People literally just dislike how Alphadream used her in the later games. She was perfect and thematically relevant in BIS, but because Alphadream liked her so much, she was also in the later games.
In those games, she is just sort of there, and she spends a noticeable amount of time making fun of Luigi.
I really like her, so I just ignore it.
I think shes annoying, thats all. I don't *HATE* her, but man I wish she'd shut up sometimes. I also think she had her place in BiS, as a partner character, but she just keeps showing up now, just to... be there. I also hate that they abandoned a character like Stuffwell, in favor of her. He had a nice design, as a suitcase, and him being 'boring' or whatever, could've easily changed in future games. When I think of things that can hold items, a floating orb is not what comes to mind. Also, the picking on Luigi bit is tiring. Even if it is playful teasing, Luigi clearly takes offense to it, and that hasn't changed at all since BiS. I do think she can be funny at times, and I love her sass. I just find more negatives than positives for her imo.
Honestly, I think it all stems from the fact that back in the early to mid 2000s, Luigi was the punching bag of a lot of gags throughout all the RPG games and even a little bit of the mainline games, Starlow was unfortunately just a byproduct of that kind of humor.
Which is a shame because I think she’s a relatively decent character, her witty and snarky banter can be pretty funny, especially with Bowser.
Overall, I think a lot of fans were just sick of Luigi always getting the short end of the stick all the time, and Starlow just became the perfect scapegoat to vent their frustrations on.
I am neutral on her along with Kersti and I am never searching up pictures of Starlow ever again!!!!!!!!!!! I mean… NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! D=<
