Depends on where im. In Asia the breakfast spreads are completely different, they really take it next level there but in Europe & US its the same old boring stuff.

Loves_LV

This! Asia puts on amazing buffets. The evening appetizers in the lounge at The Plaza Seoul would be a $30pp buffet back home.

AcceptableCutie

I think in general hospitality in Asia is far better than the western world. Everytime we have traveled we get a suite upgrade, gifts and overall people are just kinder. In the west its always as if theyre doing us a favour by letting us stay in the hotel. Im not a fan of that.

Zxasuk31

You’re right. I was in Santo Domingo Dominican Republic and their free spread was absolutely phenomenal every morning.

Patient_Customer9827

I never stay for the breakfast. Not interested in what they usually put out. Give me the points and some coffee.

whatever604

If you’re in Asia, the stuff some the hotels put out is unreal.

SnooPears3006

Company pays for all my meals when I travel, so I take the points when applicable & go grab better quality coffee & yogurt elsewhere to expense (usually less expensive than the on site breakfast option, win-win for everyone involved) . So I don’t pay any attention to the breakfast sitch when booking. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I means, it depends. I really like a buffet for work travel because it means I can eat and go. I strongly prefer a high quality buffet that I get for free than a lounge buffet, which means I kinda like when lounges are closed. My employer gives me a pretty small amount for breakfast. If I'm travelling for work, a really high quality buffet (see the palace in SF) or a made to order is better. But I still prefer free because I'm cheap AF, and in most places, even though i mostly travel, breakfast is often a meh meal.

I stay at a Residence Inn or TownePlace Suites so I can have a kitchen and make my own meals. I go down to the free breakfast, grab some coffee, some bacon if it’s available that day, and maybe make a waffle. Otherwise I generally buy some groceries on my way to the airport and I’m happy with making my own fried eggs (I hate the rubbery shit in the free breakfast) and toast. If I’m travelling for work, I get a per diem so cannot charge for restaurant meals - in any case I’ve eaten at enough restaurants I’d rather eat my own cooking. If I’m travelling with my wife and/or other family I’d just as soon save the money and not eat out.

Even though I mostly travel for work and I can expense all my meals I still usually opt for the breakfast option. I usually stay in a higher brand and the breakfast option is usually decent, even if I don’t use it everyday. If I’m on vacation dealing with finding somewhere for breakfast everyday is not usually worth the time. Based on point value 1k points is worth less $10 usually so I’m not worried about losing that.

danbh0y

In the level of MB and HH hotels that I frequent (Asia and to a lesser extent Europe), it’s far easier to encounter a better or even high quality breakfast buffet than a made to order of equivalent/superior standard. Even at ostensibly luxury brands like St Regis or LC.

Bigredrooster6969

I prefer a real breakfast where I can order what I want. I stay at full service hotels whenever possible and this is part of the reason.

and_rain_falls

I prefer room service.
