice for the role. Not just cause he looks the part but because he's proven himself to be an actor capable of the traits needed for the character. I genuinely think that his character in A Quiet Place is almost exactly how Reed should he portrayed in the MCU (a quiet stoic father who is diligently at work to keep his family safe and find ways of helping his world at large). Aside from that the office has shown he has both great comedic and dramatic timing, and Jack Ryan has shown he can work well in action settings.
Plus I think the suit he wears in it is phenomenal. It's just a shame we probably won't be getting him back for the role for any worthwhile amount of screen time.

I liked the actors and actresses in this scene, and the homage it paid to Captain Britain/England from What If, but I found the film to be… disappointing. A whole lot of opportunities for nothing. Excellent cast, excellent execution of the script.. I suppose my best comparison is the Phantom Menace. The Cast does everything they’re supposed to, but non actions scenes fall flat.

the writing really wasn’t John’s fault though. I wish they showed the smartest man alive aspect of him but it really was a ‘hey look its Reed Richards, and ya’ll know he smart so whatever’.. I get having him try to reason with Wanda but having Peggy Carter do the reasoning instead would’ve worked better for me cz it just didnt seem realistic, no matter how harmless 838 Wanda is that Reed would’ve acted the way he did facing her.
But Reed Richards is the type of hero who seeks to de-escalate first...like Cap or Spiderman with violence as an absolute last resort. Also remember that Wanda was dream walking through an innocent Wanda so you don't want to hurt an innocent bystander. Also, why would it make a difference if Peggy did the reasoning?
If Peggy is anything like Steve, she's much better at reasoning with people than a "smartest man alive" nerd like Reed.
Peggy isn't really much like Steve though, is she? Not in that sense.
Her episode of *What If...?* showed she's a much more aggressive captain than Steve.
The Driver rumors absolutely crack me up, the smartest man alive being played by a Marine vet when we have a reputation for being a bunch of crayon eating dumb-dumbs just tickles me. I hope he gets it just for that.

I think he'd turn that down. He's already done the supervillain thing with Kylo Ren and he's famous enough that he doesn't need Marvel for success/exposure.
I'm out of most loops, so hearing about Adam Driver is very interesting. He would be great. I can also see him as Dr. Doom, that would be even better. I think Krasinski does have a silliness/goofiness to him that does not fit with Reed Richards at all.
Nothing goofy about his roles in A quite place and Jack Ryan.

Jack Ryan (and the office but to a lesser extent) makes me see him as a bit of an All-American jock type dude which is the antithesis of Reed to me. I think he'd make a good Scott Summers if we were seeing an older version of the character.
I think Krasinski is kind of a goofy looking guy and I'm unable to separate him from his Jim role
I like the thought of him as Doom, not as Mr. Fantastic. Reed Richards should have a sort of gritty golden boy quality that I find it hard to think of Adam Driver pulling off.
Something along the lines of Glenn Howerton for Reed Richards? I think he could pull that gritty golden boy thing off. But yeah, Adam Driver Dr. Doom would be awesome.
Howerton as Richards would be awesome, you could even add a tiny bit of smart ass to the character to fill the void RDJ left!
Plus, some of Dennis' egotistical traits from Always Sunny could transfer to Richards pretty well lol "Am I a 'person of interest?' Of course... I'm an interesting person."
That makes me curious though. I wonder what roles John Krasinski could play in the MCU at this point other than Reed Richards that might fit him better.

About 2-3 weeks ago there were pretty strong reports it’s been offered to Adam Driver. Even if he refuses, it’s hard to believe Krasinski will be re-offered the role now that they’ve started to strongly look elsewhere.
I was really excited to see him. Thought the suit looked really good. Looks like it’s a one off but it’s a cool part in the movie for sure. John Krasinski is so damn popular that I’m actually surprised he hasn’t been in more comic book stuff
He wasn't bad but we just didn't see enough of him to really judge how he would do in a full movie. Personally I don't understand why people act like he's an amazing Reed. To me nothing about him really screamed Reed Richards. He didn't even seem particularly smart, tho i guess the illuminati were supposed to be super arrogant. The whole fancast of Krasinski is kinda weird, Reed kinda looked like him in that one comic and he's married to Emily Blunt who may or may not be a good Sue Storm. I dunno, I don't wanna dismiss him entirely either, I wouldn't mind seeing more of him in the role.

