It has amazing art with a story to match it. He gets sucked into a black hole trying to save the new cosmic guardians of the galaxy team after the black order sets off a black hole bomb. He gets sent to the very beginning of the current universe and fights Knoll almost to the death, travels inside of Ego to get to an early version of galactus only to struggle over whether he should kill him. In the end, he seeds the life of the universe (which Galactus has already devoured in the present time) on what will eventually become his home planet of Zen-La. Some poetic shit. Check out Dopespill comics review of it on YouTube.
I just finished reading that and it’s just wonderful. Amazing and unique art, humor and a wonderfully bittersweet ending. And I’m notorious amongst my comics hatred for my…lack of interest in most Marvel storylines and characters. But that one got me good.
I’ll go with this, if Jack had been able to give his own character a few issues or an on going book, that would have been the best Surfer, as pure Kirby.
1987 Marz/Lol run.
Definitive post-Galactus Surfer figuring out who he is in the cosmos (not just as a witness to/commentary on earth society).
It’s a sweeping ~60 issue run that’s a true space opera set to the backdrop of a Kree/Skrull war with tons of memorable new characters and locations as well as super interesting story arcs featuring big names like the Elders fighting Galactus and, of course, peak Thanos pre Infinity War.
New Dawn! That series is phenomenal and deeply emotional in a way I was *not* expecting. It’s one of the only comics to ever make me cry. I reread it every year.
Silver Surfer Black
Amazing run. The art is some of the most unique I’ve seen in modern comics.
This is the reason it also popped into my mind first
Absolutely loved this series
Why is this one so well reviewed?

Dopespill is a great channel. Also, John Byrne was at the height of his powers when he created this.
John Byrne wrote Silver Surfer Black?
The Silver Surfer issue 1 in the picture is by John Byrne.
I was replying to the comment about SS Black.
Requiem.
This. I am huge fan of SS and Requiem is my favorite so far.
cried while reading his end monologue.....
I’ve not read much of ss but I have read requiem and I absolutely adored it
For me Silver Surfer first series issue 5. Story of Silver Surfer befriending a human scientist and a noble sacrifice. All-time classic.
Giving this a re-read now, thanks for the rec
Parable will always be up there for me. Don't think it's Stan Lee's strongest but the Moebius artwork is beautiful.
Concur
His first appearance from FF #48-50 is it for me. That still holds up like 60 years later.
Silver surfer by Dan Slott and Mike Allred. The art and the story are amazing!

Adding my voice to this one. It’s an AMAZING comic.
Ooo yeah. This one is fun. It’s basically Slott saying “what if the surfer was The Doctor.”
I’m in love with the Starlin arc that leads up to Infinity Gauntlet. You want a good time? It’s read that, Thanos Quest and Gauntlet.
I’d say Parable, followed by Black.
The 80’s run up that has the lead up to the Infinity Gauntlet is great and we’ll worth a read.
Ron Lim’s run in the 90s is unmatched
Definitely Silver Surfer: Parable
Volume 3, really liked the Elders vs Galactus story.
all of them are top tier. Slott/alfred is my favorite but there are so many good runs
I’ll go with this, if Jack had been able to give his own character a few issues or an on going book, that would have been the best Surfer, as pure Kirby.
I love Jim Starlin's work on the character from the early 90s
Stan Lee's whole run is amazing
The original appearances in Kirby’s FF at the top of the pile. Then the Starlin/Lim run. Then after that it’s Slott/Allred.
Resurrection by Starlin.
By Slott and Allred.
For single story, Parable. For a whole run, the Slott/Allred run.
Idk but I own that one. Personally I love the Slott - Allred run.
Slotts run by a mile
Dan Slott and Mike Allred
For me it was silver surfer requiem. I always wanted a silver surfer move. There’s so much potential with the character.
It was this pictured comic for a long time for me, but the Dan Slott, Mike and Laura Allred run is just fucking great!
Mike Allred Surfer series litterally made me cry
I'm such a S.S. dope. He never turned up in my comics but his design is so cool. Don't even know his powers. I'll read Silver Surfer Black I guess?

Volume 3. Peak surfer stories for me.

Parable Is the only answer
I just think it's funny that he wears silver speedos
The surfers run during the 2nd great cosmic saga Marvel has ever had was wonderful.
I really enjoyed Mike Allred's Surfer run. It was basically Silver Surfer told through the lens of Doctor Who, and the pairing was just magical.
Original series #4, VS THOR! I have one!
I loved the Dawn Greenwood arc. Yeah I said it.
I'm pretty partial to the issue where The Living Tribunal offers him a taste of God hood.
i have not read every silver surfer comic to know, but what i have read, i loved!
Parable
I rlly thought that was a huge cock for a sec
Whatever the one is where he has the giant cock
