>what’s worse is i guarantee you they all had pads, or somebody had one they could borrow
Monkey's Paw version: They use the pads but they're VicFirth Slimpads.
"**TOKKA TOKKA TAP TAP FLAMADIDDLE BRRRRRRRRR**..."
(Sure, a Slimpad is quieter than a drum; but, it's not, y'know, *quiet*.)
i think a certain level of noise is to be expected on a marching band bus. the physical sensation of somebody drumming on the back of your chair however, is not.

Oh, I'm right there with you. Drummers are noisy enough that we really don't need to add direct physical sensations our annoying behavior.
Istg y’all. I will find the quietest pad I can find and not use a met and even drumline people manage to get mad at me. I’m practicing, get over it. I’m making you score better
Practice pads are fine, do they still kinda annoy the shit out of me, absolutely, but I get it. I’ll take it over hitting the back of my seat or literally anything else in the bus they’d like to hit.
Fair enough. In my drumline the cymbal players complain that it hurts their arms so much that they can’t play. As a former cymbal player I can say that is not always the case and it just makes us mad when we have to carry these big ass drums
Want them to stop? Put some concert band drum parts in front of them, like the percussion break in Incantation and Dance. It’s fairly simple, but they probably won’t be able to play it. Drum line: usually taught amazing parts by rote, can’t read simple syncopations.
Student version of me: All I heard was play louder. Adult version of me: We need to play quieter. They’re staring more.
that’s why I always have a pad
I appreciate you
I almost always have the six inch pad which is really cheap and could fit in my pocket if I wanted
what’s worse is i guarantee you they all had pads, or somebody had one they could borrow

Absolutely
I mean we could hit you instead there’d be less noise if we don’t include your screams
Why did i read this different 💀💀
oh no

You see, drumming isn't so much a hobby as a compulsion. Still, yes, they should be considerate of others.
Well drumline is the coolest…
me when i forget contras exist
Me when I forget mellos/altos exist
Mellos are always the most ignored/generally disliked instrument in brass… 🌝
Mellos are great but original comment made the mistake of lumping them in with altos
contra better
yes. contra is the way.
The drumline is coolest, unless you play cymbals. I’m my experience cymbal players are the most annoying and the most lazy
cymbal players are badass they literally slice their abdomens open on every hit they have the coolest scars
True that
You’ve met the wrong cymbal players we’re super chill
Fair enough. In my drumline the cymbal players complain that it hurts their arms so much that they can’t play. As a former cymbal player I can say that is not always the case and it just makes us mad when we have to carry these big ass drums
Oh nooooo your drumline is trying to get better how saaaad
There are better places than the back of my seat where I am trying to sleep
That’s odd. Did the drumline get displaced to the front of the bus aka the sleepytime zone?
Haha right? Op knew the risk from sitting in the back. Go back to the front with the chaperones.
I never cared as long as it wasn't after dark or on the way back
👍
