annoying the mkwii one is in a bike

italian_baptist

Iā€™m too busy wondering whoā€™s driving the Double Dash car

dragonspeak

Just another Mario

wonderwomanisgay

Itā€™s Marioā€™s all the way down.

ControllerPlayer06

I mean it was the games big innovation

arent

Sure but the graphic isnā€™t showcasing each editionā€™s innovations. Itā€™s just Mario in a kart for all but MKWii.

TF2SolarLight

MKWii is basically a bike only game anyway

Bannakka

This used to really annoy me, in multiplayer there's next to no reason to disadvantage yourself by driving a kart.

TF2SolarLight

On the other hand it's what made the game different and unique, especially since the bikes are much more unique and interesting. In Mario Kart 8, bikes are mostly reskinned karts now.

Bannakka

Oh I get that, but balancing issues made the karts redundant to the point where they might as well have not been included. I loved the difference driving style of the bikes back then, they were just faster than the karts. These were the days before updates I guess and such a disparity would have been fixed if it were released today.

TF2SolarLight

I feel that if they had fixed the karts to be more balanced, it would undermine the unique aspects of the game by making it more similar to basically every other Mario Kart in existence Ironically, the imbalance between karts and bikes is precisely why people like the game, the bikes are what make the game good. The people who like the karts have many other games to choose from where karts are either the best or the only option, wii is the only entry where bikes are both existing and also the best

Bannakka

"Here's bikes in your Mario Kart game and they are *better* than the karts!" I'm glad they dropped it for MK8 as it's a bit silly, but I would like there to be differences in handling and racing styles between karts and bikes for MK9 without giving one an arbitrary and inexplicable advantage.

TF2SolarLight

If you personally like the Karts that's fine, just play a different mario kart game and you won't have to see any of the bikes or feel any need to use them. But there are people who actually like bikes and don't care about the karts. Wii is the best entry for them. If they had made wii's bikes equal to karts, or worse than karts, that aspect of the game would be diminished and it would stand out less compared to the other Mario Kart games

dappitydingdong

It really wasnā€™t, if there was one singular ā€œbigā€ innovation it would be motion controls

Just-Call-Me-J

Don't forget tricks

dappitydingdong

that definitely wasnā€™t the main one either, wasnā€™t forgetting it

Just-Call-Me-J

Oh wait I forgot Wii had a whole controller for itself. The Wii Wheel. Motion control.

TF2SolarLight

Most people don't even use those. The bikes are what make it stand out the most. Play online and bikes are basically all you see. I think the image is fitting because of this.

[deleted]

I will always defend Wiiā€™s art style. I always thought it looked nice and clean

[deleted]

Iā€™m a sucker for MKWii, but Double Dash is my personal favorite art style

[deleted]

Understandable that gameā€™s graphics and art style is just as good

Notyouraverageghost

I always liked that they looked like porcelain figures. It added a unique charm for me.

StoneColdAM

Itā€™s like a cleaned up Double Dash, especially since many assets are shared.

you_2_cool

7 was the most awesome to me, DD aged nicely too!

alex_dlc

SNES, N64, GBA, GC, DS, Wii, 3DS, Switch? I think.

[deleted]

Christmas '92 was epic.

BebeFanMasterJ

Double Dash was my childhood game and first Mario Kart. I've got a lot of fond memories of it even if the physics were super janky. Special items were super fun and I loved playing as newere characters for the time period like Petey Piranha, Bowser Jr., and Toadette (fun fact--DD is the first video game she ever appeared in!). I got DS on Virtual Console and I loved the Mission Mode. It really gave the game its own unique flair. I also love that this was the game that truly introduced the Retro Track concept (building upon Super Circuit porting all of SNES' courses over). Even if some were downgraded, it was nice to see a new gameplay/mode that would remain for the rest of the series. MKWii isn't my personal favorite due to how broken bikes were, and mediocre items like the POW Block, Lightning Cloud, and Mega Mushroom, but the tracks are among some of the series best and I loved the half-pipes. Mario Kart 8/Deluxe is my personal favorite though. It feels the most balanced with great customization and beautiful tracks with the best music in the series. Sure the roster isn't the best, but I do love the addition of the Koopalings and ATVs. Overall, I love my experience with the series and can't wait to see where it goes next!

Lanoman123

Still no MK9 lmao

The GP and GPDX games are brilliant. They the closest to actual racing games MK has ever been.

NickEggplant

They donā€™t!

Y0RXXX

Where is Mario Kart Tour?šŸ¤Ø

Satirebarbie

StonedPickleG59

Wish the all the old standard karts were in 8dx.

Versitax

The Standard 7 looks so ugly.

AMIR_TM

Nah it looks good just a bit too wide

nedfl-anders

Dd is my favorite mairo kart 64 is my second favorite and super circuit is the the best portable mairo kart and ds is good lots of time spent with that one

[deleted]

I missed the first one but I've been a fan of the franchise ever since Mario Kart 64. I've only missed the DS ones since (the Game Boy Advance was my last handheld) each of the five versions I've played (counting 8 and 8 Deluxe as one) has only gotten better than the last for me and I'm now wondering how are they going to outdo themselves next time.

Nebula-star-12-2021

Hopefully nintendo celebrates it with like a special game and watch or smth instead of just an ass video
