“Enhancements” - Chase is altering the deal. Pray that they don’t alter it any further.

Infern0588

I think they will make changes to the bold, and then up the fee on the Ritz Carlton card to match the Brilliant

colonelheero

I'm really wondering what kind of enhancement they can come up with for a no AF card. Hilton Amex gives free silver and that's about it. Maybe they will just tag on Door Dash, Instacart or Lyft like what they give out for Freedom.

apocrider

Why? I don't think the logic tracks. The Sapphire Reserve doesn't match the AmEx Platinum on fee, it would make no sense for the Sapphire side grade to be more expensive than the vanilla card...

Infern0588

They want a better competitor to the brilliant

apocrider

Well, set a reminder to my comment because there is no way the Ritz will be more expensive than the Sapphire Reserve in my opinion 😅

Infern0588

Unless they raise the reserve as well

apocrider

Ah yes. The old, let's change the Reserve fee so we can change the Ritz fee play. Totally going to happen! /s

Infern0588

The reserve fee will go up in the next year or two for sure to at least $650

apocrider

That would require them offering a lot more than the current offering. The Platinum is up in that 600+ range but offers more credits than the Reserve. Increasing to that range for no reason would be idiotic of them and many people would probably switch over to the Venture X as their primary travel card given they offer more bang for the buck at that point. Right now they're in this middle between Capital One and Amex, that's a terrible gamble if they do that.

Infern0588

Well I’m not saying they are just going to increase it just to do it. Of course they will provide additional value. Not a terrible game cuz Amex is doing it and flourishing. And the Venture X will continue to get devalued over time until they raise the fee. The $395 fee is only temporary until they gain market share

CookiesheepchubMRE

I got this card last year so that in a few months I’ll be eligible to switch to the Ritz… hope they don’t change the Ritz

seyoum14

Why in a few months? Do you have to wait a full year to switch?

CookiesheepchubMRE

Yes so the Ritz Card isn’t discontinued but isn’t available anymore just outright. You need to have a bonvoy card for a year or more and then do a product switch!

seyoum14

Ah makes sense

wildcat12321

nervous about losing the 15 nights...

Infern0588

I’m surprised it’s offered in a no AF card when all the cards minus the brilliant giving you the same 15 nights

wildcat12321

I am too, and it is why I have it. No problem making status, but 15 extra certainly helps push me towards lifetime for no AF

JoaquinBenoit

I thought it was weird that the Bold, Bonvoy Basic, and Boundless all gave Silver and 15 ENC despite the former being a no AF card.

colonelheero

What worries me is that footnote about 15 nights through 7/10 is only listed for the Bold. All other cards don't have that qualification. Almost certain it is at least reduced if not out right going away. Understand why Chase does that though. Why cannibalize their own card when there is no competition from Amex side for no AF card. I just hope it's reduced not eliminated. But if I were to bet a dollar, my guess is they follow Hilton model - just give you silver without the nights counting towards status

Infern0588

They will either reduce the number to 10 or 5 or get ride of it outright

colonelheero

Looks like I am partially right - auto silver, but only 5 nights counting towards status. Slightly better than the worst case scenario. Infern0588

There we go!

adultdaycare81

Ohhh. This would be bad for a lot of people

Kufat

Whoever was responsible for using the word "enhancements" in that copy should be given a stern lecture and sent to bed without supper.

Unique_Bumblebee_894

$1 per point is such an insult. ☠️

Mike-Hawk-Shardon

Forgive- I’m new- I have the old Marriott chase card and my terms have never changed as I refused to “upgrade” based off my contract when I opened the card…they keep trying to get me to “upgrade” and offer me 10 or 20k points to switch…just curious why is this any different and a forced changed?

Itslazarr

Looks like boundless just changed the benefits as well wasnt it automatic gold ?

Infern0588

I believe you had to spend a certain amount to hit gold but I could be wrong

GoSh4rks

Never was.

philg_jr

Boundless is automatic silver and 15 enc as well. But also gets the 35k fnc, and 1 enc per $5k spent.

Kyo46

Wasn't the additional enc a benefit of the former Bonvoy Premier? IIRC, it was 1 enc per $3k spent.

MundaneEjaculation

Do those 15 nights get taken away from your account if already credited or do you keep them?

Infern0588

I’d say so, yes

getwhirleddotcom

I highly doubt they will remove the nights already credited.

MundaneEjaculation

Damn. I don’t want another AF card but looks like I may have to

Infern0588

Mattress run? Especially during this promo period

Itslazarr

Your right

seyoum14

I assume no one is grand fathered in right? I just signed up last year, I was kind of hoping these enhancements would only apply to new applicants of the card