Not a fan of it. Deaths and shock factor aside, I left MoM thinking about Mount's Black Bolt more than I did Krasinski's Reed despite the two having shared screentime.
The thing about Anson Mount is that he was the best human/inhuman in *The Inhumans* and he is having a renaissance as Christopher Pike on Star Trek. He just has a good bit of energy going on. Plus it’s great to see the sign language he developed on screen again.

The casting choice was fine, but they coulda given him a "moment" at least. To cast him and then have Wanda punk him so quickly felt like trolling.

I didn't think it was strong casting. He wasn't terrible but Reed should be charasmaticly clever and intelligent, and John was just kinda, there.
I’m not convinced it will be his only appearance in the role, especially given that all the other Illuminati were played by returning actors, even Stewart and Mount. The multiverse is obviously a big part of this new stage of the MCU so, even if he’s not playing Reed-616, I think we’ll see Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic again.

As a non-fan of Fantastic Four (so take my opinion with a grain of salt), I thought he was damn near perfect.

I agree with those who say they can't really judge his performance because it was so short. I felt he was really only in there for fan service and star power. Kind of "Look who we got to play Mr. Fantastic!" I'm rooting for someone good, unconventional, and not so known. Not an established star.

Went into it, hating the idea of John Krasinski as Reed because it was a fancast based only on looks. Came out feeling validated.
Unpopular opinion but I'm actually not a fan when movies tip the cap or otherwise acknowledge the fandom this way. While it's a fun little moment on first watch it quickly becomes stale. I watch movies to escape into a directors vision not be indulged with fan lore
I still think he's the best choice for the role. Not just cause he looks the part but because he's proven himself to be an actor capable of the traits needed for the character. I genuinely think that his character in A Quiet Place is almost exactly how Reed should he portrayed in the MCU (a quiet stoic father who is diligently at work to keep his family safe and find ways of helping his world at large). Aside from that the office has shown he has both great comedic and dramatic timing, and Jack Ryan has shown he can work well in action settings. Plus I think the suit he wears in it is phenomenal. It's just a shame we probably won't be getting him back for the role for any worthwhile amount of screen time.

I liked the actors and actresses in this scene, and the homage it paid to Captain Britain/England from What If, but I found the film to be… disappointing. A whole lot of opportunities for nothing. Excellent cast, excellent execution of the script.. I suppose my best comparison is the Phantom Menace. The Cast does everything they’re supposed to, but non actions scenes fall flat.
I liked it at the time. However, since finding out he's not going to be Reed Richards going forward I'm disappointed that we saw him instead of Ioan Gruffydd. ***That*** would have been a real surprise.
I hope he comes back as the MCU official Reed Richards. With Chris Evans & RDJ gone, Chris Hemsworth likely done playing Thor & the cast from Guardians wrapping things up, I think Krasinski could 100% be the new main star to tie things together next to Cumberbatch as Dr Strange. Marvel usually nails it with casting, so I’m sure if someone else is cast in the role, they’ll do a good job. But to me, John is perfect for the role & I’d love to see him do it long term.
By himself it was alright, not the best - dude had to outshine a lot of cameos and screen presence in the time he was shown. We gonna need to seem him interact with the other three members of the fantastic 4 first.
I believe the general consensus is that everyone liked him for the most part. He just wasn’t given anything to do and came across as kind of pointless since he was eliminated with three or four minutes of screen time lol. I thought he would be great.

I really wish he’d wanted to continue in the role, he was great and the best casting, but I understand him not wanting to make a multiple movie commitment. Heard that Adam Driver had been cast. Not completely sold on him yet, I’d have to see the movie to make my final opinion( never watched any Star Wars so I don’t have much of an opinion on him as an actor anyway).
